I appreciate that you can clearly see the real skin , texture, pores in this video. I would consider Michelle to have one of the most flawless skins so to see that as good as your skin can be you are still human and you'll obviously have a little bit of texture or discoloration is making me feel much more better! My point is it's more achievable than what i thought "perfect skin" is. I was always upset that I'll never ever achieve perfect skin because i was unlucky with genetics (even after a greatly built skincare regimen). But i can say that my skin has been getting better and better every year after changes in my diet and having a working consistent skincare. There is hope my sisters!

Honestly I’m a dude and I’ve always loved Michelle’s videos exactly because of her soothing voice, been a watcher from the rice bunny/xanga days just to have a soothing voice in the background. Learned a lot about makeup though lol
I didn't believe in SKII thinking it was just some overpriced overmarketed product but my mom started using it and it WORKS -- like Michelle said it's much easier to see the results when you get older
It's easier to see the result when you stop as well. My skin looks duller after I stop using it.
I swear by it. Especially the essence. Whenever I have breakout or anything I just put that on my cotton pad and leave it on like sheet mask and the pimple usually disappears the next day. I have been using it for 4 or 5 year already. It work amazingly. My skin look good and no fine line or anything appear yet even though I’m sick at skincare 😂

I didn’t even know that SK-II was released in the 80’s. The fact that it’s still an industry standard to this day speaks volumes. Specially in a time when the skincare market resembles fast fashion with new gimmicks constantly popping up and phasing out. They were wise to collab with you on this, the OG beauty guru x the OG essence. I will definitely give Pitera essence a try when I can afford it someday.
Just want to remind everyone that fermented skincare is not something for every skintype. I really wanted to love Skii, but it broke me out really, really bad, and it took me almost a year to recover from it :( though I know many friends who swear by this product :)
so my point is, do always rmb to patch test and observe carefully when you first start to incorporate a new skincare! :)

You really start seeing the “claims” of skincare in your 30s, which I’m in. I use this product. I swear by it. I notice a difference when I stop. It just makes your face brighter and less dull looking. I put it in a little spray bottle. Spray on my face and press in. I don’t want to waste ANY of it on my hands. This product is absolutely worth the price, and the dupes just don’t compare.
I would go back to using your hands, spraying it in the air it will evaporate and you'll lose more!
fr when my mom was using sk ii her skin looked so healthy. sometimes i would also use their cleansing balm and facial wash and they are soooo good. so soft and moisturizing. i can't afford it rn but when i do, i will definitely switch to sk ii

What you're doing to supposedly minimize wasting the product doesn't really make any sense. When you spray it you create aerosols, which means you're wasting a lot to the air/evaporation before it even touches your face. Plus you say you're still pressing it in afterwards, so it's still coming in contact with your hands, aka "wasting" it on your hands.
@@MelisaBalcii I have use it twice everyday for year. It’s a very good product. Doesn’t matter who else tell me to change to sth else, I’d still stick to it. And other great products from skII is there milk moisturiser. Can’t remember the name exactly but it’s a great product.
I also used SKII Pitera back when I was in my 20s at that time it didn't really do anything to my skin, I guess it was just like you I had really good skin back then. Now I'm close to 50 and I started using SKII again and I can tell you that it really does work , well at least for me. My skin feels firmer and brighter.
So I found out my skin doesn’t do well with fermented skincare. Bought sk-ii and broke out. I found Sulwhasoo and it’s soooo good on my skin. I’m in my 40 and I can see the difference only after few times of using it. It took me 30 years to find a skincare line that’s perfect for me.

Same here. I invested in SK II and my skin started to get so rough. It’s so weird. I kept trying and my skin condition didn’t get better. But once I switched to Sulwhasoo, my skin enhanced significantly just after a few times of using it! I guess everyone is really just different.

I LOVE this video! I DO use this product! I'm in my early 50's. It seemed like I was wasting a lot of product in my hands and using cotton so I pumped it into a spray travel bottle! I give it a couple of sprays and then tap into my skin. I LOVE this product! Thanks for this video! ❤️

Hi. I have been using this product for 4 years. I am 57 and I love the product. I put it in a travel spray in the fridge. I put a couple of sprays in my face from the fridge and I tap it in my face. It is wonderful.

I’m in my 30s and have always been curious about the skII essence because it was so popular a long time ago but back then I was not able to justify the price and wasn’t sure if it was overhyped product. In the last few years I have been using Fresh’s black tea kombucha essence as part of my skincare and do enjoy it. Seeing you document your journey of the skII has given me more confidence to try it as my next product once I finish the Fresh one. Thanks Michelle! : ) I’ve watched your videos for a while now and glad to see your video pop up from time to time because you keep it so real.

Just any FYI Sephora and SK II direct use Afterpay and Klarna. You can break down the payments into 4, and it makes it a little easier to afford. I don’t know everyone’s situation, but I thought I would mention this. You can pay a portion of the bill every 2 weeks

You used to inspire me so much to play with Make-up - loved every minute of your tutorials ! And I totally agree on your statement that skincare is a somewhat selflove and that we should take the time to do it and treat ourselves right.
Sadly never used the skII essence because I think it is a little bit too expensive for me. I know there is a lot of hype on it and it’s probably worth it. I also am quite lucky with my skin. It’s just a bit sensitive but otherwise I don’t have any problems with it. I usually use aloe Vera on my skin - the brand I use is called Santa verde and they grow their own aloe Vers plants and their skincare line is really good ( I mostly use their eyecreme, beauty rich elixir, hydro repair gel and sensitive toner on a daily basis) - I also tried tata Harper (just testers of their eyecreme and blemish spot remover ) and I really liked the results too. And I also fall in love recently with the Lilah b aglow face mist - it’s so easy to apply and leaves my skin super soft. I usually barely wear makeup nowadays (never wore face makeup (only eyemakeup and blush - nowadays I only use blush and highlighter( sometimes eyeliner) and I started setting my skin with the hourglass veil soft focus setting spray- I know it’s probably not skin care but I must say it leaves my skin super dewy and soft and my skin reacts pretty good to it throughout the day.
I barely use face masks because I never found a face mask where I didn’t get a rash from - idk mostly tried out some from korean brands - but didn’t really get along with them although their skincare also has pretty good reviews ! I recently also heard about this korean brand called dear klairs - what do you think about them ? Have you tried any of their products ?
I have been using Missha products now for over 10 years. I just recently did a few laser treatments for my face to get rid of sun spots. The woman treating me said my skin looked pretty good for my age. (40) I use the Time Revolution First Essence, Snail Cream, and nightly sheet masks. Now since I am 40, I know I need to be more aggressive using sun screen. I am terrible about not using it. 😩 Skin care is one of the things that I like to do for myself. I don't wear makeup, so I try to keep my skin looking as good as possible. 🙂 Missha products are affordable, cover different skin care needs, and have a light fragrance. I have used many of their products from the different lines and I have to say the Snail Cream is the best! 🐌

I started using this in my 30’s. It was the 30ml small bottle that was given for me to try. Since then, I just can’t live without SK-II essence.

SK-II has changed my skin at 60. I use the Facial Treatment Essence and Aura Essence, and the changes in texture and luminosity are highly noticeable.
I miss Michelle's beauty videos. You were the first and the OG "beauty youtuber" and honestly the only one I ever followed hardcore. I learned SO much from you. I still want to recreate your summer makeup look (I believe it was the "snow cone" look. You were always so positive and kind and even before high school and before I even ACTUALLY tried to use makeup I just remembered so much from you, about skincare, the DIYs and makeup looks. I’m a guy but I started investing in skin care years ago back when Michelle had Iqqu 😅I remember buying the rice face wash. Right now, I’m using the medicube zero foam cleanser, some products from Mizon & some from Aesop
I used the essence too. I've been using for a month and was less than impressed with it but one day I take a real good look on the mirror and I noticed my skin looks so poreless. I'm renewing it immediately even though it is damn expensive.

@@shreeya1113 I've stopped using it because it's hella expensive 😂 i have better and faster result when I'm using bakuchiol oil. It's good for my wallet and it's even more efficient than retinol imo.
It worked. It really worked, at least for me. My skin doesn't look the same (in a worse way) when I stopped using SK-II essence.
SK-II really works. My aunt uses it. She got it as a wedding gift but she liked it so much she continued to buy it. She has been using it for 12 years and her skin is dewy & clear. No spots & glowing. It made me wanna use it too😂 but I couldn't afford it now so, I'll probably use it when I'm 25.

Great video! I haven't followed a proper skincare routine in ages, I have all the products & most of them unopened. This video made me want to start taking care of my skin & the motivation to finally use the new skincare products I have. I've use a trial size of SKII, it was apart of the Soko to Tokyo Sephora gift set a few years ago 2017. It was one of the reasons I bought the set for $40 a great price!

I have only been using SK II pitera essence and sunscreen for 10 years and it's not until last year that I need to add its rna power essence to my night routine. My skin has zero dark spot and has never been dry even now even though I've never gotten any facial! It's also the only brand I can use without breaking out. Honest review here because I really appreciate their products.

I too used SK-II but for some inexplicable reason stopped, so this video is very timely.
i first used SKii in my 20s too i liked it but didnt appreciate it enough, i was younger with a good skin to begin with.... then over the years, i got caught up with all the new brands, different international skincare, western, Korean etc. my skin barrier got damaged from experimenting too much. now that i hit 40, i went back to SKii and gosh i understand now how good it is.

Hi. I am 57 year old. I have been using the product for around 4 years and I love it. Before I used to put the drops in my hand and tap it to my skin but then I thought what if I put it in a travel spray as I travel a lot and then I thought what about if I put it in the fridge and bingo. It is wonderful. My skin looks fresher. At my age I am bless i do not have wrinkles maybe because is in my genes and because I have been using a good product that really works. It is very expensive but it last a lot by using the spray. It is really worth it.

I started using Pitera at 32 following recommendation from a friend. I was reluctant to buy because it was the most expensive skincare I've ever spent on. But only after 3 uses, I could notice my skin was firm, bright and glowy.
I've also used the anti-aging serum (red bottle) from SK-II but the result was not that noticeable. So I'd say Pitera is the best product for me and I'll continue to use it. Also I only use about 2-3 drops each time and it feels enough. Even though the essence is liquid, each drop feels like gliding across a larger area. So with that, it's actually not too expensive, a bottle lasts quite a long time for me.
Glad it worked for you. I had the whole line and it did nothing for me. Used the whole thing cause it's not cheap, but I didn't see any change. I was so disappointed.
Btw I was 37 when I tried this.
I was given a set of Shiseido at 19. I’m still using Shiseido and I’m 58. My skin is the best thing about me. Skincare, drinking water and don’t forget your décolleté. You will be happy later in life!!!

I'd love to see a comparison with some Kikumasamune products since they're also made with galactomyces ferment filtrate (which is what pitera is) and produced by a sake brewery! the high moist toner (pink bottle) is one of their most popular items and my HG moisturizer, and I'm definitely out of sk-ii's price range to try it myself (plus I think I'm too young to see sk-ii results since I'm mid-20s haha)
I bought this during a spurge moment. Tbh at first I couldn’t tell a difference (in my mid 20s btw) like Michelle. But then I stopped for like a couple of weeks then noticed something wasn’t the same. Then I started it again and I noticed my skin just looked healthy lol idk how to describe it but healthy, smooth, and brighten. I’ve tried the other dupes before and haven’t found anything like it to call it a dupe. At the same time it’s too expensive to keep re-purchasing lol def buy if you have the monays

I also had the same thoughts about sk-II in my 20’s! It didn’t really make a difference and i understand that it was probably bc my skin was virtually “perfect”. Fast forward to my early 30’s - my skin texture isn’t the same and i keep getting dry patches. I reached for my sk-II bottle on hand and am finally noticing a difference. Looking good so far. I’m a younger looking 56 bc of my years of skin care but we can’t get away from skin changing. I know that a lot of people doubt Pitera essence...but years ago, my skin's moisture barrier was totally damaged from Proactiv use. EVERY SINGLE skincare product lit me on fire!! Like, even Cerave, Cetaphil, Clinique unscented, (all those products known for being gentle) gave me a terrible, burning reaction. Then on a whim, I tried SK-II. It nourished my skin and never irritated it. It got me back to a level where I could actually use gentle skincare again! It took about 2 years of SK-II use, but I'm SO GRATEFUL that it helped so much!!!
I was hoping to find out what moisturizer you use. I just recently started using SKII. I bought one bottle which I dropped and shattered after 1 week. So I ordered another. I was determined to see what all the “holy Grails” were about. My pigmentation is lighter. I only have 2 or 3 small places even though I’m 73. I’ve been diligent about no scent, limited ingredients which are proven to work. So far I like it. I’m not raving about it but I do like it. Pay no attention to their “their hands were soft from working with fermented products”. Read Mary Kay’s little story about the leather workers 🙄. It’s pure marketing. There has only been one brand of fermented essences that broke me out. All others are fine. But, that’s just my skin. Do what’s right for yours.

When I was younger, I always thought SK-II was for aunties. Now I'm that aunty...
i havent tried SKII but im a huge fan of essences. when i was in my 20's my skin was always dried, regardless of the products i used , and after two or three hours it looked like i applied nothing on my skin. After i had my son two years ago (and on my 30's) i began to worry about my appearance and searched frantically online, and in videos by harpers bazaar they consulted experts (aka dermatologists) and one of them recommended the essences. Boy, that water changed my (skincare) world! now over 8 hours go by and still my skin remains hydrated! the essence made a huge difference on my routine, but i like to switch essences, unfortunately this brand is not in my country (MEXICO) but if i have a chance i'd like to try it for sure! :)

Thanks for the clarification! I’ve always wanted to try sk-II as I’ve always watching their commercials since I was a kid. I might slowly get into it since my skin doesn’t react well with product change. Last time I did, oh God I had acne flare that I’ve never experienced before.

I've been into skin care for a really long time and while my skin was very good in my early 20s, I still got cystic pimples regularly that were crazy painful. I'm 27 now and my skin is in the best shape it has ever been in I believe. I use retinol and bha once a week respectively and I don't break out anymore. What I'm trying to figure out right now, it how to retain moisture on my face. I've been using aloe vera gel and snail mucin for maybe 3-4 weeks now and it's nice, but not as moist as I'd want my skin to be. I'm definitely curious about this essence and might give it a try in the future! Maybe wait until I'm 30 first x)

I started using the SKII FTE this around 7 years ago. Still using it daily. When I stop using it due to running out of it, I really see a difference. I will never be without it it’s my holy grail along with the SKII FT Lotion. My skin has been so clear after 2 months of using them and up till this day 7 years later my skin is still so clear I barely get breakouts. Loveeee it

Been watching your vid since highschool. Have been refering some of your vid from time to time for make-up and skincare advice. I used to have acne prone and oily skin. Now in my mid 20s, I finally stick to a skincare routine that works for me. I change often change my cleanser and moisturiser. But I have been sticking on Hada Labo Lifting+Firming Lotion(the red bottle) for 8 years now. Hatomugi Skin Conditioner also have been my favourite this past 3 years.
I can't afford SK II but I'm using an alternative which is Korean brand Scinic First Treatment Essence. And wow I'm impressed with the result! My skin became smooth and glowy. I have a very sensitive skin.

After several months of using pitera (and shiseidos ultimune and eudermine) I'm in love.
I notice when I run out between pitera bottles. Other people have told me I look younger!? I thought you had to spend thousands to get these kind of results.
I've been using Fenty's sleep mask for about 3 months- it's the only new part of my routine. I'm 45 next week and my fine lines have pretty much disappeared in 3 months!
