- As a Christian, you've probably heard about needing boundaries in dating, but how about with people of the opposite sex in general? Any Christian relationship advice should tell you, If you are single or even if you are married, it is important to establish what is okay and what is not okay with friends, coworkers, girls, or guys of the opposite gender.
If you are single, boundaries help keep you from temptation with the opposite sex by guarding your heart and staying pure before God in every area of your life. And as a married couple, boundaries help keep your hearts only on the Lord and on your spouse.
So join Ronnie and Mel in this video where we talk through having Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual, Communication, and time boundaries with men or women of the opposite sex. We want to guard our own hearts but we also want to fight for purity for our brothers and sisters in Christ!

I love this because 3 weeks ago I met an amazing Christian guy. We talked about setting boundaries and making goals for our future relationship. We’re not even dating yet but we know we like each other. I believe taking it slow and working on our friendship and relationship with the Lord (individually and together) will help us grow!

God has given me strict boundaries with men just like He gave you, and gosh... I can't explain how many people try and convince me to take the boundaries down. Guys get their panties in a bundle when I tell them that I do not do casual texting, etc, etc. And then some women make me feel like I'm being too harsh by not wanting to talk to 'guy friends' all the time. Thankfully I have one or two strong women mentors in my life that believes otherwise, but wow! It's wild being set a part in today's word where most people don't understand the VALUE in having boundaries that protect and guard your heart. And a lot of people are even 'Christians' who walk in unhealthy communication with the opposite genders. I pray and wish more single men and women would understand this. It's even worse when guys make you feel bad for having the boundaries, when in all actuality... I'm over here praying and wishing... (forgive me) "Can't you be more of a man and protect and guard ladies hearts?" No Christian guy should just be aimlessly texting girls randomly all the time especially when they have communicated more than once that they are not interested in anything more than friends. That is so inconsiderate to their heart.

What stood out to me the most was fighting for each other's purity. Never ever wanting to be the reason or cause as to why and how a brother or sister stumbles. That, is so beautiful. I have seen and heard of people getting into relationships without the right kind of boundaries or goals, they ended up hurting each other. There is a person I am into right now but I didn't jump right into a relationship because that's just what too many people do. instead I prayed and fasted and the Lord gave me confirmation to wait. so even when my emotions are saying go after and pursue her because I genuinely have feelings for her, I decided I would listen to the voice of God and wait on the Lord. I refuse to move when God says to wait because I am convinced that if i act outside of God's will in any area in my life, people and myself included will always get hurt. As a result, God is now working in my life and he is showing me areas that I need to work on. I am thankful for every season of singleness though it may be confusing to navigate at times it is necessary for growth, and for that, I am very thankful. Thank you for making this video, it gives clarity as to some questions I had.

This is an eye opener to all christian youth, these kind of discussion needs in every church because young generation now adays has a lot of peer pressure because no one teaches them.

I just met this good and holy young lady and we haven't really been able to meet ever since the spread of the coronavirius, but I feel the Lord is asking me to pray for her and use this time to grow closer to Him first. We've texted only a handful of times and there's a deeper love that keeps growing inside me. I can't say the same about her, but I'm trusting that God has everything in His hands and helping me become a better and chaste man.

When you say you feel the Lord is asking you to pray for her and use this time to get closer to him, do you mean you have a deep intuition regarding this pace...Because I am in the same situation, and felt a deep spiritual connection with this man and had only texted a handful of times and spoke only twice. once video call the other regular call...but he seems distant, and I don't know whats going on thru his mind, so I wanted to understand certain things from a man's perspective.
Since he pulled away twice and came back twice, I had the same feeling which you got...of God wanting me to be closer to him and trust him, until he comes back with a clear head.

@@deepdiver849 I think some men hold back because they are afraid or have experienced hurt. I've always been the type of guy to not play it safe, but make sure my heart is in the right place because when one let's their heart out of the box, it's vulnerable and open to being hurt.
I think for decent guys, it's them not wanting to hurt you, as well as themselves. I'd ask him the question.

Something that stood out to me was Ronnie’s comment on praying for someone of the opposite sex. I thought I was crazy for progressively catching feelings for someone i was constantly praying for. I’m relieved to know that I’m not the only one...

This is so great! Setting boundaries can feel awkward at first, but it is soo soo worth it! As a new christian, who later on learned about boundaries, i lost a few christian guy friends because they didnt think boundaries were important and thought i was crazy, and although that was difficult when i met my husband it was totally different! We were totally on the same page through our friendship, courtship, dating, engagement and now marriage! We had “strict” boundaries in the eyes of many, but honestly it gave us so much freedom and peace in our relationship! Virtually no struggle with temptation, so we could really hear God in how He was directing our relationship! I dont regret any single one of our “strict” boundaries, because now that we are married we get to enjoy the oneness of marriage, but had we not gotten married we would have walked away from the relationship both having been protected from sin!

Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you. This video was helpful. As a single woman in her 20's praying for my future spouse it is definitely important to hold boundaries. I've never thought about writing them down! Also, what stood out to me is how our heart gets connected to someone when we pray for them. I think it's interesting to guard your heart in that sense too. Lastly, I love how you and mel talked about the definition of a boundary. I love this video so much. My mum has often taught me about boundaries as far as relating to the opposite sex is concerned. So good 😊 to see others sharing about them and to know that I am not weird. Yes, this is the correct way to do it! My mom was right all along. I wish I had listened to her. Young brothers and sisters, purity is such a blessing! Obey your parents!! Yes, glory to God because He can redeem!! But setting purity boundaries will save you from so much heartache, bad consequences and even satanic attacks.
Lately I felt god placing this on my heart so i started watching these vids and told my girlfriend. Just tonight we made a whole list of boundaries and expectations and I'm so glad we did. I know entering inyo this covenant with the lord keeping him 1st will help me and her out so much later on and even now. So i hope y'all can keep us in your prayers that we will follow through with these boundaries and resist temptation. Its been 2 hours and havent broke one yet so off to a good start 😂. Anwyays thanks ronnie and Mel for being an good example and positive influence on us and everyone hear, we look up to you and appreciate what you do. Godbless!

My wife and I have a lot of unwritten boundaries but they’re definitely there. The key is a right relationship with God then on a personal relationship level I think its honesty and communication, the rest flows from there.

I just wanted to say thank you for making that prayer packet. I printed it out today at work and was going through a spiritual attack. I've been a Christian for 6 years but I have never experienced such a powerful prayer time, not in a while at least. I went in my prayer room and went to battle in prayer and used that prayer clock and god was talking to me so much. I always write what he tells me so I journaled, cried, prayed, thanked him. He revealed some things to me and I'm so grateful. I included you both in my prayer intersession as well. God told me these prayer packets have been prayed over and it was weird... It was like I got the feeling that this has already been prayed over as I was praying for you guys. I hope that makes sense. Love you!

Because of trauma I didn't set boundaries. But God is restoring me on that point. A book on this subject what is helpfull is Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. They also wrote a book about boundarious during dating and in marriage. So great that you talk about this. Because it is so important to have healthy boundaries. It could have saved me from so much trouble if I had learned it in childhood. Keep up the good work and God bless you guys 🙏

I'm 20 almost 21 and still haven't really ever dated in my life.( which is not really a complain. I'm glad of this because it has saved me from commenting many mistakes/sins.) I thought I probably over exaggerated when I put rules similar too yours in my life and to guys and I even thought maybe I'm exaggerating but Christians like you make me continue to be like this knowing that this is correct and also knowing I can be sure that there is more who think we should guard ourselves in all ways in order to honor God and protect ourselves from what can lead us into sin.

Very good and Godly advice I will be sharing this with my three teens (17, 16 & 14). Lord willing, this advice coming from someone other than mom and dad will be more affective. Thank you. Boundaries my wife and I have established are very similar to what you have here.

Ive really focused my boundaries lately on my emotions & prayer!
For me (I am a single female) I don’t msg guys continuously over social media unless there’s a really clear and honest communication about it as that leads to getting caught up in the #feels
But I know when the boundaries line is getting pushed because I can feel it in my spirit. I used to ignore it and now I LOVE it. I’m like ‘Yes Holy Spirit! What are you saying to me this time!? 🥰’

I've always been brought up with good guidelines for how my brother's and sisters and I interacted with our friends of the opposite gender. But as an adult it's been interesting trying to navigate these principles in a little bit of a different application. Thanks again!
This is great! Not many people, myself included, even think about setting boundaries with the opposite sex in a friendship. But that is the biggest temptation because it can start during a friendship!

This has been an issue in my marriage. We have a very unique situation. My wife is on staff at our church and our son has autism and cannot go to church. Which means I have to stay home on Sundays to watch him but my wife has to attend church because thats her job. About 2 years ago my wife started staying after church to talk to people longer than usual. Instead of staying after an hour she was staying after for 2,3 and even one time 4 hours to talk to people. She had just made friends with three single brothers that are all around her age and I found out she was staying after to talk to them each Sunday. She says it was also with a group of people including her girl friends but I then found out that these three single brothers were texting her every night. Literally 7 days a week. I confronted her in a very loving way and told her there needed to be some boundaries. Thankfully she responded well. The boundaries we set were that she would come home from church every Sunday 1 hour after service ended. The other boundary was that she had to limit texting to twice a week with these siblings and that it had to be a group text not one on one. She agreed to these boundaries. But recently when I asked her if she was limiting the text messaging to twice a week like we had agreed, she responded by saying "I don't know because I don't count how many times I text people each week." I trust my wife but I still have some concerns. She is the children pastor at our church and recently these same three single brothers started volunteering with her in children ministry. They also give her gifts occasionally (CD's, toys for our son and even cash.). Seems a bit inappropriate to me.
Thanks so much for this!!! I'm new to the channel and wasn't looking for this or any of the videos (probably a dozen) that I've watched today. I was praying for a friend who's in a new relationship and I've had some feelings that something isn't right even though they haven't said anything to me yet. And I came to CZcams because of another video from another channel that I got a notification from and after one of yours was in the suggestions. I loved that one so much that I shared it with my two closest girlfriends and created a playlist with your videos and have shared each of them with my girls now. I've been in one relationship and let's just say it wasn't a good one which I didn't fully see at the time. When we broke up I was heartbroken but now I'm glad (even though there are parts that still hurt sometimes) that it ended. I pray that if God wants me to end up in a relationship and get married that I can have it go like yours with a man that's truly godly and not pretending that he will be a man that honours God not only when I'm looking but when no one is looking. That is what I want and I will not settle for less. These videos have been really helpful already to see things that I was right on and wrong on before and help me to pass along good info to my friends who need and want this for their lives as well.

I always hit the mark on communicating about a future together but would always leave out the boundaries part of getting into the future we would talk about. Many people will be blessed by it and will set boundaries with the opposite sex and set the bar higher..
If someone had told me "how" and "why to set" boundaries with the opposite sex...I might have kept myself pure, guarded my heart fiercely, and waited till my wedding day for my first kiss...
I was lonely.. as a child ..and often felt invisible..unfortunately.. blessed with looks, I had attention that was not pleasing in God's eyes..
What I learned most from this video, is how special it is to keep ourselves pure, guard our heart, not to tempt a brother by being to close or flirty, and to walk in holiness..have an accountability person who has your best interest at heart.

Thank you for sharing this I am not Good with boundaries and there is some one I like and when I liked someone before I crossed a boundarie meaning I got into there space and couldn't leave him alone..I struggle with shame because of that and now I am getting to know someone new and I thought that no boy would want to get to know me but here we are and I have been praying and crying to the lord about my feelings.
