We moved to the ONEONTA area bout year and half ago. We love it! We lived in the Atlanta area for22 years. We are both from Alabama, but being away 40 or so years, we love our little farm, and the town! Wish we would have moved here 10 years ago!
In speaking with the Latino population, the tomato farmers have historically been big employers of Latinos in Blount County. We lived in Rosa which is part of Oneonta and we loved it. had to move back to Birmingham for cancer treatment but are going to move back as soon as possible.
I am from here and live here still. La Morenita has the BEST tacos and tamales. Oneonta is a great place to live. That Blockbuster has been closed for YEARS. El Valle has been there for at least 10 years. The just kept the Blockbuster sign. We all think it’s hilarious too. I think the huge houses you’re thinking of would be one of the golf courses. Limestone is going out of town past Allgood and Heritage is right before Walmart across the street.
Just thought of looking up where I live and was not expecting to actually see something Also seeing the gas stations having 2:50 a gallon It made me nostalgic Also crime really isn't all that bad here
I moved down here to Blountsville from Tecumseh Michigan back in 2007 when Odumma ruined the economy ! I drive a semi OTR for a company out of Chicago !We live in Blountsville and my wife works at Nail Star in Oneonta !!! She’s the BEST Nail Tech in the Area !!! Be careful with rolling through STOP 🛑 signs !!! Nice video !👍
I think saying U.S citizens are too good for these jobs is untrue. In free markets, corporations raise wages to attract workers, they don't have to do that since illegal workers who earn 10 times the salary they do in Mexico would gladly do it. I'm sure Americans would love to do ANY job that pays them 10 times! The living wage. Illegal immigration just keeps companies from raising wages to attract American workers. American wages have been stagnant and not keeping up with inflation.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I think you struggle to empathize with working class Americans bc you & Katie inherited a substantial amount of money and paid your house cash. Most Americans don't have that luxury. Mexico's minimum wage is $150/ month, those guys come over here and earn that in one day! America is their golden goose. I would love to (hypothetically) cross the border into Canada and earn $1000/day and buy our house cash in the U.S after working one year. Everybody has a price Jose. Capitalist societies based on free markets, not corporations lobbying for cheap labor, even the tech sector lobbies for H-1B visas to undercut American professionals. The affects of immigration can be discussed without it turning to hate/emotional arguments. Very useful to get an idea about the place (watched most of it in silent mode, though). Somewhat dull and depressing, in terms of nature. Alabama's winder?
Lived there my whole life. Let me say, it isn’t “ charming” if you’re from there First off, the chicken factory isn’t chasing chickens it’s a Tyson’s chicken. It’s in blountsville. Nobody who lives there drives to Montgomery to work. The crime there is disgusting now. It was a safe place to live, it isn’t anymore Cops there and at least 75% are so corrupt it’s disgusting!
You really didn’t even hit the good parts of Oneonta… you missed out on Limestone Springs, Heritage Golf you drove right pass it headed to Walmart… Inland Lake, Palisades Park, so much was missed
I live in Oneonta Alabama and have all my life and it really is not all that. It is trying to grow but the income here is not high at all and I work at the hospital. The internet is the worst in the country.
thats a dam lie..Latinos work in every weld shop in Blount County and we have lots of farm land where they work like hell not including construction and Latino owned businesses so until you explore more don't make dumb statements
Bud, if you really think Farming or Welding are not good jobs, it simply means you are just inexperienced, young, and uneducated. I know farmers and welders that make more money that doctors and lawyers. You truly need to do your research before you make videos of people's hometowns.
If you were going to do a 1 hr video on Oneonta, you should have asked someone local and involved to help. I'm not bagging on your effort here, I'm glad you're here, but there are so many mistakes and errors in this and I'm only 10 min in. There are many of us that would love to help you make a better video. But good luck!

My ancestors came from Oneonta in the mid 1800s to Texas. They were the Gunter family.
I'd suggest checking out palisade park and the covered bridges like Swann bridge. But gonna have to walk to see all it offers.

I’m a third-generation Michigander but my grandpa was from Oneonta.
I live around the Oneonta Alabama area. The people here are nice but the police and the court system is corrupt.
