I definitely get the Beatles & Teletubies reference. The first time I listened to the song, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it. But the more I listened & watched the MV it has really grown on me. You can't help but feel happy & it seems so Jimin. 65 years young US Army 😊

✨BTS‘ Jimin revealed the full track list for his upcoming second solo album, MUSE. Jimin’s quite successful first album FACE, still charting worldwide! The seven-song LP due out on July 19 KST (July 18 in other time zones), according to a billboard article, will feature the intro song “Rebirth,” as well as “Interlude : Showtime,” the pre-release song “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” (featuring Loco), “Slow Dance” (featuring Sofia Carson), as well as “Be Mine,” “Who”, (single can now be purchased as presale aside from 2 versions MUSE album), and “Closer Than This” (which dropped in December.)
Jimin, 28, wrote six of the songs, according to a release, composed, also finally listed as one of the producers for most of his songs, (though shown in Jimin’s documentary his involvement in producing all his songs), which also noted that the announcement from BIGHIT Music featured a vintage feel via images of old-school cassette tapes representing each song, with an overarching theme of “love” connecting all the tracks.
The hip-hop/R&B-leaning focus song, “Who,” was produced by Grammy-nominated singer/producer Jon Bellion, along with Pete Nappi, Tenroc, Pdgogg and GHSTLOOP, with a vibe described as “intense bounce and guitar sound.” In addition, the pre-release song “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” draws inspiration from marching bands, “blending hip-hop elements with the big band sound characterized by a large-scale orchestra, creating an upbeat, lively rhythm and dynamic atmosphere thanks to an assist from South Korean rapper Loco.”
Other contributors to the album include Tommy Brown (Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber), as well as producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP and EVAN, who also worked on Jimin’s first solo album, 2023’s FACE, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Jimin’s official solo debut came with the 2018 single “Promise.” Five years later, he became the first South Korean soloist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy,” followed by FACE‘s “Set Me Free, Pt. 2” reaching No. 30 on the chart.
Jimin is still in the midst of his 18-month mandatory South Korean military service, which he began in December; bandmate Jin recently became the first member of BTS to finish his military service.🙏👍❤🔥🔥🐥😍💥🌟💫✨

❣It’s Jimin’s voice doing the intro. Also Jimin & Loco sing live, aside from using mics, even wearing ear-ins. ️The “backup band” consists of legendary, genius producer Pdogg, who worked with BTS since beginning as producer & songwriter, also producers GHSTLOOP and EVAN, all 3 also worked alongside with Jimin for his first solo album, 2023’s FACE, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as for MUSE his 2nd album that will be released July 19 KST, July 18 in other time zones. During the documentary for FACE, there was even a fun quiz segment where all 4 named themselves Smeraldo Garden Marching Band, which at the time, no one had any idea other then it was just for fun! 🙏😅🤣😍

There’s a bit of a link from videos during his FACE promotions which Big Hit producers Pdogg, Evan & Gstloop worked w Jimin on this included & he also called themselves Smeraldo Marching band (their 1st appearance in this video) The 3 incl Jimin wrote this song along w some of same writers/producers he worked on FACE.
Also I’ve read in other comments he is singing live here. This was called a music track video & is a pre release to his album MUSE dropping 7/19.
And yes ARMY not surprised not many know about it bec BH/ HBE didn’t release a trailer for YT, TikTok. No promotions in general 🤦🏻♀️ thanks to ARMY, this is breaking records in 2024. And YES, the Bangtan boys worked nonstop before they left for military service.

❣️Jimin’s “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band”, is basically an ever so uplifting, filled with joy & happiness, love song, mainly for army who he references numerous times, like when mentioning “it started on June 12”, which was the actual debut of BTS where they met army for first time during a performance showcase. BTS official debut performance was next day on June 13. Also in the dance, the choreography, including the one for the dance challenge on tiktok, Jimin is even doing in sign language, the hand signs, for I love you, while dancing, ❤️ 👍🙏🥰☺️
The song also is in reference, an homage to the Beatles, as well as Beatles album Sgt Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band, which Jimin used as inspiration, even singing lyrics “I want to hold your hand”! An excellent clue already happened in the vid: “A Day with Jimin in NYC by vogue, (perhaps you might want to watch it), which was basically a behind the scene, filmed during the time Jimin debuted “Like Crazy” on Jimmy Fallon show last yr. same day his album FACE dropped. It showed Jimin, before going to a dance practice, rehearsing Like Crazy for Fallon tonight show, going to a record store, along with producer Pdogg, who worked along side of Jimin throughout both albums FACE & MUSE. where Jimin pulled out that very record by the Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club album, even holding it up. It seemed sort of unexpected? Now I wonder if it was planted there? Who knew at the time that it was a reference, a hint for telling just how much of an influence it had toward creating this song & MV. 👍🙏❤️🔥🔥😍💫✨

The mv is inspired by the Beatles' sgt pepper album! They performed under a fictional band name when they wanted to change their sound and i think Jimin is doing something similar in a fun way haha. Pdogg, Evan and Ghostloop are his producer team that he worked with on Face too. The Smeraldo reference is from Truth untold which is a story of a man who hid himself and his feelings away without ever confessing to his love and here Jimin is kind of playing Cupid getting people together haha. The MV has very Wes Anderson and 60s movies vibes. With some Alice in wonderland and Charlie and the chocolate factory references!

Based on the hints Jimin gave, I think this song is a continuation of their song The Truth Untold, what is based on an old 16th-17th century Italian love story in the city, "la Citta di smeraldo". The story is about a man who didn't dare confess his love and the object of his love died. Now in this song, Jimin urges you to tell about the feelings of love and not to hide them. Blue and white flower Smeraldo is a fictional flower developed by bts.

The three guys are producers they worked on Face. They came up with this name when producing face. This was live , I think because jimin can't perform this live for an audience at this point

This is such an unexpectedly cute summer bop! It's so different from what Jimin did on Face, glad he set himself free and decided to cheerfully sing and dance, can't.wait to aee what else he does on the album.

As always there are 2 ways to interpret. One is the musical video as you see and the other is the Army pov with many Easter eggs.
12th June - the date mentioned in lyrics is the day before debut . But 12 th was their first show case when they first met Armys.
Smeraldo - the fictional flower. A reference to it in their BU story line and their song THE TRUTH UNTOLD
The lyrics have references to lyrics there.
A few other Easter eggs like their hand gestures and making the sign language for LOVE as in PTD.

Smeraldo is the flower they created for the BU, for the song The Truth Untold. The flower is pink and blue (painted) and appears throughout the BU videos. In The Truth Untold, the person created the flower and then filled an entire garden of these flowers for the girl that he fell in love with. He was too afraid of rejection to actually speak with her, though. Not quite sure what that flower and the garden have to do with a marching band, but that's the lore behind the Smeraldo.

Smeraldo Garden Marching Band is the name Jimin and his producers, PDogg, Ghstloop, and Evan gave themselves while making his album FACE and this one, MUSE, which will be released on July 19th. They were having fun with the name of the fictitious flower BTS have in their Bangtan Universe and which is mentioned in their song “The Truth Untold”.
Jimin and Loco were indeed singing live as this us a Track video, not an MV.
There seems to be a throwback to The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s album in the video as well as a mention to “it all started on June 12th…” which is when BTS had their firts showcase, though their official debut date is June 13th.
I think the video represents the beginning of ARMY with the kids as most fans would have been around BTS’ ages and then it shows them grownup as BTS has also grown up. At the end there is a group of young and old since ARMY is made up of all ages and new fans keep showing up.

Amari, Jimin is the King of bridges! Also, a few others have commented that this is a live vocal track. Two other BTS-related recorded vocal performances that immediately came to my mind were Jungkook's 3D Performance video & his Audacy Live performance.
