Can I share something as a bisexual person?
It took me a lifetime to understand my identity. I questioned whether I was gay, straight, or even needed to change my sex. Eventually, I realized that my attraction to different people was unpredictable. I spent years in confusion before understanding that I was bisexual. Even now, the term doesn't fully capture my experience, and I often wonder, "Am I really defining myself or others based on our sexual preferences?"
The truth is, being myself hasn't been easy, and it's still challenging today, almost 40 years later. It's hard to accept because, if you're gay or lesbian around my age or older, you know the hardships we faced, especially in the '90s.
Hearing terms like gay, lesbian, and especially "LGBTQ+" makes me uncomfortable because seeing kids today talk about gender as if it's a badge of honor or something you can choose offends me. It's not a choice or something you decide. Sometimes, it feels like a curse.
I feel more insecure and isolated now than I did in the past. I feel more afraid in this atmosphere of forced, mainstream acceptance than I did in the '90s when bullying and violence against gay people were common. In fact, I'm now less open about being bisexual in public because it ties me to certain people, ideologies, and politics.
It's strange, but I feel more alone, misunderstood, and in danger now than I ever have in my life. Absolutely.

I completely understand what you're going through or have gone through. I've been struggling with the fact that I'm a bi male my whole life! Never knowing what I am. It's gotta be the most confusing thing to be. Straight people think your gay (and guy's are exceptional assholes when it comes to judging you) and gay people think your just confused or in the closet. Either way you're ridiculed or made to feel ashamed about by both sides. I'm in my late 40s and have just now begun not hiding it from everyone. In the past I've lost a few male friends because I told them about myself and have been laughed at, or belittled by women when they found out.

As a straight white boomer I have to admit that a lot (not all, but a lot) of this has looked to me like people struggling with personal issues and adopting personas as a way to express their anxieties and obtain the social validation that they feel they won't get otherwise. This is not something new, it's just that social media have made it easy to broadcast, switching on the amplifier of social contagion. Does it portend the downfall of civilization? I doubt it. Will people made up like horror clowns have a hard time landing jobs? Probably. Is that my problem? No.

I agree. About ten years ago I become responsible by accident in a community group for a young woman who was transitioning to become a 'trans man'. She was very clearly struggling with her sexuality and also severely depressed. This was before 'trans' really became a widely discussed topic. To me, a straight white male boomer parent with straight male children she needed love and care to find her true self. She didn't need to mutilate her body at such a young age. I still think about her, it was such a horrendous situation, and I had no training as to what to do.

The wife and I used to book our trips to Walt Disney World during gay days and always had a blast. The crowds in the parks that were scheduled that day were lighter because many families would avoid that park and the gay community were always fun to hang out and converse with. Then it started to change and we noticed gay days at WDW became more political, more “in your face” and well…more like the Decadence festival you’d see in New Orleans. I witnessed men in the restrooms “behaving inappropriately”, t-shirts displaying sayings that were in poor taste in a family friendly place and just bad behavior in general -even to the point where other members of the gay community were apologizing to people concerning the behavior on display. So what used to be a fun time turned into something we avoided. Now, other people might have a totally different experience from ours, but I’m only offering what we witnessed. Could be different now, but somehow I doubt it.

Similar feminist and rainbow things have been inserted on top of pretty much every day, week or month that was for a male cause.

That scholarships uniquely for women are still a thing, while men's scholarships are not because that would be sexist, while the academic population has been over 50% for a few decades now?
That male victims of violence are deliberately pushed out of view through invention of the political term "violence against women"?
That none of men's issues are allowed to be spoken about, and that it's feminists who actively suppress those topics?
That safehouses for men need private funding because other sources come with the requirement that men are not welcome? (Since about 60s, look up the Erin Pizzey interview)
I could go on for a few pages.
And all you have is that trans people replaced women as favored cause?
Men are literally dieing by the droves and we aren't even supposed to talk about it.
Women's sports do have vocal supporters from both genders. Originally it was men saying that it wasn't a good idea, and feminists hated those men for it. Don't forget where this whole thing came from. Do not dare blame men for it.
As always, men do have women's backs.

But that’s how you grow as a person. I don’t know if these kids now days can even be happy with being “boring”. Or be happy at all. They don’t seem to have any type of personal connection with anyone. They’re quick to “go no contact” with their own parents because their parents didn’t parent them the way they think they should have. Finding your way in life isn’t easy and takes work.
And I try to be a good neighbor. We are friendly and helpful but we mind our own business but yet keep an eye on things. When we have our god sons we try to keep them out of other peoples areas. But if they see people they want to go and make new friends and want to ask them 100 questions. I was diagnosed in high school and before I was, it caused me a lot of problems. I was really good at my academics but I suffered with my social life. I called out in class, forgot to raise my hand, lost things all the time, and could not sit still. Through high school I got briefly involved with the group of people who dealt with identity politics. To fit in, I started trying to label myself with more mental disorders. I tried to convince myself I also had Autism. My mother talked me out of it and told me I didn’t need to label myself. There are some people today that still tell me I have symptoms that could be defined as Asperger’s but I’ve learned to just live my life. None of those symptoms cause me problems so it doesn’t matter. I also know I have the ADHD label but it doesn’t really matter as long as I manage it. I think people need to learn to love themselves without trying to fit themselves into boxes to get social points.
