Yes, wonderful reaction. I agree, the world is full of extraordinary singers, but for me, there is no one that compares to Aurora, the songs she writes, the tone of her beautiful voice, she is just the total package of talent. Thanks.

Isn't she breathtaking?? I too love Enya, and I understand why you're reminded of her. Both have ethereal music.
    Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) live at the Nobel Peace Prize 2015. Haunting! ❀

You are on point, Enya was one her favorite singner, along with David Bowie and Leonard Cohen, when she grew up. Enya for the atmospher, David for the world that he was creating and Cohen for the writing and story telling. She is so different, you'll enjoye each one of her song. You can watch this concert, one or two at the time and you won't be desapoint. The full concert is a masterpiece.

Thank you for this lovely reaction to my favourite artist and one of my many favourite performances by her😍
This is an important song for her❀
    Another important song is
    “The Seed”
    A cry for Mother EarthđŸŒâ€ïž
I recommend both the music video + the live performance at the HAIK concert (the male choir was a surprise) + live at Vevo (a more stripped down version)
    I also recommend
“It Happened Quiet” live at Current
This song was inspired by domestic violence, the woman gets killed and comes back to haunt him

Aurora could have been singing about emptying her trash can, and I would probably have loved it. She doesn't just sing with her voice, she sings with her whole body and soul! No one over and no one right next to either! It's like she reaches out with her soul to touch your soul!! She really makes me proud to be Norwegian! You should check out "it happened quiet", Live at the Current.

Take the time to check out this other live version of this song, to compare and to see how she can vary her ways to perform a same song, one of her traits that makes her even more interesting:
Aurora - Through The Eyes Of A Child (Live) - Stripped (Vevo UK LIFT): czcams.com/video/CFzExUN1N8I/video.html
She's far beyond simply singing songs, all that she pours into her renditions is what makes her and her living art so touching, to me at least.
Anyway, nice reaction to Aurora, this living musical treasure.🙂👍

Do yourself a big favor and spend 4 min watching the same song privately, but the a cappella version on her main channel called: Through The Eyes of a Child - Stripped (Vevo UK Lift).
It is her only a cappella performance that is professionally recorded (not audience recording / fan cam).
It is just as beautiful as this version, but in a different way.

Enya is one of Aurora's biggest influences, so it makes sense you would be reminded of Enya. I think she's a mix of Enya, Delores from The Cranberries, and Bjork. She can't really be compared to anyone, though. She's just different.

Very nice 😊. I think it's related to culling (used for calling in the herd) and not yodeling, although I get why people call it yodeling 😊. One of her most important songs according to her. Wrote it when she could only see the dark sides of the world, to get it out of her system. She started writing as therapy in secret, and my impression is that's still the main reason she writes. Out of necessity. Saw her live last month, and she did a lovely version with her band.

Aurora has said she was very much influenced by Enya. That in their house when growing up, they had no radio or TV, and that the only records they had were Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and Enya. She does use a lot of Irish inflections on some words.

Great reaction 🙂 I'm not sure if we have a one word expression here in Norway similar to "keening", but I guess it would be something in the realm of "sþrgesang", as in a "song of mourning" perhaps. In this song it could be the mourning of no longer having the ability to see the world through the eyes of a child. In that respect, growing up is such a loss really, wouldn't you agree ?😉
Btw, BIG kudos to you for pronouncing NIDAROSDOMEN 95% correctly. It's the closest I have heard any non Norwegian speaking reactor come tbh. And that means the whole world except for 5 million people.....LOL Thanks a lot for reacting to both my favorite female artists in the world, being Angelina Jordan and Aurora. It seems you and I are off to a very good start, and the only possible way for it to get EVEN better would be if you could react to my 3rd favorite as well, being EivĂžr from the Faeroe Islands. I'd love if you could find the time to react to her song called "Falling Free", particularly the live concert performance at The Old Theater in TĂłrshavn. TĂłrshavn is the capital of the Faeroe Islands. She will blow you away, absolutely guaranteed đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„
    Much love from Norway ♄♄♄♄♄

Very nice reaction. You're on to something.
Aurora grew up without hearing much radio or similar.
She was musically shaped by a small group of records from her parents' collection. Mainly classical music and records by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and "Enya" 😊.
The first two inspired her lyrically and the latter, also vocally and atmospherically (although Aurora didn't really like her own voice much 😁).
She never received any vocal or musical training. Though she was trained as a talented dancer from 6-16.
She wanted to become a biologist etc.
Her music and composing of songs was something she kept only to herself, like a secret thing.
When circumstances finally revealed it, she was immediately approached by people in the music industry, but she turned them down. She had no interest in being a public figure/artist.
It was her mother who finally persuaded her. She told her that if her music could be of help to someone, it would be selfish to just keep it to herself.

New sub here, hi! Loved your reaction to this phenomenal performance by Aurora and so glad you did this one which is really special. She has so many amazing songs but I'd recommend 'the seed' official version first and 'winter bird' Also check out her concert live on Kemp which is amazing but she has so many amazing performances! If you have the time also watch her movie 'once Aurora' it really gives you an insight in just how talented she is and was at an early age and what she had to overcome to get where she is. Oh and her live version of Black water lilies...she hits an insanely high note at the end!

You can be a brilliant vocalist but are you a singer of songs? I won't name names of really good vocalists out there but who can't sing because they don't connect with the song.
This is her song. Its her composition. Written when she was 16? It means something to her and therefore it means something to the people listening. It's all there for everyone to experience. It's real. So is she.

A fine, articulate reaction. May I suggests this one next - this is a smiling, dancing Aurora in her element with "Daydreamer" from the magical HAIK concert from 2019 (filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood), (czcams.com/video/BrZAG_IJz9s/video.html). I hope that you can find the time to watch and enjoy it.
