Brenly, we would not recommend discharging a 150lb cylinder into the 150lb hopper for several reasons. A 450lb fill system would be the most appropriate system.

Ernie, it is perfectly safe to discharge any quantity of extinguishers in that time period. On a daily basis our shop discharges 40 to 50 extinguishers in a hours time and they work in an enclosed room.

So its safe to discharge the nitrogen gas inside the extinguisher directly into an enclosed room? What if you did 30 or 40 extinguishers in a 4 or 5 hours. Is it safe to discharge the nitrogen indoors? Thanks for any info

Are the Getz Equipment transfer machines a venturi type vacuum? If so have you ever considered using a medical vacuum pump? They are much quieter.

After you have discharged the extinguisher into the hopper, what do you do with the remaining little bit of powder left in the bottom ?

The remaining powder can be removed by our Hydro Aid 3G0047 which will blow/vac the left over powder into a shop vac or Powder Recovery device 3G0161 which will put the left over powder back into the hopper

Flip it up and down multiple times (fluff) turn it upside down hit with a rubber mallet gently. If you have a air hose around blow it out

There is a filter on top of the unit which allows the nitrogen to escape.

John, that is correct, it does state that you should not mix powders from other manufacturers. The problem is so many people do not follow that rule, so if you are servicing a unit that has already been serviced, you have no idea of that rule has been followed.

@@johntabacek581 our recommendation is always to follow NFPA code, but your AHJ has the final say on how they enforce said code.
