And with its innovations it allowed it to be a top stadium in the nfl, with events like f1, soccer matches, tennis, rolling loud etc to be hosted there. In conclusion the stadium is fine.
There are zero plans for a new stadium. The renovations were $500 million. The only team getting a new stadium would be the Hurricanes and it will likely be right next to the new Inter Miami stadium next to the airport

He also bankrolled the renovations and wants to get his money’s worth. I do find it curious how privately financed stadiums have a much longer life it seems compared to those built with public money. If the city or county owned Hard Rock, the team probably would have been pushing for a new publicly funded super stadium for years already. After the Marlins Park disappointment, there’s absolutely no appetite for publicly funding stadiums in South Florida, and since the public doesn’t own Hard Rock, it’s hard to pressure local leaders to pay to even renovate it. If there’s going to be a new Dolphins stadium, it’s probably going to be next to the current stadium, but it’s not going to be for a long, long time. I went to a game at SunLife in 2013, it was a dump. The transformation they did turning it into Hard Rock was miraculous. As for the future, Hard Rock’s naming rights are up in 2034. I think in 7-8 years, rumblings of a new Miami stadium set to open around 2036-40 will start. Also note that the Dolphins lease of the land runs through 2082, so the new stadium will most likely be in Miami Gardens again.

The land is owned by Steven Ross... lock, stock, and barrel. You are also missing out on two other points besides the Dolphins, Hurricanes, and F1... The stadium land also hosts the Miami Open Tennis Tournament (moved from the publicly leased Crandon Park because of NIMBYs), and the HQs for the Miami Dolphins (moved from a leased area in Davie on the campus of Nova Southeastern University when the team switched medical care from them to Baptist Health). Joe Robbie, original owner of the Dolphins, purposely picked this land due to its ease of connection to many major highways (South Florida is NOT the public transportation Mecca you think it is, thus the expansive parking), the fact it was unincorporated Dade County at the time it was originally built (no city interference with permitting, etc.), and the land was dirt cheap and plentiful without the NIMBYs bitching about the noise and traffic. The F1 race b****slapped the NIMBYS around, because the zoning was for stadium commercial before Murder Gardens swallowed up the property through annexation (forced by Florida Law) and zoned in a bunch of 'subprime prick' living quarters around the property.
There was some minor bitching about noise when the stadium was built. I remember my next door neighbor at the time got a settlement from the Dolphins because he bitched about it. They also found and old American Indian burial ground when they where building the stadium.

Dolphins are my second favorite team and I live here. The improvements for the stadium if you were there prior and now made a HUGE difference. I'm not for all of these roofs as I'm a traditionalist and I think teams should use the weather as their advantage. Now this isn't baseball thus his mentioning of games being canceled rarely if ever happens. The overhang reduces the shade to 80% of the stadium but it's still hot. This is south Florida after all it's supposed to be. If you're in the lower bowl area, they've built an incredible variety of concessions that you get to by walking downward towards the field and then you go inside a tunnel. Thats a "cool off" area and I think it's worth the price of admission. You're not going to escape the heat here and why not make it an advantage? I'll agree they've bought themselves 10 years with this. PS: I"m going to Marlins park Sunday.
No drastic changes are needed for Hard Rock. Miami is one of the NFL’s top two Super Bowl venues along with the Louisiana Superdome. They’re almost guaranteed to host the big game every 5 to 10 years no matter what.
Roof would not work. Look where the support beams are. The center area near the hole looks to be a weak point of the support and would not take that extra weight.

(which is very possible) You still get natural sun light and an open air flow that comes thru the stands all around the stadium, not just the top. The weather while it is hot for a few games, isn't going to be enough imo to force them to want to build a whole new stadium. It's hard to predict 10-15 years from now, but the one thing that's terrible is the location. I can see an ocean front location or something more attractive that's closer to hotels, restaurants, bars, etc, so when there is a big event, visitors, fans and media don't have to stay 30 minutes away. Dolphin Stadium is in the perfect location for any professional team in South Florida. Miami Marlins should have built their stadium nearby because Dolphins and Marlins' true fans are in Broward County. Dolphin Stadium is 2 miles away from Miami Dade & Broward borderline. It's 1 hour from West Palm Beach. 30 to 45 minutes from Fort Lauderdale Broward. The neighborhood around it, Miami Gardens Carol City, is very violent crime ridden in most parts, but most fans dont hang around the stadium area anyway.
The Marlins were offered a sweetheart deal to build next to Hard Rock Stadium (free land) but got an even better deal from the City of Miami who stole from the city budget to provide free land plus plus fully pay for construction at the former Orange Bowl site.
i agree that tampa will eventually do something with their stadium but the more i think about it i think the glazer family will probable ask for a new dome. they are too close to the airport so im not sure they could add a roof or overhang much like levi stadium. plus their has to be a reason why the tampa bay rays never looked into building their stadium next to raymond james stadium on the plot of land where old tampa stadium once stood. my guess is they will hold onto that piece of land for a future stadium at some point wheather its 5 years or 20 years from now

while it might be a challenge, if the Marlins do move maybe the Dolphins could rebuild the Marlin's goofy park. I've never been there, and the pictures I've seen don't due do it justice, so maybe it's not possible. They could keep the 1rst base side the same, with redoing all the seats, and then put in full stands from the 2nd to 3rd base line reaching to the base of the roof in the current outfield. You can correct me if I'm off due to structural issues, but it's got a roof and can be completely enclosed easily, meaning the Phins could have an closed stadium during the heat. I visited Miami numerous times. Once, around Thanksgiving it was in the upper 70s. I wore shorts and sandals. I walked into a mall and found the San Fransisco Music Box company and heard Jingle Bells. I looked down, shorts, T-shirt, no socks and said "Nope, I can never live here". One of my brother's lived there until Hurricane Andrew. I was living in Madison and he'd call me for Christmas. "How's it down there. "Oh 85 and sunny". We had 45 inches snow and I had a day off of work to enjoy it. He called me a week later, we had 65 inches of snow, it was 85 and sunny. If the Marlins leave Miami, I think the Dolphins could completely remodel their stadium, given it's movable roof. That way they can not have lightning delays, which has happened, or have issues with the sun being so bight. Also rain delays, while rare, I've seen the Phins get delayed because of standing water. Prove me wrong, I have no issue admitting I'm wrong, since I've never been there and pictures and videos just can't do it justice.
Marlins won't move for 15-20 years if it happens at all.In the end Miami is a metro with like 7 million people,the chances of them ever moving are like less than 10%.
I am a season ticket holder and do not recall any rain/lightning delays since the most recent stadium renovations have been completed. And even if you check my memory and come up with some rare instances, that would not justify putting a translucent roof on Hard Rock. Instead of translucent roof, maybe bubble wrap it for the zero-risk seeking pansies out there. One way to mitigate against the risk of rare rain/lightning delay is to just stay home on game day.
The United Football League should consider reintroducing the Maniax Football team as the "Miami Maniax" at Hard Rock Stadium, or alternatively, both the Maniax and the Dolphins could utilize LoanDepot Park for football events.

I can definitely see the NFL forcing them to put that translucent roof on it. I was at the 2022 game vs the Bills when multiple players were checking in and out the game because of heat issues. The Bills complained to the NFL and OSHA (visitors in the sun, Dolphins in the shade)… look at this year’s Dolphins schedule. They have only two 1pm games in the months of Sept & Oct at home (vs Jax- another Florida team and Arz who’s from the hot climate state as well). The other home games are at night or they are on the road. Taking away a home field advantage.
The wet season ends in September in Florida,the season starts in September,all that rain and lightning disappear in Oct,I don't see the point of messing too much with the roof over a month.Most of the NFL season runs in months that aren't a huge problem,now baseball gets June,July,August and September,the absolute worst months.

while it might be a challenge, if the Marlins do move maybe the Dolphins could rebuild the Marlin's goofy park. I've never been there, and the pictures I've seen don't due do it justice, so maybe it's not possible. They could keep the 1rst base side the same, with redoing all the seats, and then put in full stands from the 2nd to 3rd base line reaching to the base of the roof in the current outfield.
You can correct me if I'm off due to structural issues, but it's got a roof and can be completely enclosed easily, meaning the Phins could have an closed stadium during the heat. I visited Miami numerous times. Once, around Thanksgiving it was in the upper 70s. I wore shorts and sandals. I walked into a mall and found the San Fransisco Music Box company and heard Jingle Bells. I looked down, shorts, T-shirt, no socks and said "Nope, I can never live here". One of my brother's lived there until Hurricane Andrew. I was living in Madison and he'd call me for Christmas. "How's it down there. "Oh 85 and sunny". We had 45 inches snow and I had a day off of work to enjoy it. He called me a week later, we had 65 inches of snow, it was 85 and sunny.
If the Marlins leave Miami, I think the Dolphins could completely remodel their stadium, given it's movable roof. That way they can not have lightning delays, which has happened, or have issues with the sun being so bight. Also rain delays, while rare, I've seen the Phins get delayed because of standing water.
Prove me wrong, I have no issue admitting I'm wrong, since I've never been there and pictures and videos just can't do it justice.
Marlins won't move for 15-20 years if it happens at all.In the end Miami is a metro with like 7 million people,the chances of them ever moving are like less than 10%.

I am a season ticket holder and do not recall any rain/lightning delays since the most recent stadium renovations have been completed. And even if you check my memory and come up with some rare instances, that would not justify putting a translucent roof on Hard Rock. Instead of translucent roof, maybe bubble wrap it for the zero-risk seeking pansies out there. One way to mitigate against the risk of rare rain/lightning delay is to just stay home on game day.
Hardrock Stadium looks very similar now to Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane

I can definitely see the NFL forcing them to put that translucent roof on it. I was at the 2022 game vs the Bills when multiple players were checking in and out the game because of heat issues. The Bills complained to the NFL and OSHA (visitors in the sun, Dolphins in the shade)…
look at this year’s Dolphins schedule. They have only two 1pm games in the months of Sept & Oct at home (vs Jax- another Florida team and Arz who’s from the hot climate state as well). The other home games are at night or they are on the road.

The wet season ends in September in Florida,the season starts in September,all that rain and lightning disappear in Oct,I don't see the point of messing too much with the roof over a month.Most of the NFL season runs in months that aren't a huge problem,now baseball gets June,July,August and September,the absolute worst months.
I really would like for the Dolphins to move back to the city near the airport where the soccer stadium would be. I feel like Loan Depot Park could've been the Dolphins new stadium, maybe that site is possible as well.

Why do they need a roof? It's Miami... it's FOOTBALL.. rain is not an issue... it's snow and freeezing temps that's a problem.. (or 110+ temps here in Phoenix).. Baseball is another story. you don't play in the rain... but football.. rain is NOT a problem.

i agree that tampa will eventually do something with their stadium but the more i think about it i think the glazer family will probable ask for a new dome. they are too close to the airport so im not sure they could add a roof or overhang much like levi stadium. plus their has to be a reason why the tampa bay rays never looked into building their stadium next to raymond james stadium on the plot of land where old tampa stadium once stood. my guess is they will hold onto that piece of land for a future stadium at some point wheather its 5 years or 20 years from now
