    “The Trojan Deck” is simultaneously simple in premise and almost limitless in possibilities. At its core, it is the holy grail of card tricks: they shuffle a blue deck and you shuffle a red deck. Both decks match exactly.
    There is no deck switch, the effect has no sleight-of-hand whatsoever, it is 100% foolproof, and the gimmick can be used in all sorts of ways to allow you perform stacked deck effects with a shuffled deck. But that isn’t even the best part.
    The best part is the presentational possibility. “The Trojan Deck” is Joshua Jay’s closer, and he accompanies the trick with the (true) story of how his parents met. But you can also do this trick to music. Once each deck is thoroughly shuffled, you deal through the cards with the spectator, and the cards match. You can tell an interesting story about coincidence. Or you can talk about the mathematical impossibility of this classic feat. Or you don’t have to say anything at all.
    Most two-deck matching tricks suffer from a couple of weaknesses: they either rely on very particular steps or mathematical principles that are easy to screw up, or require you to interact with spectators in a very, very careful way. In “The Trojan Deck” the spectator can shuffle their cards any way they like. There is nothing that can go wrong.
    The other weakness in many versions is that the decks must somehow “touch” for a moment. There is often a moment when cards are transferred from one deck to another, requiring the performer to bring the packs together and do a sneaky move. In “The Trojan Deck” the cards are kept entirely isolated the whole time.
    “The Trojan Deck” is more than a trick; it’s a devious gimmick that allows you to perform all sorts of parlor and close-up miracles, and all of these are explained in detail by Joshua Jay. In the package you receive the special box, and three decks of cards that will allow you to perform “The Trojan Deck” within minutes, or to customize it for many other possibilities.
    We’re biased, of course, as Joshua Jay is our cofounder, but we’re in awe of the careful attention to detail that is on display in every one of his effects. He’s the guy who created “Inferno,” the best-selling and highest-voted “Trick of the Year” when it was released. He’s the creator of “Balance,” our best-selling trick of all time. He puts years into the development of every original piece. “I think this is my best effect,” he says of “The Trojan Deck.” “I didn’t intend for it to be this way, but I can’t follow this trick with anything else, because whatever it is seems anti-climactic by comparison. It’s the best thing I’ve ever created.”
    Due to complicated nature of manufacturing this effect, we have a very small supply of “The Trojan Deck” in stock. Each one is built to last countless performances. Invest in yours today to avoid disappointment later.

    Have bought it and watched the instructions. Your review is very fair. It’s an amazing effect and can’t wait for it to arrive now to get practicing. Now where did I leave those big boy trousers…

    Amazing trick; great, fair review. Thanks!

    A superb review. Performing the trick is clearly a matter of confidence rather than skill.

    The boldness of the method is why I didn’t buy it,* but it is why I love it. Took me some a couple of times to see it. But I think I would be afraid to do it (I probably need bigger trousers), but I really enjoyed watching it.

    Went back to trailer,again. Watch with sound off, helpful. Turned sound back on. Heard the sound. Two Bold moves, maybe more.

    Wonderful review of The Trojan Deck. I am surprised he did not do this on Penn & Teller this may have fooled them.

      There is a good chance they'd know it, despite his claim that this is the frist time he has shared it, I know of at least to places he's taught it before, there are probably more. If not, I'm sure they would have gone with deck switch which is wrong but most people who don't know the actual method still insist is the case LOL

    As a beginner just trying to master some sleights, I've found that some great tricks are beyond me at the moment because my sleights are just not there yet. Will I be able to do this if I don't have my sleight skills up to snuff? I'll get there, but I'm just not good enough yet ---for example--I'm struggling with NFW because of the "moves."

    This is on his Penguin lecture ( which I recommend). Absolutely able to DIY...but as the lecture was years ago, is anything added to this? Based on the presentation it appears identical.

    Balance was super wobbly but the biggest problem for me was: what do you do with it once the impossible objects is created… dismantling it wasn’t a option and killing the atmosphere.. sold mine because I couldn’t find a solution.. it might be different if you perform it on stage and the lights go out - If you secretly can get it off the stage it might be pretty good.
    I loved the trailer of Trojan Deck! Can anybody please clarify that N**o S***y isn’t involved - had a few problems with it in the past.

  • @MexieMex
    @MexieMex Před 2 lety +11

    Didn't like Balance as it wasn't magic, it was a stunt. This is magic, brave move calling it Trojan though (it both tips the method and opens up so many condom jokes). Great review, it saves me doing one on the PPP site and server LOL

    Balance is just garbage. Even when Josh does it, the appearance is of things sticking together. It's not a patch on the original or the variants, some of which can even be done in the hands.

    Watch the trailer again think I saw the BOLD move. Knew why he would, don't known what it makes happen, which is why I will have to buy the deck. I thought it would be north of $100, since it's $75 for four working tool, done deal.Now.the question: can I actually do it.🧐

  • @tommarquette9706
    @tommarquette9706 Před 2 lety

    Sat in on live chat, so I've seen it performed twice in 30 minutes. It kills both times. Best part of the trick is the ability to add the story of how your parents met, strong stuff. My story is nearly identical to Mr J. Looking forward to your presentation, the fine points on execution. What always floats in the back of my head: What could go wrong? A trailer and a review do not lend themselves to the inquiry. That is.why everyone should sign up for the Card Magic Course for a deeper dive. A place where the nuts meets the bolts🧐

      Order and Chaos by Will Housten is an incredible trick which leaves everyone speechless. The performance of Trojan Deck seems to be less streamlined with some unmotivated moves, it might be easier to do tough,…

    It's pretty interesting to watch both the official trailer and an earlier, rather rushed performance on Masters of illusion. You'll find out one aspect that is not mentioned in the trailer.

    Why does every damn youtuber ask ppl to "like and subscribe" at the beginning of the video? Why would I like or subscribe to something that I haven't even seen yet? That's like a chef asking for a 4 star food review before he cooks the meal.

    • @RealMagicReview

      @@RealMagicReview returning viewers dont have ESP. You're still asking them to like something before they've seen it. You can avoid sounding like every other tool on CZcams by simply saying "don't forget to like and subscribe AFTER watching this video if you found it helpful or interesting."

    More and more tricks need special decks. More money for the creator and the dealer. However, I'm sure the audience somewhen know, or at least believe, there are looking at gaffed wonders. Then there is no magic. So learn good card magic with a regular deck, give the deck away as souvenir, an kill people. Saves you a lot of money.
