    After the latest update started behaving strangely. It no longer tracks my Gpu sensors even though it was working perfectly before that. Some fans don't display properly at all and have no rpm on them. When I switch to manual mode and try to set it, it automatically switches to 100%, and only when the exhaust is at maximum does it start to return to the setting I gave it. A couple of updates ago it worked perfectly and was a perfect program.

    Can i still change fan speeds if fans are only 3-pin? It shows my case fan rpm but manually adjusting the rpm doesnt affect anything.

    • @onslaugh7pc
      @onslaugh7pc  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes you can, assuming the motherboard header has variable voltage fan control (most do), you will need to set the fan control to DC mode in BIOS.

  • @TheHarleyH

    Tops video. Thank you. I have just installed a new rear exhaust fan advertised as 200-1800rpm, however in Fan Control if I select anything under around 400rpm (about 20%) it stops spinning and goes to 0rpm. But when I calibrated it (in Fan Control), it started working from like 1% and registers the rpms. Any suggestions?

    • @onslaugh7pc
      @onslaugh7pc  Před 2 měsíci

      Double check you have Start %, Stop % and Minimum % set to 0%, but it sounds like you do. It is most likely that manufacturer RPM ranges assume perfect 12v input and no resistance to overcome and even then they usually have a 10% tolerance margin. But in the real world you will have some resistance to overcome and you may have multiple fans running off the same header/hub or extension wires etc, that will cause some voltage drop and all these factors will impact the fans minimum and maximum rpm values. Ie the greater the air flow restriction and the lower the voltage the higher the rpm the fan will stall (stop spinning) at.
      TLDR 400rpm is mostly likely the minimum RPM your fan will spin at. I wouldn't be too concerned 400 rpm should be pretty inaudible. If you need it to be quieter just let it stop.

    i have tested fan control a little bit and for my rig and just having a flat RPM was fine BUT, whenever i restart or shutdown my pc it seems that the RPM is not high enough to keep it cool until the shutdown occurs so it turns off due to overheating, will putting a graph curve attached to the CPU sensor cut it?
    sorry for just asking its kinda late so i dont have time to configure it right now 😿

    • @onslaugh7pc
      @onslaugh7pc  Před 23 dny

      So you are saying your pc overheats only when its shutting down? When fan control is closed the fans should revert back to BIOS control. I would need more information to be able to help you. But if you look in your motherboards user manual it should tell you how to adjust the fan control in your BIOS.

    • @fourty9933
      @fourty9933 Před 22 dny

      @@onslaugh7pc ok i will look into it even further, maybe this supposed overheating shutdown (assuming to my judgement atleast) was just a fluke, lets hope that i resolve it so i dont have to bother you again.

    Hello, could you tell me how to return to the original configuration of the fans? And after doing it, how can I verify that it really is the normal configuration?

    • @onslaugh7pc
      @onslaugh7pc  Před 15 hodinami

      Once you close the program (make sure it isn't running in task manager) it will default back to whatever is set in BIOS.
      As for verifying it depends on how its setup in BIOS but you could max out all the fans in Fan Control then exit out and see if the fan speeds return back to normal. Otherwise you would need to look at how the fan curve is set in BIOS and keep an eye on temps and see if the fans are following the curve set in BIOS.

  • @panic_2001
    @panic_2001 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Discovered yesterday. The program is absolutely top.
    I have 2x140 mm Noctua at the front (Y + Low Noise Adapter (voltage is reduced), both on one PWM connection). Unfortunately, Fan Control can't handle this, the Noctuas stop completely at speeds below 50%. I'll probably have to unscrew the computer

    • @onslaugh7pc
      @onslaugh7pc  Před 3 měsíci +2

      You can change the minimum % to 50 so that the fans don't stop, or remove the low noise adapter that will allow you drop below 50% without the fans stopping. Having the fans stop isn't always a bad thing I like to chose fans that stop below a certain pwm signal so that I have the option for them to stop spinning below a set temp, this reduces noise and dust build up when you are just idling.

    • @panic_2001
      @panic_2001 Před 3 měsíci

      @@onslaugh7pc Thanks for your answer.
      A BQ Shadow Wing 140 mm runs on the back, fan control adheres exactly to the BQ specifications: 50% speed = 450 rpm and can go down to 30%.
      For the Noctuas (NF-A14 PWM) at the front I use 2 xNA-SRC7 (low noise from 1500 rpm becomes 1000 rpm): 50% speed = 650 rpm with fan control; below 50% speed massive problems (fan speed fluctuates or they stop completely.
      Guess: The NA-SRC7 are the problem + have to go.

    Hi thanks so much for the indepth guide ! I recently built a PC with pieces I found here and there, my motherboard is an ASUS x470 and I have 6 fans (all 4pins) + GPU fan. Two case fans (fractal) on the front / two on top, one in the back and one on the CPU (all 4 are bequiet). In the BIOS i see all 6 (optionnal CPU + Waterpump), but in Qfans i see only 4 fans (CPU, CHA1/2/3 FAN). In FanControl, I have 7 readings in the speed section but only 6 controls. I can control the GPU fan easily but all the others dont seem to respond to the manual control. The 4 fans in Qfan have been switched to PW mode.
    I think there's something wrong with how I've paired them to the motherboard but I'm a begginer and don't know much about all this. Would you be able to tell me where I might have done things wrong ?

    • @onslaugh7pc
      @onslaugh7pc  Před 8 dny +1

      You haven't done anything wrong at all, on the majority of motherboards the OPT header is not a separate channel, ie CPU and CPU_OPT are the same control they aren't individually addressable, it would be the same if you were using a splitter or hub to connect 2 or more fans to the same header.

    • @thomasgesbert9758
      @thomasgesbert9758 Před 5 dny

      @@onslaugh7pc Ok I think I understand what you mean. I didn't even know you could split one channel for two fans ahaha. It's good knowing I can use a splitter to regulate two fans at the same time. It will make it a lot easier for cable managment too ! But why is it that I see only 4 fans on the Qfan interface. Does it mean that the water / air pump cannot be regulated and are always at maximum speed ? Thank you for answering btw, you've been really helpful getting a hang of this whole new thing
