    Great video, especially the point about the lower back and kidneys. Thanks!

    Hi smaakjeks, we tend to suggest keeping gloves and boots tucked in under a wetsuit simply because if you use them outside of your suit any flush of water will generally loosen them and fill them with water.
    Any fresh water getting in to your wetsuit, boots or gloves whilst you are in the water will cool you down rapidly - so best to keep all seals as tight as possible.
    Cheers.

    Wetsuits are almost semi dry these days, they do indeed use the water that absorbs into the neoprene to then insulate you! but the absorption is a very gradual process so the water warms to your bodies temp by the time it reaches your skin, they are sealed to avoid flush through and fresh cold water from filling the suit as much as possible.

    Thanks for getting back. I'm about 38" chest. Well my shoulders aren't like really build but fairly wide, used to do swimming so yeah more triangular shape would be a lot better. Yeah it was an O'Neill Mutant and it was very uncomfortable on.. like really uncomfy, couldn't wait to get it off in the shop.

    Great video! Saved me a trip back to the store and returning the right sized suit because
    of the neck area!

    Having looked at the sizing, it occurs to me that only slimmish, 'ideal' body shapes can find wetsuits to fit. In particular, I cannot get my head around the link between height and body size, which frankly doesn't exist except for a minority! As someone who is 5'1" and a size 26, who just wants something to enable me to swim in the sea, I despair that a wetsuit for me doesn't exist!

    Hi
    My chest is 110cm, waist is 82cm.
    I bought size M which feels too tight on my chest as size M chest is 99-104, but waist fits perfect.
    If I to change it for Large, chest should be fine, but waist will be too big as L waist is 84-89.
    What do you recommend, change for loose waist, or hope for chest/shoulders to stretch?
    Note, I only tried it in a room, I heard it loosens up in water too

      It's the raglan gusset you’ll find in every wetsuit out there to prevent fatigue and increase range of motion when paddling.

  • @WetsuitcentreCoUk
    @WetsuitcentreCoUk  Před 11 lety

    Yeah oneill are definitely much more straight up and down, if you have a slimmer waist they tend to however over the kidney area. I would try a Rip Curl/Quiksilver or c skins, they should fit you much better

    I am just over 6ft tall and a UK dress size 12-14 and I can’t find anywhere that sells a single wetsuit that I could get into. Any advice for me? I guess it wouldn’t be wise to resort to a men’s wetsuit as the fit would be way off. I don’t want to give up yet…

  • @WetsuitcentreCoUk
    @WetsuitcentreCoUk  Před 12 lety

    The best fit for you would be an extra large short which a few brands make, but a extra large would not be a bad fit either. You may have extra length in the wetsuit but this would not effect warmth. Feel free to e mail us with additional help info@wetsuitcentre.co.uk

    Hey, I do wakeboarding in England and atm the water is pretty cold! I was looking at 5/4/3 wetsuits and I'm 6foot2 but really skinny like 30" waist so the large are really baggy. The Medium tall wetsuits are really tight on my shoulders and feel like im being strangled. Would you advise a m/tall wetsuit and just let it stretch from use?

    Question, if I just want to use a wetsuit for seasonal dock installation and fall removal ,
    Will a loose fitting suit keep me warm enough (warmer that just shorts) / or is it completely ineffective?

    Thanks for sharing. I understand triathlon wetsuits are different from those shown in the video. I have 2 triathlete boys ages 13 and 11 who are based in Malaysia. They will compete for the first time in the UK and require wetsuits. As this will not be a regular occurrence budget is a serious issue. I see brands such as Orca, Zone 3, Blueseventy and Aqua Sphere. Most do not give hip, waist and chest sizes, only weight and height. Any difference in these brands fitting? Any advise for tall slim boys?

    Hey Tim, Sounds like you must be quite broad in the shoulders? what is your chest size? You can get Small Tall sizes and Medium Small Tall in some sizes, but they are best for chest size of 38" max. If you do need to go for a MT due to how broad you are, go for Rip Curl or Quiksilver, they are very triangular and hug the waist much better than Billabong or Oneill. C Skins are also good for the slimmer chap!

    Isn't that called a drysuit? thought a wetsuit allows water in for insulation, where as a drysuit is for colder water and keeps the water out.

    It feels very tight on me.. i wore wet suit för the first time today and it felt like it was strangling me and pushing my ribs in which made it hard to take deep breaths. The size of it is right tho. Is this normal?

    The problem here is that height is a lot of times because of how long your legs are so that's not telling much on that part
