    As a person who almost has zero observation abilities, I must say Jack was doing way better than me. I didn't notice a single damn thing throughout his playthrough except the intruder and the abyss. In real life when somebody is trying to show me something by pointing at it I always look around and ask "WHERE?" for like ten times and still don't notice a goddamn thing, it's really embarrassing. I don't understand why people are so good at observation but good for them.

    • @micahfoley9572
      @micahfoley9572 Před 2 lety +44

      luckily, as it turns out, observation is a learned skill rather than an inherited instinct. if it genuinely bothers you, you can definitely 100% train yourself to be way better at it. like, think about how the secret service gets trained to spot tiny things like expressions and stuff in those huge crowds of people. i doubt many people can do that without training. and i'd bet money there are tutorials on you tube. cuz there are tutorials for everything on youtube.
      i'm kinda a space cadet myself, and for me personally, i found that agatha christie novels and dark souls (of all things) both made me a lot more observant just in day to day life. they just incidentally made me shift my focus a notch smaller, cuz they're way more fun that way. and it's like...there's so much big stuff that we see whether we focus on it or not, and it's easy to let your conscious mind linger on those big things, and you end up missing smaller things if you have your focus on default wide mode. but you don't miss any of those big things if you choose to narrow your focus and look at the details. like if you're at the ocean and looking down at your feet, seeing grains of sand doesn't mean you're not noticing that there's a beach there.
      ok i dunno if that made sense lol anyway, good luck :)

    Hey Jack, here's some tips if you decide to play this again!
    1. DO NOT look at intruders for too long. They can give you a game over. Switch to another camera (preferably the one you were just on) and then file the report.
    2. Sometimes you need to stay on the camera for a little bit to catch an anomaly (like the light anomaly you saw in the hallway, or the shaking propane tank in the kitchen.)
    3. Yes, you do need to look everywhere. It just depends on the camera you're on. For instance, the bedroom camera doesn't really have any anomalies for the blinds as far as I've seen. The TV in the living room disappeared quite a few times though!
    4. Minor details! Even the smallest things can mess you up. Pay attention to orientation and how many of an object there are; sometimes there's just ONE more item and you miss it.
    5. See comment section (about 40 replies down) for this one, I've edited it out due to others pointing out it's spoilery.
    6. Same as 5.
    7. If you can't figure out what an anomaly is based on the categories you've been given, try "other." It covers everything not listed, like the fan that stopped spinning and the floor changing.
    8. Don't play for too long, take breaks every now and then to help calm yourself down and give your eyes and brain some rest! Just like doing anything else for too long, this can take a toll on you.
    9. I forgot about this one, thanks MonkeyBonesGeorge for this in the replies! "Additional: You have to increase the brightness to see the rooms enough to catch things. Brightness slider is in the pause menu." About 5 replies down. (Personally I play on max brightness but you do whatever's comfortable!)

    General rule of thumb for this game: the warning appears when there's three active anomalies you haven't spotted. If one more spawns during that point, you lose, meaning 4 is the limit.
    Also a tip: if there's a camera malfunction(aka room missing), *anomalies can still spawn in the room you cannot see.* It's fully possible that there are two anomalies in a room that's missing, and with the malfunction that would be three, giving you a warning and you'd have no chance of finding anything unless you report that cam malfunction!
    And, yes, this game is a real bitch when it comes to anomalies. Some are very obvious like intruders, while others are for example one tiny extra book in some corner or a piece of paper missing from a bulletin board at the very end of a hallway, or a flower on a table verrry gently shaking.

    Another tip for you Jack: it's a good idea, if you're lost on what anomalies are active, to just file reports of each room with the most common and easily missable anomalies like "object missing", "object movement", "extra object" and "other". It does run the risk of not being able to file a report until it completes, so if you find an anomaly while it's "in progress" you'll have to wait, but it's a good way to be proactive when you're not sure what to do!

    One of the most subtle anomalies is when the camera disappears. That and the fan can switch directions. So I highly recommend anybody who's never played this game before take note of how many cameras you were supposed to have and then if you ever have trouble spotting anomaly check and see if one of your cameras are missing.
    You can expect like 25 to 30 anomalies in a typical game.

      @@hukihuki4135 There are zero repercussions for getting anomalies wrong! I’ve found it best to kind of constantly have a report running because any small things you miss stack. If you wait for the warning that there’s multiple anomalies, you probably won’t have enough time to random guess them away since the report takes a few seconds per guess.
      The biggest downside to this is having to wait for a guess report to clear before you can report something you actually noticed. If you play, you’ll learn which anomalies are easier for you to miss. I miss moving object most so that’s what I guess while looking for new stuff.
      Also! If you see an intruder and you’re waiting for the report to clear, go to a different room. Looking at an intruder for too long can cause them to attack the camera and you’ll lose the game. Have fun trying different versions of the game and different rooms! And try to up the brightness while you’re in a room because I 100% had my brightness too low and couldn’t see half the room. Have fun it’s a great time :)

    As an AI I can roughly estimate the amount of anomalies in this video.
    According to experience, it seems that the game ends when around 4 Anomalies are detected in the area.
    With this logic, you can take the amount of anomalies solved, Fifteen and eight, and you can add 4 to each. (12 and 19)
    Twelve plus nineteen equals thirty one. (31 in Total)
    Out of thirty one anomalies, Jack solved twenty three. (23 Anomalies Found)
    Of course, we can't forget the Anomalies in the Intro.
    Distortion in: "Background"
    Object Disappearance in: "Desk"
    Intruder in: "Desk"
    With this info we can establish that there were a total of thirty four anomalies in this video. (34 in True Total)
    And I solved three of them. (26 Truly Solved)

  • @menthols4625
    @menthols4625 Před 2 lety +2062

    Sean, your way of approaching this game is making it much more difficult for you because you're too worried about being wrong, and you don't just test things. There's no punishment for being wrong with a guess and since you have infinite guesses, it doesn't hurt to just select things like object movement and objected disappearance in random rooms while you're looking for anomalies, especially because they are usually the hardest to detect. As well as if you think something is different, you certainly should at least check just in case.
    You were actually very good at noticing the more difficult anomalies and I think if you guessed more often you would definitely win. Thanks for the video.

      Well, there is sort of a penalty in that you can't submit another report until the current one is finished pending. So if you file a random report and then spot a real anomaly in the next room, you have to wait until the first report goes through. This can be a real killer when you've got three active already, and every moment could spawn the anomaly that puts you over the edge.
      And of course, heaven forbid you file an anomaly and then flip into a room with one of the intruders who traps you there. Time is REALLY of the essence there, to the point where there are certain rooms in the other games that I just straight-up don't flip to when there's a pending report, whether it's a blind guess or not.

    • @raionshishi8290
      @raionshishi8290 Před 2 lety +48

      Blind reporting isn't good either overall since you never know what was the anomaly, so if you ever run into it again you wouldn't even notice it, if something was missing or moved or added, you need to pay attention because if you just blindly report, next time you won't even report it because you never knew about it in the first place from last time.

    Protip for ya Jack: Once you receive the warning of multiple anomalies you have 3 anomalies that aren't fixed and if you get to 4 you fail. once you receive the alert you have 1 minute to start finding and reporting/clearing the anomalies to get back to somewhere safe. Another thing to keep in mind is that 1 anomaly usually shows up every 12 to 15 minutes using the in-game time.
    The easiest changes to miss are object disappearance, moved objects, and extra objects. If you don't know just start guessing these 3 on rooms that feel "off." There's no penalty for being wrong so you have nothing to lose.
    Have fun!

    Sean, when you get the warning for multiple anomalies present, it means that there are at least three anomalies you are missing. Four active anomalies are what kills you I believe. I might be wrong but that's what I've learned watching/playing the game myself. Also yes, the subtly of the game will ruin you. You have to look at everything in the rooms. Also, nothing ever happens (that I've noticed) in the first 20 seconds so using that time to memorize the rooms as best you can helps a lot. Also beware of staring at intruders for too long as well as letting a room distort too much. Some anomalies can kill you. Hope this helps!
