The military town she spoke of first being arrested in is called Fort Ord, & it's about 20 minutes from Salinas. The military is no longer there, so it's a bunch of abandoned buildings now. Great interview, btw & shout out to her for making something amazing with her life!

That area you are referring to King, is way more south than here in Salinas & Fort Ord area. It does sound similar, though, I know.
