  • Using tooth picks to seperate the reeds makes it easier to start a hunt in the morning and prolongs the life of the call.

A good business man wouldn’t give out tips to prolong call life. Thanks for being an honest one!

Great tip! I've always stored em in the fridge but never kept the reeds separated.

I'd much rather "pick" my calls, then what I used to do. While driving to my morning spot, I would take out the calls I was planning on using and one at a time, blow them as loud as I can, to loosen the reeds. It did work, however, my calls were blown out in no time, not to mention making my hunting partner deaf. lol!

+Dustin Faile I'd be careful doing it that way buddy. Keeping those calls saturated will shorten their life span.

I use the ends of plastic forks to separate reeds.

What about the other reeds and seperating em.

Scott, do you only have to separate the top reed on a multi reed call? I have battled stuck calls. I appreciate this tip. Thanks.

Can you use any other material other than latex for your reeds? I'm allergic to latex, so I won't be able to use diaphragms unless another material can be used.

What about triple reeds? 2 toothpics?

    • @HuntQuestwithScottEllis

I only pick the top reed. But you can pick all of them if you want too, but I just let the second and third reed stick.

I have trouble on the bottom and the middle reeds sticking. Do you think it wouldn’t hurt it, if I pick them as well? Thanks Scott love your signature call the one you’re using in this video it’s brought me a lot of success!!!

@@lucashuff1153 it will run fine when the bottom two stick. Actually will clean up the front end a bit.
