"Yes, I beat Celeste!"
"Oh, did you do all the C-sides?"
"C-sides?"
"Yeah, the ones that come after the B-sides?"
"...B-sides...?"
“Alright. I’ve beaten the C-sides AND Chapter 9, AND I got a few golden strawberries, including the one from doing 1A dashless, AND this game has helped me figure out my gender IRL. Am I done yet?”
“Have you tried the mod that adds D-sides?”
“Alright I beat the D sides it was a long and hard 200 hour journey but it’s finally complete. Thank god’s there’s nothing else”
“Hey do you wanna hear about the hardlist”
“NOPE!”
bro im stuck on 2D plz tell me its the difficulty cap @@nebulae5236
@@nebulae5236Wanna hear about the modded goldens and the existence of Grandmaster levels?
@@Smoldragoncat after 1700 hours of Celeste all I can say is, they’re all nothing short of masterpieces (play kazt gm maps they’re all amazing)
The sweetest little indie game that crushes your spirit while lifting it up at the same time. I've never seen a game so friendly while still being so challenging.
Rayman for ps1 was friendly looking... and challenging. Downright unfair is more accurate though to be fair.
And as of now they, literally, have only ONE Game Awards Game of the Year nominee to give an honest trailer to: INSIDE. Hope to see that at some point.
then like 2/3rds way through it, after amounting over 1,000 deaths (at least) it tells you not to feel bad about how many times you died, because that means how many times you have tried! OMG!!
Warning, side effects of playing Celeste may include:
Acute frustration
Loss of thumb skin
Questioning your gender
Crying at the difficulty of facing internal demons
Crying in long-awaited triumph
Remember to drink water after all that crying
Loss of thumb skin is too real 💀
I suffered all of those at once playing this game. My thumb's skin has been torn off and my gender is now female. 10/10 would recommend!!!!
I have my skin on my fingers still but I am a woman now so
3 and 4 are so apt
A Celeste- a game that punishes your hands while offering mental health therapy. Good times :)
As I’ve always said - The maingame of Celeste cures your depression, the optional content gets you depressed again so you need to replay the game.
Having a game's villain called Yglohec (Ee-glo-eck) which turns out to be an acronym for Your-General-Lack-of-Hand-Eye-Coordination would make for a great reveal at the finale.
Well, for a tough as nails platformer/action game. For most RPGs, it would feel irrelevant.
100% accurate review. I have never played a game that managed to be both an absolute pain in the ass and an absolute delight at the same time until I played Celeste.
This is honestly the first time one of these has made me feel grateful for it. I hope this really spurs people to go out and give it a try. It's SO good, and as hard as it is, the whole thing of playing one screen at a time makes it feel manageable. TRY THIS GAME, folks. It's a treasure.
And even if it's still too hard, the game features "Accessibility" options ranging from merely slowing down the gameplay (to give you more reaction time) to outright invulnerability, and it won't even judge you if you decide to use it.
Wait. WAIT. The game design itself is also a metaphor?! About taking things in small steps and not giving up even if you fail a few times (or a lot)? Maybe not, but this comment made me think of that
@@orsolyafekete7485 Also a metaphor for self-acceptance!
As someone with 500 hours, I couldn’t agree more
@@orsolyafekete7485 I love this interpretation!!
When you can launch alongside a Zelda game and come out with 10/10 reviews, you've done something more than just "right"
Climbing a mountain in real life? Can you imagine!! That would be crazy!
Yeah, crazy. Like, what are you going to do when the mountain you’re climbing manifests your anxieties in the form of flying eyeball monsters that want to murder you?
Like a wise person once said, The idea is simple, the execution is not. This phase is basically the whole game.
So... does that mean the c-sides are an infinite pasta loop, or are they too simple for that?
Yes
Celeste is my favorite game of all time, so I’m happy you guys covered it
One of the most beautifully and carefully crafted games ever made. It's so so thoughtful at every level of game design and you can feel the love so deeply.
Hows the transition going?
I speedran this last week for charity. After only 4 weeks of simple training i finished Core% in 1:30 minutes. Such a great accomplishment for me personally. I have rarely felt so proud of a gaming achievement! And such a good feeling that i did it for a good cause!
Took me a second to realize that’s an hour and a half, and not a minute and 30 seconds. Had me questioning life for a second there.
Yeah, that's actually pretty fast, well done!
The thing that enabled me to complete this game was the accessibility feature to slow it down to half speed. I needed that extra time to make sure my dashes were in the correct direction, and not one of the ones next to it. I've been playing video games for decades, that's not a skill problem, that's not a training issue, that's a physical limit of my flesh.
Hell, it's not even unrealistic. Once recovered from a spin on a highway after the guy in front of me... I think he slammed on the brakes so the cop with the signal to stay in the right lane would be a witness, because we were *in* the right lane and there was no reason for him to do that. Adrenaline slowed everything down, and I was able to regain control (going in reverse, sadly) and then safely get to the shoulder. Real life has this feature, and I think it needs to be in more games! ^_^
It's a lot easier to aim your dashes with a keyboard instead of a d-pad.
@@benjaminlee985 can confirm. in my experience, keyboard > notched stick > dpad > unnotched stick. notched stick got me to 7C, but keyboard got me out.
that said i'm also glad they included the accessibility options and don't really punish you for using them. i was too stubborn to use them myself, but i like others being able to enjoy the games i enjoy
meanwhile, @ParrotDash is out here beating the hardest levels ever created by the community with an unnotched stick. Never say never.@@rubixtheslime
If you really want to crush your spirit, play the free DLC chapter 9. That thing was brutal, so much so that I nearly turned on assist mode just to get through it.
After, chapter 9 is released for tryharder who have do all face C 😂
and explore the strawberry jam mod afterwards
@@melted_nl or springcollab
The two is excellent for improves skills
I'm almost done with chapter 9.. this is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in any game 10/10
once you finish it it, go chill out with some Strawberry Jam :)@@kurincc
So glad fandom games talked about this hidden gem! I love supporting indie devs. The switch pro comes out tomorrow
Celeste is my favorite hidden gem I wish it got more attention. I already have the switch bro my dad is Miyamoto
It's really not a hidden gem. Literally every one who's spend a bit of time in reddit or yt knows it
Thatsthejoke.jpg
@@lordbobby198 anyone whose spent time on Reddit knows that’s the joke
having just beat chapter 9 for the first time last night, all this hits so close to home
The Celeste experience in a nutshell:
"How tf is anyone able do this?"
"Oh, that really isn't too bad"
"NOO! I was so close :("
"Can I PLEASE stop doing that!"
"Nice! That was pretty fun."
i absolutely love this game and the final chapter farewell even made my cry a LOT it was my game of the year in 2018 next to crosscode
I live how the intro is like "We would've done this a while ago, but the people who choose weren't here back then".
Because that's the only sane reason it would take so long.
Celeste is a game where when you finish the main game, you should go back and revisit from the a new game. You'll be amazed at how much you remember from your first playthrough and how a room where you might have died 100 times you clear in less than 10 deaths.
And in before speedrunners get mad that goo monsters weren't called dust bunnies.
I´ve been looking forward to this for a looong time. A little sad the speedrunning community wasn´t mentioned but I laughed at so many points of this
The best pure platformer I've ever played.
Celeste is ridiculously fun. It's the game which finally got me into speedrunning. Definitely worth the effort to learn how to beat the game in under an hour.
Oh my god finally! tysm!
Finally a Celeste trailer ❤
the end was so frustratingly hard that i had to cheese my way through it. my fingers thanked me for it lmao. great game tho!
The true message of Celeste isn't overcoming adversity, it's about how Trans people can double-jump.
When do I get that? do i have to come out first or do i get it with hrt?
you have to almost lose your life in a bridge collapse first apparently... @@LegorocketsAnimation
rather sweet way to end the honest trailers of 2023.(excited for next year & hope you had a merry christmas epic voice guy/anyone who sees this.:3)
Perfect timing! I just beat this game a weak ago and am now deep in the post-game content
Try Celeste mods, Strawberry Jam is amazing!
Someone making a metroidvania Celeste mod you should try that
@@aahilali8392 Interesting. But first I have to get it on steam since I have it on switch.
I absolutely love this game, many plays. You didn't mention how crazy hard the b and c sides get changing up the WHOLE bloody game 😂😂
0:43 As a queer trans person and as a mentally disabled person, i cant unsee the symbolic meanin of this monument
And every time i see it, im just overwhelmed with grief & anger for all my queer, trans, and disabled siblings and comrades; who perished on the climb
Those who i knew, who i knew of, and who i nvr got to know; i feel grief and rage for each of them, whether i know their names or not.
We can make the climb so much easier, and many of those who clomb before have done such alrdy for the climbs many of us clomb. We are makin the climb easier for all who will climb it in the future, little by little; by simply existin and talkin about our own climbs
Love your content guys! Hope you all has a happy christmas!🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁
Than you realize that the game has 4 difficults and 2 or three secret stages and a expansion só hard that makes you cry
Could you make one for Blasphemous?
On of the best indie metroidvania to come out with all the love devs can give it
This game is an absolute masterpiece
I can tell they didn’t do any b sides or anything cause they didn’t reference how they give you a tutorial near the end of the game.
That being said WOOOOOO CELESTE VIDEO
Just played this game for the first time a week ago.. what's with the sudden exposure? Totally deserved!
This channel's still alive! Also this is one of my favourite games!
Ya know, this video is absolutely spot on. I've shed many tears playing this game. Speaking of which, why DO I still play it?🤔
Madeline climbed the mountain to prove to herself that she could see something through to the end.
Celeste, nice. Please say: "Oh I'm glad you asked! We're using my latest innovation: Books!"
A Gravity Circuit honest trailer would be awesome btw.
Literally only got this game because the soundtrack kept popping up on my random Spotify list... and it's probably one of the best soundtracks ever.
Ok, about had a heart attack seeing the screenshot, thought for sure this was Cassette Beasts, then read the title. Ugh. Please do a trailer for Cassette Beasts! It's a hidden gem that's not getting enough exposure. If you like any monster catching type games, you'll love it! Promise!
They don't care.
@@sexyproductions5445 considering how long it took Celeste, it may happen one day!
Is that a real game
yes it looks dope and the same person who did the music for celeste worked on it so I'm confident it bops@@AC-hj9tv
You thought you could slip that DBZ Abridged reference past me, but i caught it!
Make an Honest Trailer for The Day Before
I see what you did there
"It's a good thing this game is really fun!"😂
Say "Now you're thinking with portals."
Man, the left side of the screen really is a cruel mistress
2:38 Shoutouts Team Four Star.
Don't deny it, 2024 is the year of truth.
Playing Celeste was the most fun I've had while sucking at the game.
Damn 2018 really had some crazy games.
Surprisingly I never got mad playing it. Except the comb room.
Fuck the comb room.
Lol nice
I'm transitioniiiiing!
been waiting for this one for a very long time.
You finally did this
Omg, I was laughing so hard at the part about rage. Well done 😂
Ah, Celeste. A little game that shows that non souls-borne game can also destroy your sanity.
Super Meat Boy would like a word...
This game also cracked quite a few eggs ;)
Do a Honest Game Trailer for Hyperdimension Neptunia
+
I love how a quarter of this trailer was just the writers throwing shade at themselves
One great strengthes of this game that I never saw mentioned: instant respawn :D
Now do Celeste: Strawberry Jam!
r/tomorrow is going to have a field day with this
now do HOLLOW KNIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
happy holidays, y'all!
Who'd imagine a game about overcoming anxiety and depression would cause me anxiety and depression.
I knew before watching that this would be only complimentary
Wow ! Definitely a welcome surprise !
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN ASKING FOR
That DBZA reference really caught me by surprise
Muito obrigado Honest game trailers eu platinei semana passada hora perfeita pra sair o vídeo
Not a single clip from chapter 8 or 9. I was not able to do the latter without assist mode.
Really an incredible game
Happy Holidays! Also, an Honest Trailer for Super Robot Wars 30, please?
Full marks for showing footage from the PICO-8 original!
Please say, "May the Force be with you... Always."
Great episode.
3:30 as somebody who literally played it for 8 hours yesterday, this is 100% accurate, but it could just be the 8 hours.
I am both mad at and afraid of the person online who told me this game "wasn't that hard".
Did you use any of the make the game easier options?
Please Say: "Life will tell you there's no mountain you can't climb. But Celeste will say, "Are you sure about that?""
Give me the chills with the line "Welcome to PlayPaintChill. You just gained honor +2 for following us ! ".
Please say "Hi, Jake. You're a good boy!" to my new puppy.
0:41 If you support the idea that the mountain is meant to represent battling/overcoming depression, the words on this tombstone take on a much darker meaning.
I broke my last controller playing Celeste and I have no regrets.
(I lol'ed at how you didn't even mention the B&C-sides or the Farewell DLC, which... just are on another level of difficulty)
Say "Birdseye Potato Waffles. They're waffely versatile."
I am so happy that this was made
Thanks for the video
*cries in Farewell*
You guys really need to do more indie games
I had another go at it last week, not like riding a bike, would have to get good all over again and i just couldnt
I surprisingly only got mad(eline) once or twice. I usually rage a lot
This is such a christmas gift...
A hat in time next please
I love playing this game... on invincibility mode.
A Day Before was so boring that I glad you were "forced" to do Celeste. Sitting in my library, waiting for my SM moment 😅
Madeline, along with Samus and Rosalina, are my video game crushes
Finally I asked for this
One of the best games of the last decade, nearly flawless lol, unlike my thumbs which are flawed and made me explode against spikes or lava about 17000 times
Conker's Bad Fur Day deserves an honest trailer!!!
Please say "I am the Bone of my Sword, Steel is my Body and Fire is my Blood"!
