China's Lin Dan wins the gold medal in the men's badminton singles final against Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei.
The sport debuted at the Olympics in 1972 with this Summer's final taking place in front of a capacity crowd at Wembley Arena.
It was not until the 1992 Games in Barcelona that badminton was officially included on the Olympic programme, with men's and women's singles and doubles events. The mixed doubles event made its debut in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Since then, the number of events has remained unchanged.

    • @GIN.356.A

Skywalker CFC Table scraps...nobody gives a shit about commonwealth games because the level of competition is low, superseries is just for the prize money. The only "Majors" in badminton is OG, WC, Asian Games, Thomas Cup and Sudirman Cup. Lee Chong Wei AKA the Uncrowned King has won none of the above, Lin Dan on the other hand has won every single one at least twice. Taufik has won an Olympic Gold and was a world champion, and Asian games gold, led his team to Thomas Cup gold...Again, Lee Chong Wei is a great player, and maintains a high level of play for almost a decade, but his best have never been as good as The other two. Lin Dan is without a doubt the greatest ever by far, but Taufik can compete at 100 when it matters and win big titles while being only at 80 or less the oher times, while Lee chong wei is always at 95, extremely consistent, but just doesnt have the Plus alpha to go the extra mile, therefore zero major title, an Uncrowned King if you will.

+Quang Pham That would be totally awesome. I think the draw would have to play out that LD plays Viktor Axelson in the semi and LCW plays Chen Long in the semi. If it's reversed I'm not sure LD can take Chen Long.

Jimmy jim Its 1-2 not 1-3. And Viktor doesnt have any experience in the Olympics so we dont know how we he will do just like LD in olympics 2004 or Chen Long in WC 2011. But LD still have to be in good form or he wont even get to the semi-final.

Lindan’s mentally is what makes him the greatest of all time.
