  • Frozen Instant Pot Venison Roast that is Fast and tender!! Cut down cooking time from the tradional crock pot variation. This delicious deer meat recipe is versatile whether you are wanting your venison pulled, sliced or mixed into a yummy stew. Eat with bread and butter or some homemade buns or biscuits and you've got a hearty, rustic meal your family should devour!
    FROZEN VENISON ROAST IN THE INSTANT POT
    Chop 1 onion
    Cube 4 or 5 potatoes (1 1/2") - I used Russet
    Slice celery into 2" long pieces (1 1/2 cups)
    Slice 4 large carrots into 2" long pieces
    Whisk together:
    1 can mushroom soup
    1 heaping Tbs minced garlic
    1 or 2 cans of beef broth (only 1 if less sauce is desired or if you are not adding veggies to the pot)
    1 pkg onion soup mix
    2 Tbs worchestershire sauce
    Salt and pepper as desired (1/2-1 tsp)
    Layer into instant pot:
    Onions
    Frozen 3-4 lb venison roast
    Potatoes
    Carrots
    Celery
    Pour sauce into the pot over the ingredients.
    Secure the lid on the pot.
    Ensure the steam vent on the Instant Pot the lid is closed.
    Set Instant Pot to pressure cook for 50 minutes.
    *It will take anywhere from 15-40 minutes for it to completely seal and begin cooking. *
    Once it is done cooking let it release pressure naturally for 10 minutes, then assist by lifting or pressing the pressure valve with a save utensil in order to release the remaining pressure.
    Open the lid and remove meat and vegetables.
    Let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes so it remains moist when cutting or shedding.
    Press the Saute button to bring the liquid in the pot to a boil.
    Make a slurry of 2 Tbs of cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water and begin to slowly whisk it into your boiling liquid until it has thickened to your liking.
    Add meat back to liquid if desired or plate and serve!

      @@theorangehuntress4108 Have you thought about doing any chicken instant pot recipes? I have also taken some of the different beef recipes I have found on youtube and substituted Venison with it. maybe some of those ideas? I feel like that would be extremely helpful to the community.

    I'm cooking Venison in a couple days... made up a dry rub to add to meat after I remove the fat and synue. Will later add some beef broth and will cook for about two hours... I actually cooked six thick steaks and shredded later and add low cal sauce and .... Will weigh out into meat sizes...... I serve this over cauliflower rice.... Low cal meal and my wife, who hate venison for 30 years loves it.... Tonight we had burgers I grilled on my weber.... Tomorrow night we having steak....

    My farberware only sets to "meat" but that comes out to the exact time you made. About 30 minutes after it seals

    Could you use frozen shoulder/neck roast in this recipe?

    • @theorangehuntress4108
      @theorangehuntress4108  Před 2 lety

      Probably, you just may need less time, especially for the shoulder since it isn't as thick and bulky as a roast.
      The neck may be more similar in time I would imagine.

    Hi!! I was given a deer roast from a friend and I don't even know what kind of roast it is. I don't know ANYTHING about deer meat lol. So will this work for my frozen deer meat? Is there only one kind of venison roast?

      Welcome to this new adventure!
      There are different roast types but the Instant Pot is amazing at keeping things pretty tender. However, if you want to use a bit less time because it is a bit smaller, go for it!
      Another great recipe is to cut up your roast into cubes for kebobs. That is our summer go to. I have a video and recipe for that as well with the picture "it's grillin time"

    If I put two roasts in, how much should I adjust the time? Will i need to at all?

      @theorangehuntress4108  Před rokem

      That's a good question... I've never done that.
      But I'm sure it would increase the time, especially if they are touching. If there is a bit of space it may be ok, but on the safe side, I'd say add more time.

    • @theorangehuntress4108
      @theorangehuntress4108  Před rokem

      Maybe add an extra 15, then if it needs more it shouldn't take long to repressurize to cook it longer. I hope it works for you!
