- The best Halloween spider wins! We made an Alien Spider prop and Banshee animatronic for Halloween 2024. Follow along as we design, sculpt, mold, paint, and finish these amazing monsters. distortionsunlimited.com/coll...
The video begins with Tom Cassidy sculpting the Alien Spider in clay while Mike, Ed, and Zack work on the Banshee armature. Then Mando, Mon and crew prepare and mold the Alien Spider, and Janene and Lorena trim and prep them. The Alien Spiders are then ready for an epic paint contest between Ed and Tom that will help determine the final paint color of the spider. The crew will vote and give their opinions. Which color will be the best?
We also bring Jordu Schell in to sculpt Marsha's vision, the Banshee animatronic. Its unsure how this animatronic will turn out as the mechanics, sculpt, paint and costume all need to come together before the Transworld Halloween show.

Agreed! I miss having a new season of Making Monsters every October so much, but I think this is the start of something new that could take its place. My wife and I can't wait for the raptor episodes❤

Getting a Tyranid/Predator vibe from that spider, really great stuff! I watch Making Monsters every year around Halloween so the CZcams uploads have been a treat. Seeing the whole Distortions Unlimited family together and creating new monsters brings me joy.

I love your products as a Halloween fan (I own some of your animatronics) As a businessman I would suggest to you, a company that specializes in Halloween products to have more pumpkin options, you currently only have 2 (they are very cool) we need more Distortion jack-o-lanterns!

Well, dang, now I kinda want a different colored Alien Spider. I got one of the 1st ones, but I'm digging the different colors (I now realize this was the prototype phase).
We only offer the ghostly white version. The other colors were just paint tests for the crew vote but will not enter production. So don't worry you got the only color available! : )

I agreed with the staff about the paint choices of the Alien Spider. The brown legs just disappear while the white ones pop. The brown looks too much like the Pumpkin themed props in my opinion.

The banshee queens mouth opening like a puppet is kinda weird though 😅 is there a way to add silicone flesh to the sides of the mouth to make it look more like a scream instead of pac man?
And a better wig..
But really everything is so cool It’s just those two things made the banshee queen look cheap..
