    Is the Velotric Fold 1 the best lightweight folding ebike $999 can buy? This video explores the pros and cons of this electric bike and shows what it can do and what it cannot do. It's not a power monster, or a range monster, but it does have a UL certified battery that is verifiable by looking up the certification online instead of just a sticker and a picture on a website. If you want a light weight folding ebike this is certainly a well qualified contender to consider. Is it going to take you to the top of Mount Everest on throttle only? No. Is it going to do 99% of things you want to do within a 40 mile radius? Probably.
    Buy this folding ebike online through the link at the top of this text to support my reviews, it'll get shipped to your front door and there's virtually no assembly so you'll be able to start riding quickly.

    When I started shopping for e-bikes, I was looking to get out and get some exercise but have some help to get me started. I was 410 lbs.
    The 440 lb weight capacity is a big deal for some of us. I don't see this in most other models that I've shopped.
    I bought Packer 1s for my wife and I on their Black Friday sale for $1,500 each.
    Low carb and intermittent prolonged fasting of 3 to 10 days and I'm currently 80 lb lighter... And it just got warm enough to start riding the bike so... Definitely looking forward to it.
    I probably would have picked this bike up for ease of transport if it had been available.

    I love velotric bikes. Have 2 of them. I also have a hitway folding bike with 3" tires, very similar to this velotric fold but I got it brand new for $465. It's nice. 750w motor, 13ah battery, goes 28mph.

      Velotric bikes have a 440 lb weight capacity. Keep in mind that you will pay for the extra weight in shorter range though. I bought two of the Velotric Packers and I love them but they are a bit hefty at 75 lb.
      This one is close to half that weight and being able to fold it will make it a lot easier to transport.

    Looking for a cheaper ebike for my girlfriend. It will be nice to have someone to ride with. I've been looking for a cheaper folding ebike, I think that will be perfect for her. This one seems like a decent contender, but for about $250 less the Engwe L20 2.0 is looking a lot better. Seems like Veloteric has Engwe beat in the brakes department, that's about it. Anyways. Still a nice bike. I like the blue paint.

      Same here, I have a folding bike for the Padawans to use when riding with me.
      What's good about a folding bike: it is easy to ride, control, and it is safer too. Sitting low to the ground and one's feet more firmly planted on the ground, the rider feels more confident. And as Matt pointed out, the low profile bike is easy to mount and dismount. (Nothing will instill more fear in a rider than having difficulty getting on the bike and then having to manage getting off it.
      Your would be a wise purchase IMO.

      The engwe l20 is awesome. An older relative in my family bought one because he's 77 years old and doesn't have the strength to pedal a normal bike further than about 5 miles. It's a fast little thing as well we unlocked the top speed and got to 29mph lol although I put the EU restrictor back on it for him.

    Very impressive bike for the price point, especially the engineering that went into it. Just a few months ago a bike priced at under $1000 would have come with mechanical brakes, and probably powered by a 500 watt motor.
    In what I call the "Padawan category" this bike will give Velotric's competitors grave concern.

      We've noticed ebike prices coming down here in the UK as well. You used to only get a tiny 36v battery usually like 10ah at the most and now a lot are coming with decent 48v batteries. Still capped by the 250w power limit so the power is mediocre.

    Its a little short of 48v on that battery kinda of weird. It daid 46.8 for voltage and 608 wh. Kinda wierd. I have to two 48v 13ah batteries. Which equal 624wh this battery said 46.8v 608wh so that battery is a lilttle short. Also kinda of pointless to pit a 1100 watt peak with a controller with a maximum current of 18 amps. I get it though its for cargo and should give a little more range rather then a 25 amp controller even 20amp. Still you wont ever get that 1100 watt peak with a 18amp maximum cutrent

    • @Calihan
      @Calihan Před měsícem +2

      The 48v battery thing is just what some manufacturers do. It's comparable to power tool batteries. They list 18v and 20v batteries, but they're the same exact batteries. For the ebike battery, if it says 48v it's a 46.8v nominal battery.

    #2:51 you show 54 volts in your calculation for power output from the controller. That's incorrect, should be 48V. So it's actually a peak output of 18A x 48V = 864 watts.

    • @Tom-ol5zz

    • @rymalia
      @rymalia Před měsícem +1

      For the very limited amount of time that the battery is at 100% charge, it seems disingenuous to use 54V to calculate the output of a 48V battery & controller.

    • @chow-chihuang4903
      @chow-chihuang4903 Před měsícem +1

      I agree it’s disingenuous, but they’re not the ones not brand to do it.
      Should require them to show the math.
      The funny thing is he does flash up his math, but he rounds up at the lower end (17A*54.6V) 928.2W -> 930 and very generously rounds up the higher end (19A*54.6V) 1037.4W->1050. [He assumes +/-1A on the 18A controller X 54.6V.]
