Vando not being appreciated is so frustrating because he plays so hard compared to Rui at times. Rui effort can be so inconsistent
If Vando could just hit 3s with some minimal respectability, he would be the starting 3.
Yup I’m taking vando even tho he he’s limited with some parts of his game but you can’t teach playing hard you gotta want it & if your coach is creative you can scheme him open teams like the wolves play good with Rudy on the floor & it don’t effect much cause the scheme is good

Rui isn’t really a SF. He’s only really a PF. Vando can guard 1-4 which makes him super valuable but he’s limited offensively.

The roster is a conundrum. You just gotta hope Vincent and Vando can play a full season and 1 of Knecht/Lewis/reddish can be a consistent rotation player otherwise injuries will end us

Important to note that under new CBA teams are not permitted to aggregate multiple minimum salaries in a trade, e.g. can't trade Reddish and Hayes in the same deal.

I hate how down we are on Wood. He gives us the option to spread the floor while staying big. If anything we need to upgrade Hayes to a bigger more traditional center. And I like Vando WAY more than Rui as a starter. AD the only person playing defense in your starting lineup.
the lakers are actually deeper than last year. because maxwell lewis and castleton are both improving. and the drafting of a rotation guy in knecht. plus a healthy vando. i would keep wood too. he rebounds scores and had the third best defensive rating on the team last year. hes a guy that could start if theres

Vando is such a valuable player to this team and we can’t deny when Vando was health and starting, the team took off in 2023-23 season and they only got stagnant against Denver. I’d say start Rui in the regular season but start Vando in the playoffs
Rui needs to play defense and be a better rebounder
if castleton and knecht somehow make the rotation the lakers are better than last year.. both are an upgrade from prince. plus having vando healthy improves them from last year. the bench could look a lot better than last year
I couldn’t disagree more actually with starting Rui over Vando! We need his rebounding and perimeter defense! I love Rui but his Defense is suspect and he should be a 4 coming in for Lebron. If Rui starts we have 4 players weak defensively and AD is doing everything Defensively and he won’t be consistent on offense! I could go on all day!
So happy that NBA teams can now sign up to three 2-way contracts.
Vando fits WAYY better starting than rui. We dont need more scoring in the starting lineup, we need DEFENSE.. thats vando all day. We also need help on the boards which again us vando all day.. then it even carries over into the bench unit. Our bench is going to have gabe AND max in it.. u dont need anymore perimiter defense lol, you need SCORING primarily to help the bench. Which again would make rui the better fit for the bench over vando

All trades with DLO I’ve seen makes us worse. He is one of the reasons we made the playoffs last year.
Rui is better at offense but Vando is a lock down defender. Vando is more difficult to replace.
Does our current roster play better or worse with JJ as coach?

Definitely need to go for Kessler or a combo trade for Cam Johnson/DFS with Sharpe (Center from Brooklyn). I like Wendell Carter but apparently the Magic don’t want to trade him. I’d free up some space to Trent Jr and see about Dinwiddie on the minimum

If we get Vando back like he was playing early last season there is no reason he shouldn’t start, period! Rui should ideally be coming in for Lebron in my opinion. That creates competition between Hayes and Wood to be coming in at 5. I wish we had a big to play next to AD for some teams, Denver, Sacramento and other teams that bring a physical big. We were right there in so many games last season but just played incredibly inconsistent especially our 3 point shooting. Go Lakers!
Vando needs to stay ! unless we get someone equal in defense or better
Hey Jovan, jhs back issue and surgery. Do you have any idea of what type of procedure he had and what the problem was. Everything‘s been kind of hush-hush regarding that and I think he was one of the more promising Lakers with his maturity level discipline and level of attention to nutrition, which doesn’t appear players have.

im alone on this. but i think the lakers are the second best team in the west. because they still have lebron and AD. and guys like d lo austin rui vando wood christie castleton and knecht should all be good this year if healthy
I said it last weekend before FA started and will say it over & over..Jonas should have been the target not Klay..it was foolish thinking Klay would come for 12.9, especially since they hadn't moved salary the second dudes opted in. Dallas did.
But Dallas has very smart,smooth management. The Lakers are sloppy.
If they targeted/ signed him immediately on Sunday that's a dude to help AD vs Bigs like Sabonis,Zubac, Nurkic, the Joker. Bugs Whom Jonas plays very good Vs for some odd reason. 18 W.C Games when having him helps your team.

The current bench leaves a lot to be desired. An injury to Lebron, AD, Reaves, or DLo and were in trouble.

Rui & LeBron are redundant as starters.
Except AD, everyone on our roster is either good offensively or good defensively...Not both at once. We don't need more firepower we need two way players.
But the Kings are being praised for signing one way player demar, the Clips are being praised for holding the company line, the Mavs praised for adding more offense less defense, they signed a dude coming off a severe knee injury and got praised..Lakers are being attacked for doing nothing, a 55th pick, not signing dudes who weren't coming for MLE money...yet the Heat,Suns,Nuggets,Bucks, haven't done anything either..not a stone thrown their way..

Vando is decent but yall overrate him.
When he is on the floor it’s 4 vs 5 in favor of opposing teams.
Rui isnt great on defense but he’s significantly better on offense.

I don’t understand the infatuation with Hayes, he is not better than Wood. Wood’s biggest knock is his defense, but Hayes isn’t a good defender either & Wood is a better rim protector. Hayes has no offensive game. Wood can score & space the floor, a skillset that the Lakers don’t have from a big who also can fit alongside AD better than Hayes. & Hayes is an awful rebounder compared to Wood. Literally the only thing Hayes is better than Wood at is as a lob threat.
If they trade Wood over Hayes, it’ll be a mistake. I just don’t see how they think Hayes is the better player? Wood was injured last year & Ham was not using him right. He was much more effective the year before w/ Dallas because of how Kidd used him. W/ JJ’s system & the emphasis on 3 point shooting, how is he not the better fit than Hayes?
The only starters are bron and ad every player can match up better than the other depending on their match up that night but i dont see lebron playing the 3 or stopping guards even though it is obviously possible
Also if lebron stays at the 3 point line vando can play the two over either guard in the dunker spot if ad is rolling to the basket off a pick
Vando needs to roam and set off ball screens and find the defense helping to get lay ups
Reddish, JHS and Bronny are non players, they canNOT touch an NBA floor or the Lakers are toast.
How can anyone watch the lakers and think rui should start over vando and if they start rui over vando again this hear then the whole front office and coaching staff cant get anymore incompetent vando fits WAYYY better than rui beside bron and WAYYY better beside dlo and austin this should be an objective reality that u start vando over rui i dont see how its even debatable love u brotha but its vando over rui every single time

@Dollaupt Rob Pelinka job to upgrade this roster. He has failed to make 1 single trade! Time to start holding him accountable. Whenever u have Bron AD u must go in to maximize them. Otherwise just let them go and start a rebuild. Pelinka is trash

@Dollaupt They need salary dumps. Cause Pelinka gave mediocre role players options which is stupid. Wood, Reddish shouldn't got player options. Otherwise they would be gone with possibly 3 roster open. Which opens TMLE
