- Dillon Gabriel has not had the typical college football experience. But he's also not your typical starting quarterback. The 5'11" left-handed QB grew up in Hawaii and holds the record for all-time passing yards for all of Hawaii HS football. After breaking the passing record, Dillon Gabriel caught the attention of almost every school in the country. Gabriel went on to spend three seasons at UCF, before deciding to entire the transfer portal and eventually commit to Oklahoma. Amen to that. It was so close to the wire that we almost didn't have a QB. No matter what happened last year, DG saved the season. Because of that he will go down in OU football history as one of the greats. Character and loyalty are always at the top of my list of what makes a great human being.
DG is a calm, intelligent guy. I think he has the best season of his career coming up. Tons of support for him by Sooner Nation. OU is going to be scary next season.

That last left handed QB was more consistent, and was much smarter on the field than DG, also had better players and a better coach though.

I've been watching OU football since 1977 when I was old enough to understand what was going on. DG stayed there in that closed pocket and made that throw. If you want to compare Heupel and DG then wait for the end of the season. It's not over yet. I think last week's win and this one both helped DGs confidence and he will keep getting better. People think because a player isn't meeting their expectations that they won't get better. Look at Hurts, he is one of the best QBs in the NFL right now, because he kept getting better.

He reminds me of Josh Heupel and Baker Mayfield. Oklahoma was competitive in every game except the two games that DG was hurt. Oklahoma was a really bad football team without DG. I don't think we've seen his best at Oklahoma. Hopefully 2023 is his year. Everything isn't nearly as crazy as last year. Last year he had to play on the red team and the white team Because he was the only QB that knew enough plays during the spring. Hopefully everything is alot more solid this year

I know I'm going to make some enemies but just like last year Oklahoma won't be playing the best QB. DG needs to go through his progressions and find that open receiver, not throw into tight coverage and be more accurate and consistent. He won't be the reason why we lose but he will be the reason why we don't win 1 or 2 games this year.
