I was at Vic's the day before he showed up. I asked the waitress if he'd ever been there before , and she said no. I was like,, "he'll show up here eventually, probably sooner than later." I wish I could have this much clairvoyance when it comes to picking lottery numbers. 😕
It honestly made my day seeing the chef clap and get a big smile after getting a solid score. Dude has been doing it for 25 years and he’s getting recognition for it today.
One review rated over 8.2, everyone knows that lady who saved the review will be(better be) getting a nice bonus/pay raise soon. Her saving that review probably just increased Vic's summer revenue exponentially- literal game changer.
Yea that lady was a hero for the business. This was going mid 7s with Dave saying maybe 7.9 hot if she didn't get him a fresh one.

I pretty much commented the same thing. He's been almost everywhere, says this is his favorite "as good as you'll find" and then gives it a low 8 as if it's the greatest thing ever. The way he said 8.3 was like people should be blown away by it.
@@bentframerail6718 He wasn't being nice he just has no idea how to score stuff. He tries to act like he's a really tough critic that can't go too high but then he's too nice when the pizza isn't that great so then all his scores end up really close together.
Watch the review for The Galley Pizza & Eatery posted a few days ago. Dave says right in the video, "I don't give bar pies nines. Bar pie doesn't get a nine. A great bar pie is a low eight."
Your favorite movie genre may be Action. That doesn't mean that The Terminator, which is among the best action movies ever made, deserves an objectively higher review than Citizen Kane, which may not be your cup of tea. When a reviewer can put aside his personal preferences in favor of some sort of uniform standard, it's a good thing. The greatest bar pie on earth simply doesn't match the quality and craftsmanship of something like Lucali and Dave knows that.

My dad took us to Vic’s AND Pete and Elda’s for decades. I miss it! Vic’s sauce is FANTASTIC! And man is the collection of Jersey Shore towns the best places to grow up in!

Getting acclimated to the harsher system...I figured the wait for a fresh pie was going to get it to at least an 8.5.
for a bar pie in a shore joint I'd say 8.3 is a 8.9+ for a Non-subgenre pie! in NJ there's 3 types of pizza, Legit spots like this, hype and Poop. Personally If I see fresh basil don't get angry, just disappointed
definitely thought it was going to be 8.5 too.
Is Costa’s in Ortley Beach still around?
He tries to act like a tough critic that can't give out too high of scores. But then with the lesser spots he gets too nice and gives them the generous scores. All his scores just end up being too close together . This should've been at least a high 8 if not into a 9. If this is "as good as any you'll find" then it should be a 9. He says 8.3 like people should be blown away that he said that.
@@jimduggan8962 I do not disagree especially with it not being thin . aka deninos is not that thin but THIN and smaller pie. but to some people a pie, Summer time NJ shore crowds. it's also not "a slice" to go. Also places that are well known are like fighters, draw or even score goes to the champ b/c they are still on top And how many total 9's? i didnt see many..... I do not disagree just saying .2 .... prob 8.9 without Spider ruining his appetite :-p

been going to Vic's all my life, my favorite pizza place to this day, and first place i ever ate a whole pie to myself. props to Dave for recognizing truly great Jersey pizza places.
I just love these videos, guy is worth multi millions, yet stands and does reviews in the middle of parking lots. It’s awesome !
I don't know why but watching Davey eat pizza is very calming. Whenever I see a new vid I click it despite it being the exact same thing as before and as a Brit I'm unlikely to be able to eat those Pizza's. I'll keep clicking.

The BEST pizza in all of New Jersey. I’ve been eating Vic’s since I was like 5, grew up right down the street, worked there as a teenager, so did my sister, and my brother + cousin worked in the pie room for years as well. The sauce, the thin crust, the cheese…legitimately the best pie you will ever eat. People drive from miles and miles away for Vic’s and wait for 2+ hours in the summer and it’s totally worth it
I grew up in that area. Vic's has the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. The place is homey and the staff very friendly.

lmao he always sounds like a little kid to me when I hear it. It sounds ridiculous. Makes me think of Home Alone "cheese pizza" they probably end up giving him extra cheese sometimes because of that. I've seen people comment on some reviews that his pie looked like it had more cheese than theirs.

Because 9.1 is like one of the best pizzas in the world.

He rates different types of pies different levels. A traditional pie can get a 9, while a bar pie would be lucky to ever get a 8.5

I used to go here as a kid. Back when there was smoking allowed inside, the smell of the pizza oven and stale cigarettes just was intoxicating. Also try the pasta fagiole
