I appreciate every one of your videos. First time leaving a comment but I just wanted to say I appreciate all of them and the time you put into them. Hard to find a good channel like this to watch anymore. Keep it up.
I was in Als French Frys the other night getting supper. There was an older guy ahead of me in the serpentine line wearing a Mack trucks hat. I asked if he drove Macks. He lit up and told me he had owned and ran four Mack gravel trucks including one with a 5x4 trans and real man steering. I told him I drove CF600 fire apparatus in the 80s. Of course the wives had their eyeballs all rolled back in their heads. Good fun.
Lots of driving action, loading and unloading, breakdowns, switching trucks.,running excavators;doesn't get any better than that! Great video Mike, thanks.
Great video Mike. I'm a retired trucker, also drove a W-900 and a T-800. Great trucks. I worked for a company for 37 years, but traffic was starting to get to me so i decided to hang it up. Enjoying retirement. Wish the best for your Dad. Keep the videos coming, take care of yourself.
I drove a CH mack, 427 eaton 18spd, tip truck, tipping dog. In one week I had the hinge on one side of the truck tipper body bust off the rear of the chassis frame and the only thing that stopped the body falling off and hitting the other company truck beside me was the hydraulic ram binding in the well enough to jolt the load loose. Apparently the new guy had built that body and did the hinge reinforcing wrong. Then a few days later I got the truck back mid morning and first load up leaving the site via a roundabout, (they didnt do the top asphalt seal until after construction and there was a bit over an inch step going in and out of the roundabouts in the subdivision), on the exit from the roundabout there was an almighty bang, when I got out and looked it had blown the trunion for the 6 rod to bits. Mack had one in stock. Wasnt a commonly sold part apparently. i liked that truck, drove better than any airbag tip truck ive ever driven.
Awesome video Mike!! I really enjoy all the videos that you make I know it takes a lot of time and effort to do this and I appreciate it keep up the great work and nothing but continued success!!!

Hope your Dad is doing ok. I have great respect for you, the way you keep any truck you drive looking top notch. I try to do the same, even in the Bakken oilfield in ND. It's certainly not easy and takes Alot of effort. We run dirt roads for the most part. You do a fantastic job and I enjoy your videos. I'm with you on automatic transmissions. prayers for you, your dad, and family , Wow APA trailers, I would like to share the little info I have about that company. First off, the local people were very proud to work for that company, and the general feeling was if you worked for them you were made. I lived not too far from their corporate headquarters, which was located in North Bergen, New Jersey. The property was huge with many of buildings. 1st off, every female who worked there, it was either Valentine's day, or secretaries day received a dozen roses. 2nd There was an annual company cruise, not sure how it worked, most likely at a good discount, or somehow at a reduced rate or even free, as I say not really of those details but there was an annual cruise. 3RD The man who owned it , and started with his two brothers , they started it with two used army trucks, and grew the company to the fourth-largest freight trucking company in the country. he / they were ahead of his time, at that location, in North Bergen, he built a large gymnasium, with a complete state of the art weight room, and a heated Olympic sized swimming pool, as well as, an official sized basketball court, steam room, and saunas, the membership was free for the employees , he did this for his employees. After a bunch of years, APA allowed leagues to use his facilities, I know in fact, which I will get into in a few lines , that he had allowed for wheelchair basketball leagues to use the complete facilities. The place was immaculate and well cared for. The gentleman who owned it, Arthur Imperatore, bought what was called at the time, the New Nets, basketball team, and they used that facility at times to practice. Two things happened simultaneously, the professional basketball team complained the floor was too stiff, as well as there was a leak in the atrium, and the water fountain area in the facility which caused the basketball gymnasium, to buckle. So Mr. Imperatore, bought the floor, from the Brendan Byrne arena ( another place that has had 3 Names the last one before it closed was the izod center ) At the time , the arena was replacing their floor , so he bought the old one , and I was a part of a team that put it in. I dismantled the original floor, and installed the 5/4 inch maple flooring on tracks with a base cushion for give and support, , one of the stipulations was it had to have handicap access, so I built a ramp for this to meet this requirement and to become flush with the rest of the floor's surface. the floor was professionally sanded, and he used his, painting shop, to draw and hand paint the basketball lines, it was a father and son team, whom painted all of the trucks and logos. They were amazing. a few years later , maybe 10, the Owner of APA trucking Arthur Imperatore , opened and started New York Waterways, NY waterway ferry service, between New York and New Jersey . Ironically, I really don't know the little details , but as they closed down, and were selling equipment, I was contacted , and I bought a trailer from them to put my tools in they drove the trailer to my home , and placed it onto my property. it was a Great Dane Trailer. , it is believed the family still ownes the waterway ferry service. he was one of ten children , and lived in a two bedroom apartment, second youngest. glad you remember that company. thanks , you have a great channel.
Prayers up for dad, lost mine a couple years back, so hope yours has a better outcome. I agree on the automatics, kinda sad really. Plus a lot of these new steering wheel holders can't even drive a 9 or 10 speed, much less a 13 or 18. In NY State if a driver takes a CDL-A road test on an automatic tractor, his CDL-A license will have the restriction on it that he's only legal to drive an automatic. I guess that could get interesting when the guy is out in the middle of nowhere, breaks down and Penske or Ryder brings him a replacement tractor with a manual. The T880 is a nice unit, the cab is a lot roomier than the T800 or W900, more width, more legroom and better visibility, and quieter, if you haven't driven one, you'd like it.
@@TheBostonTrucker I agree. That just goes along with today's rookies, they don't want to do any work and shifting gears is just too tough for them. Half of these clowns think manual labor is the President of Mexico. No clue why anybody would want to get a restricted CDL-A, I must be missing something, guess I'm just an old school idiot.
Bad things happen in groups of threes. Don’t know why but it sure seems to be true and I don’t think there’s a whole lot you can do about it. You can’t defeat the rhythm of the universe or Murphy! I enjoy the videos big time! Im a beginning trucker getting my cdl right now over in little rhody. Did my first road time today. Went well! U cant float em during the test. They make ya double clutch which is a trick when down shifting. Overall went well, coudnt be more happy. Its going faster than i though the classes would. Im going to international CDL training in johnston. Dont know if ya ever heard of it. Good bunch of guys there. Very experienced guys. Cant wait to get out of the classes and start making money again!
@@TheBostonTrucker haha yes! Felt natural. I cant help but feel rushed in traffic still. Im used to keeping up with traffic demands of normal everyday vehicles in my pickup truck. Starting off at turtle pace makes me anxious. Thats my biggest thing so far.
Hello, when u get a little older & the doc says your left knee is gonna have to be replaced if u keep pushing that clutch in, than you will start driving a Automatic shifting truck & love it & may say " I should have been driving these years ago 😂😁
True team player ... Gotta do whatever to keep things moving and keep making money! It's great to see companies that actually encourage this type of behavior! So glad to see how well they treat you, ALMOST be worth moving just to work with such a great outfit!
Hey Mike sorry to hear about your father's condition going down 😓😔 good seeing keeping your chin up and work hard as ALWAYS.. wow that turbo sound is addictive of your old truck!!.. You can drive my truck for a week *wink wink*

Mike I’m really surprised you didn’t have the steering wheel in the 800 clocked correctly. That shit would drive me crazy. Like you I’m old school truck driver. @@TheBostonTrucker they can get a little much sometimes aye, I drove one for a while and the whistle was that loud even with windows up you couldn't get away from it. They do sound cool though
I have a friend that drives for a Hydrovac company in Alberta Canada who brings new Peterbilt cab and chassis from Denton Tx to Canada to be built out. He picked one up a month ago and made it 1200 miles and the brand new truck broke down. They towed it to the dealership who said it was a wiring issue. A week and a half later they said it was done so he flew in to get it.. made it about 5 blocks and it quit again.. junky new pos trucks!!
Your technicians are analogous to the dishwasher at Ruth Chris Steak House, without either, you are out of business real fast! Have a great week Mike!!🇺🇸
I noticed that you used the term, "comes with" references to auto or manual transmissions. My son works for Peterbilt Trucks at the factory and we both know that Paccar owns both. Trucks are ordered by the customer and/or the Truck lot. Each and every one is it's own and doesn't "Come with " any particular transmission. Some of the smaller trucks may come with certain transmissions, but I am not sure about that. Just wanted to make sure that your followers understands how Trucks "come". I Enjoy your channel and best of trucking and luck to you. Almost forgot, praying for you dad.
@@TheBostonTrucker yeah, they get smashed constantly. Had a lovely boulder come thru the left side and out thru the windshield. Coming across i 90 in a construction zone at around 75ish. Truck was just checkin to make sure i was awake.😁
awesome video they keep getting better!! as an owner The problem with manual these days is finding guys to drive because a lot of new guys don't have the manual endorsement or they just beat them up way too much. So its easier to buy autos and have a larger hiring pool. It is sad I am 25 and would rather drive a manual but from the business stand point its better to buy Auto.
@@TheBostonTrucker I agree I try to throw them in the older trucks and will pay for them to go to school and have the vets drive with them so they can learn. I even hop in the truck with the vets like yourself to learn a thing or two. Its the smart thing to do I am loosing money in the short run but I try to pay top dollar so guys stick around then in the long run I am making money off they effort I have put in earlier I hope
I daily a T680 auto at my LTL job, not a bad rig but I wish the cab were built better for tall people. I struggle between pain in my lower back or my right knee because the cab design doesn't allow me enough legroom. There is no ideal seating position. We have old bubble-nose Cascadias and Volvo daycabs in the fleet (also auto) and they're way more comfortable for long seat-time hauls. I keep pressuring the company to get Western Stars but no luck!
Hey BostonTrucker...Workin' trucks or broken trucks...a day (or two) on-the-job with you is always fun. Thanks so much, Mike...and, love to your Dad.

A week and a half later they said it was done so he flew in to get it.. made it about 5 blocks and it quit again.. junky new pos trucks!!
That's unbelievable!
Sunday afternoon video I thought you forgot about your public 😝 just kidding have a great rest of your weekend
Me? Never! 😂 It was supposed to post this morning but I had technical difficulties.
@@TheBostonTrucker it happens maybe Putins fault 😂
The company my dad worked for they had 12 t880s and 1 w900b tri axl dump they were all manuals I love my w900s
Great construction trucks!
You are so lucky to have a qualified technician in house!!🇺🇸
They do a good job.
Your technicians are analogous to the dishwasher at Ruth Chris Steak House, without either, you are out of business real fast! Have a great week Mike!!🇺🇸
Mike, continued thoughts and prayers for your Father.🙏
Thanks Jamie
That's where I went for CDL training. Ed was the guy I worked with.
Oh wow that's crazy! I worked with Dave the owner and his son Jr. back in 1988.
@@TheBostonTrucker Dave was a former Registry officer??
I noticed that you used the term, "comes with" references to auto or manual transmissions. My son works for Peterbilt Trucks at the factory and we both know that Paccar owns both. Trucks are ordered by the customer and/or the Truck lot. Each and every one is it's own and doesn't "Come with " any particular transmission. Some of the smaller trucks may come with certain transmissions, but I am not sure about that. Just wanted to make sure that your followers understands how Trucks "come". I Enjoy your channel and best of trucking and luck to you. Almost forgot, praying for you dad.
Thank you, didn't realize I did that. I appreciate you.
It really sucks breaking down, but when you brake down it's like a domino effect something else is wrong
Lots of things breaking at the same time.
I drive an 880 with an 18 speed. JA Miara, out of Wilmington, maybe you’ve seen me around. I’ve seen you around a few times! Enjoy the videos!
Yes I see you guys all the time, I'll have to keep my eyes out for you.
Nice video.
Sometimes it's good to change things up,minus the breakdowns of coarse.
I don't mind switching it up once in a while.
T 400 flat plate in floor of Dump Trailer but drawback is lower Tare weight Boss Ton !!!
Yes I suppose that's true.
great video. Keep it up.
Thank you
Clean truck is a happy truck and driver
👍 💯
Great video mikie. I sure wish i could keep the corner windows in my t800. Last 1 replaced last 2 days! Stupid quarter fenders.
Are you saying yours get broken from rocks? I don't think these have ever been broken before but yeah it's got full fenders.
@@TheBostonTrucker yeah, they get smashed constantly. Had a lovely boulder come thru the left side and out thru the windshield. Coming across i 90 in a construction zone at around 75ish. Truck was just checkin to make sure i was awake.😁
I Want one of those APA signs for my collection.
There’s a T880 at my work with an 18 speed manual. It’s a nice truck
I've haven't driven one yet.
Brockton baby !!! Born and raised there myself
Go Bulldogs! 😉
You're a jack of all trades Mike
You have to be. 😊
awesome video they keep getting better!! as an owner The problem with manual these days is finding guys to drive because a lot of new guys don't have the manual endorsement or they just beat them up way too much. So its easier to buy autos and have a larger hiring pool. It is sad I am 25 and would rather drive a manual but from the business stand point its better to buy Auto.
That's what my boss says too but if a driver doesn't have the skills to shift the truck then you have to worry what other skills they're lacking.
Guess there's one good plus for being short. I miss LTL sometimes. Kenworth is probably the worse for legroom along with International.
@@TheBostonTrucker LTL linehaul by night beats how I got my start, slinging cases of beer by day! I have no love for International.
Great video im new to trucking any tips on backing up?
Welcome aboard! Four-ways on every time you back up!
Nice job mike!
Thank you 😌
Liked the yellow frame on the black dump don’t see that too often
