Have you ever compared tofu makers from different areas of your ward? I remember one somewhere in Setagaya Ward that produced great tasting tofu products from fresh to fried daily. It might be interesting. Love your work. Cheers.

Yes on temple day there are lots of stalls out, but it is really crowded then, still worth it :)

I love Sugamo!! It’s so rich in history and I feel like it’s a bit of a hidden gem for a lot of tourists. It feels like stepping back in time.
I borrowed my daughter’s ice cream maker just so I could try out some Japanese ice cream recipes that I found online. I can’t wait to try the black sesame recipe.

That Butter Dorayaki looks DIVINE! Reminds us of Hong Kong where they have the Pineapple Bun served with a slab of butter, kind of similar concept.
I came to Sugamo on my last visit to Japan - well, I AM a Grandma - "Old ladies clothes" 😃 - but I see now I missed sooooo much that I have to come again. Thank you Satoshi and Shinichi for showing us so many good things.

I have been able to buy uncooked azuki beans here in Israel but to be honest I haven't a clue what to do with them. Maybe, as you talk about them all the time, you could do a cooking video showing us how to cook the beans? Please!!! 🙏

I love sesame flavour, so as soon as you mentioned the shop that has everything sesame I’ve added this to my list of places to go in Tokyo!
Another thing we found interesting was monogrammed hashi with Asian horoscope tops. Good quality and good gifts for family members outside of Japan.
I love traditional Japanese sweets, this will be on my next list!

We stayed in Sugamo across from the famous temple (line ups to wash statue) 4 times for 2 weeks each time because we LOVED the neighbourhood so much. The new minipaku (sp?) laws have caused many good AirBnB to leave the marketplace otherwise we'd still be staying there! I never did buy the famous Red Underwear for Good Health that more than a few shops sell along that road.
Okay this Harajuku of Grandmas goes right to my visit list, because I want to go taste all that!! Thank to you and this mouthwatering video!

Absolutely loved this video guys. Everything looked delicious and I’m a huge fan of Mackerel so when we are there in August we’ll be sure to check out your mums recommendation. I've watched this video at least 5 times, and my mouth waters every time I watch it! Sugamo is also apparently on the Sakura Toden Railway route, so it's definately on my bucket list... food looks much better than the rainbow sweets at Harajuku.
