Daniel Defense's customer service is outstanding! I bought my DDM4V7 back in 2015 and in 2020 I noticed that the rounds where keyhoing, I had around 50k rounds through it. I decide to see if there "100% guarantee" was true and what they would do. I took it to the gun store that worked at and did an RMA and sent it back to them. to my surprise they replaced the barrel, gas block, gas tube, bcg, buffer and spring, pistol grip, and the butt stock that Lucas loves so much, and included a free mag! I have worked in the firearms business for over 20 years and there customer service is one of the best.
Impressive, good customer service is everything to me.
Great to know I plan on getting this once I'm out of the army in a few months 🙌

Right??!! "Trends" 🤫🙄 Now that "Passive Aiming" thru NOD's is all the rage and that GBRS (whatever) Group made the Unity high mounts sell out.......height over bore is the 🤫🤫🤫 stuff now🤣
My problem with the piggy back was never the height over bore. It was having to chin weld on the piggy back, which is uncomfortable and less controllable. I like to have a solid cheek rest on my gun when firing. The piggy back disrupts that.
The whole height over bore thing makes me laugh when people have t2's on a 1.93 on something like a midwest industries ak side rail mount.

I prefer that to 45, I just cant shoot a rifle like that

The detail always impresses me. Adding in the video footage of how to access the 50 round rifle drill was a small touch but shows attention to detail and dedication to teaching
Regarding the QD point, the back QD point near the magwell has an attachment that you can move the to the front QD, that's why it wasn't engaging.
Yeah literally the second thing I did after moving the foregrip to the rear of the gas block. It’s like they expected me to be 7 feet tall instead of the paltry 5’8” that I actually am.

@@kobeh6185 DD is all about weight savings. I'm assuming it's because the movable QD section is steel and DD doesn't want extra weight on the rail. I'm glad the QD section is steel - makes a lot of sense NOT to just mill a QD insert directly into an aluminum rail where it will eventually wear out with repeated use with steel QD sling mounts.

Millions of DDs rifles have been sold. Millions upon millions. This was the first shooting that I've heard of that one of DDs rifles was used. So that's like 0.01% of DDs rifles used unlawfully. Over 40 Million AR15s approximately are in America yet less than 500 deaths are attributed to all rifles every year. It's insane that people still blame the gun.

Actually had the exact same issue with my mag pull sling. QD wouldn’t lock in a few times. Eventually got it to stick. Love my V7, absolutely astonishing rifle to have, and a pleasure to shoot.

I feel your pain brother..i live in Greece and the laws are ridiculous here also. 1.5 year of range shooting (paying etc) to get a license to shoot a pistol only when you are in range and if the government decides to remove your license because of the leftish mob you lose a 1k pistol even if you paid for it.

I've got a few things to say.
I respect highly your dedication to our cause. I highly respect you for not being held responsible for the actions of bad people.
Secondly: I have one radical firearms rifle that I paid 750 bucks for, another one that was an upper which I put on an anderson lower, I've got another Del-Ton rifle. Three of the cheapest pieces of work money can buy. They all shoot very well, they all needed trigger work or a drop in, but point being, for a beginner, there's hundreds and hundreds of good accurate reliable ARs out there that cost half and won't fail under thousands of rounds of abuse.
I've done gas rings on a couple of them, I clean more often than most folks should because I'm a hand loader and coyote hunter as well and do a ton of testing out of my regular daily carry rifles.
Just wanted to share to anyone still looking to you for some advice, I get dime sized groups out of an 18 inch radical firearms stainless barrel on two different uppers. Dirt cheap. If I paid 1800 bucks for a rifle it would literally better come fully set up for a cloak and dagger mission [minus the IR]

How is the slightly longer barrel compared to a couple inches shorter? I'm considering the pro, but 18" slightly bugs me. Any cons?

Magpul makes these awesome little M.lok grip pads, they come in a 3 individual section box, and work wonders for helping keep the heat from the hand with the skinny rails. I can slang a couple 60 rounders through and its just warm.
This was a good video, the rant at the end is what makes this a great video. I personally love DD. They make the best CHF barrels on the market and their BCGs are some of the best. The MK18 is a DD product. I’m not a huge fan of the DD rails although I like their lock up system. When Geissele introduced the URGI that came with a DD CHF barrel it was a dream come true

@@ryanburbridge you mean the rant I speak of in my comment or me talking about the quality of Daniel Defense barrels and stuff? Trex arms at the end of his video said “sorry to rant” when he was talking about the importance of standing up to the anti gunners and not giving them an inch basically ranting about current events and new gun laws liberals are trying to force upon us and stating the importance of the second amendment. Trex arms has a sound understanding of the second amendment and why any gun law or regulations or a direct violation and not only do they not stop crime but they cause crime and give power to the government. The rest of my comment was just stating I’m a fan of Daniel Defense for the quality of their barrels and BCGs but I’m not a fan of their furniture or rails. Geissele building out a rifle with a DD barrel is awesome. I’m not sure how much faith I have in Geissele BCG and kinda wish they used Daniel Defenses BCG. I’ve bought 3 of the URGIs and so far one of them didn’t have correct head spacing and the one that didn’t have correct head space was using Geisseles new barrel line and not Daniel Defenses barrels. Also Trex talking about how Daniel giving into the anti gunners was shameful. We cannot give democrats an inch. We need to be regaining our second amendment rights not losing more of them.

I wondered about the "mil-spec" trigger buying mine. But I think it's actually really smooth and I shot it much better than I expected at a Warrior Poet Rifle 2 class. Certainly much better than the stock trigger I had on my SIG M-400. So much that I hesitate to replace it with a Gieselle I have on hand.

A DD sales rep told me the reason the foregrip is far forward is because they dont want people to use it out the box they want you to set it up for you. They found most people dont move it if you put it in the middle of the rail.
I figured this was exactly the reason for that
DD so passionate about their products they design and create .. They think about the little things like this!
Many people use a very forward support arm grip thesedays. I don’t adjust mine for the most part since I’m using a modified C clamp grip to help drive the barrel in transitions.

I have had the same issue on all my Daniel Defense rifles with the magpul qd adapter not clicking in. I called Daniel and they were awesome. They addressed the problem by over nighting me some adapter parts for it. Resolved the problem immediately.
I bought the DDM4 V7 LW upper a week before all the bs. Outstanding upper, solid, accurate, I love it.
DD pulls out of NRA meeting and you do this. Immensely based.

I own 2 Daniel defense guns, 16 inch v7 and a 10.3 300 blk. They’re are kinda pricy but they 100% worth the price. Can’t say enough about their v7 guns.
And with the QD mounts you have to use the DD QD mounts that come with the gun on the QD slot you are using. They say the point of that is the QD mounts are steel and will prevent the aluminum hand guard from getting messed up over time
Nice. I got a v11 (keymod is gross i know) and a mk18 that I threw an mlok rail on because the ris 2 rail that came on it is so bulky and heavy and I dont use many attachments. They truly are the best ar15s iv shot. The v11 does around moa groups on average. I shot that gun in the thousands before cleaning and it has never had an issue.

Great video man. I usually build all of my AR’s and i ended up buying a DDM4V7 about 6 months ago just to have something factory built to compare to my builds. It was ok out of the box but i ended up changing the stock, grip and trigger guard, trigger, buffer weight, safety selector, and put a ADM QD mount with LPVO on it . Now the rifle shoots great and feels great. Thanks for standing up for the 2A community and speaking your mind!
Why did you change the trigger guard? That always seemed unnecessary to me.

I'm new to the AR platform and about to get my first one which is an LWRC. I've been shooting my SIG P220ST for over 20 years and this is my first AR. I've been watching a lot of videos about them and this one was particularly great, I really enjoyed it and appreciated the ACOG optics part, which was really is a PIA to try and figure out what to buy with all of the options out there and visual variables. This video helped me a lot, appreciate it.

I’m not a new gun owner and I bought a ddm4v7 because i wanted something that I know would work if I ever needed to defend my family with it.
I have a v11, and ran it to over 3000 before cleaning without one single hickup. The trigger is rough so I threw a SSA- E in it. And ditched the rear grip. But other than those 2 things it's a rock and roller.

Wow, I used magpul QD’s on my DDM4V11 LW they seem to fit very well on my rifle. Great video , thank you for sharing.
RE: 18:00 - The DDM4V comes with a QD plate in the rear position on the 9 o'clock side of the rail (from the back). The standard MagPul QD works like a charm in it. The front hole needs that plate repositioned.

Agreed, I realized this very quickly. The DDM4V7 has 3 positions for QD mounts (I bought MagPul). The stock, the lower and a QD plate where Commenter mentioned. Problem is the QD mount hit the government profile barrel to the point where it doesn't completely snap in (You might be able to grind the QD mount down if you really want it in that specific location). I simply moved the plate to the 11 o'clock and it resolved the issue.

I bought a pic mounted offset QD mount that is wonderful, but curious what exactly your describing. I have yet to see any movable QD item in my DD rifle.
@@bryanduchane2371 I too wish I could just send a pic. That being said, if you go exactly to min 29:04 there is a portion on the rifle that sticks out, a metal plate with a hole to be exact. Its off-color. You can remove the small metal plate which goes over the Rail with a hex and then move it like any other M-lock attachment to another QR hole on the rail eitheraround the beginning rail or at the tip by the muzzle. I hope this helps. Otherwise googling an image may aid you.
@@EphemeralF Is it the place he's attaching his sling to? If so, that appears to be one added and not from the factory as part of the rail. I've bought the same connector as he shows on top of the rail....

Bought the DDM4V7 Pro that came with radian charging handle and geissle super dynamic trigger and safety switch. Gunmetal gray with accessories in anodized red. Was my first one and I absolutely love it. Incredibly accurate, wonderful trigger. Very happy with the purchase. Will be looking for other DD’s in the future.

@@pneu9059 yea i'm torn... obviously i too am pro 2A, DD is a great company and not responsible for their customers actions, and i even agree with his speech at the end of this vid that just because some maniac uses it to kill people, that doesn't discredit other models of this specific rifle being used in a positive way. That being said... it does seem a little insensitive to post a YT vid review on the specific rifle just used in a mass shooting, and be like "yea, great rifle" like.. yea, it is, but some could see this vid as trying to use a tragedy to get more clicks, unfortunately.

Nice review and setup. While I own LPVOs, I'm a fan of the ACOG as well. The relative light weight is a big advantage, as is the ease of mounting and durability. I like a BCM short vertical grip on everything, even a longer gun. It just gives you more options for maneuvering the gun and also can be a used to brace against barriers.

Is it advisable (or even possible) to swap out the bolt release for a standard sized one, so that a BAD level can be used? What about the ASAP sling mount (assuming you're able to properly re-stake the castle nut)?

DD rifle has a sling bracket that you must move to one of the holes located on the rail, you can see in the video its in the default setting, near the upper of the ejection port.
^this also the ambi side of the safety can be removed in one screw....just saying lol
I have a older gen with the old round/circular rail. Only have 2.2k rounds through it but it’s worked flawlessly so far. I actually got a failure to extract the first time on my Glock with some rounds that my buddy was having problems feeding through his shadow systems. Old school DD used to come with a2 grips, magpul stock, and standard bolt release.

- and old school flash suppressor I found lol.
I pick it up every night and it’s the weapon I’m most naturally proficient with. Can hit 300 yard targets 95% of the time.

Lucas, I love you bro, but Daniel does not intend that you leave the grip all the way out to the muzzle. When their sales rep was at my store, he (Nathan) told us they ship them mounted all the way out like that because it forces people to move it and fit the rifle to themselves. I guess newer people are reluctant to take anything apart, DD tries to get them to pop that cherry with the foregrip.
That's a cool philosophy of dd. Lucas is like 6'4 so I think that coincidentally is the ideal placement for him.

I had the same issue with my DDM4V7 SLW and Magpul QDs. I found after inserting, you have to spin them a little bit for the balls to engage. It seems the tracks are split into sections to keep the clips from spinning 360 which is actually nice

i rented one years ago when i had just gotten into guns and you didn't need any real experience with them to know that you were shooting an extremely high quality AR-15. by the time I realized what an awesome experience it was years later, I had already built a million budget rifles and it just didn't justify buying the DDM4. I'm getting it now though. Really beautiful and quality AR-15.
