Nice haul! The yellow cover Nancy Drew books are hot commodities at all of the library book sales I've gone to. Everybody wants them. I love reading Nancy Drew! It's definitely a comfort read for me.
I’m so excited to start reading them!
All I can say is that these books 📚 are some of my favourite books from my childhood and I am really jealous of your book haul please stay safe and enjoy your reading 📖 love your family friend John xxxx
You were talking about how much you loved the covers. I don't know if you are old enough to remember the 70s TV show, but I found it fascinating that they bothered to pose the actors in the same positions as the classic covers-especially since it was just for the opening sequence, and TVs at the time really didn't have the resolution for the watcher to fully appreciate what they were doing. For anyone interested, I'm sure you can find the opening sequence for the show on youtube-you will see that the actors were photographed to mimic the original covers. MAN, I loved that show as a kid (still do)
Oh my! I didn't know that!!!!! But I will totally go look into it now!
@@Courtagonist Please let me know when you see it. (They only did this for seasons 1 & 2-if you see a season 3 intro, you won't find it. I'm not sure if I am allowed to put a link in the comments, or I would direct you to youtube vids of this I found online. (Actually, full episodes are online too!))
I love the old covers of Nancy Drew. My parents have some old Hardy Boys books.
They are just so beautiful!
Love this! I have so many memories of my mother reading a couple of chapters to me each night as a kid. I'd make her read the first couple pages of the next chapter if there was a cliffhanger (just to be safe!) and I credit this series and that nightly routine with my love of reading (and what eventually led me to writing as well.)
The old covers are the best! This looks so much like my collection (original stickers in some cases and all as it was my mother's collection that ended up staying with me instead.) One of my favorite Jigsaw Puzzle gifts from a few years ago was the original 56 yellow hardcover images + the back that had the list of titles. I was shocked to realize that some of the covers were different than the ones I have so there are definitely a couple of different sets scattered throughout that box (some with endpages, some with the list on back etc) but it still goes together and it makes me happy to see a well-loved set of those books for sure!
I'm usually more into keeping things pristine / matching, but my Nancy Drews are definitely well-worn and mish-mashed (and beyond #56 - last hardcover - I have the paperbacks up to #165 where it ended. I think I'm only missing around a dozen paperbacks overall and this series is definitely harder to find so this many at once is incredible! Usually they sell the first maybe 10 hardbacks and that's about it.)
I started doing a reread not too long ago and am loving it so glad to hear you're enjoying them! I have such fond memories but also tend to remember who did it so have to wait ages to be surprised again. I haven't read some of these in decades but they still stick out so vividly to me. Am looking forward to getting back to them though. It's been too long!
I love that you have such a connection to Nancy Drew and that it helped ignite your love of reading!!!! That puzzle sounds super super cool!
Wow Courtny! You got an early Christmas present! Those are awesome! I used to watch the Hardy Boys and some Nancy Drew!
I did! I did!!!!!

Sweet lord those editions are so gorgeous! I have some old Nancy Drew books but mines don’t have the dark edging on the spines 😍😍😍 may i bother you for the exact tear of this collections? Both for Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew? They are just beautiful and they will look stunning on your bookshelves, enjoy ☺️
Amen
Omg my very first cozy mysteries! Great haul! Lucky you.!
Thank you! I’m very lucky!
Hi book lovers ,just started reading Nancy Drew again after all these yrs ,and it's fun reading again ,thanks for sharing ,
You are so welcome!
I don't know what you are into besides Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew, but if you are looking for kids mysteries, I recommend the Three Investigators series (published from around 1964 to 1989), Trixie Belden (published from 1948 to 1986), the McGurk Organisation (published from 1973 to 1996), and the two Bobbsey Twins mysteries series from the 1980s. Those were my favourites as a kid, and I still crack them open and reread them (I have the entire set from each)
I personally didn't like the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew books because I saw them as too repetitive, however I LOVED the TV show as a kid (I'm talking about the 1970s show with Parker Stevenson, Shaun Cassidy and Pamela Sue Martin) I also watched the Bonita Granville movies from the 1930s when I was a kid (on TV of course-I'm not THAT old!)
Hahahaha! You've totally added more and more to my TBR!!! Thank you!!!
@@Courtagonist What is "TBR"? I don't want to plug myself here, but I did book reviews as an overall thing for Trixie and McGurk on my channel, and I did individual reviews for the first 5 New Bobbsey Twins books. Actually, I did the first 4 and the other reviews some time ago, but after watching your channel, I was motivated to review #5 just a couple days ago. Have a look if you like (I own the rights to the photos taken of the models who posed for the artist for the New Bobbsey Twins (well, for some of the photos) I included some in my latest review!
Hope y can collect the remainder what fun 👍
Me too!
Should be for all mystery a collectible 📕📕📕📚📚📚👍
Yes!
I love old nancy drew book s the most
They are amazing!
I'm selling mine from 1946 to 1957 a dozen. I can't paste photo here tho
I have some Nancy Drew books from when I was a child and I loved to read her. I had every book ever made by her at the time( I'm 66 years old) and mine are dark blue covers, hard book, with just a single line on it stating the name of the book and a silhouette of Nancy. Is there anyway I can tell if my books came out before the books you just received did or did yours come out before mine. I am slowly trying to rebuild the collection that I had I could kick my hiney that I didn't keep it all those years but now I'm getting one of my rooms in my house turned into a dedicated Library and I want Nancy to have an appropriate place in my library also:-) but I don't know which one now I should collect I thought the ones I had were the oldest ones so to speak. I don't want to mix collections if you know what I mean. Can you help me? Have been an Avid Reader of yours since I found you about 3 years ago witchy cozy Mysteries my next favorite genre
You know, I'm not sure about telling the difference. I normally look at the copy right/publishing date. I just know that I love the pre-1980 versions of the books.
I just read my first Nancy Drew book and came across this video! Do you still read and collect them??
I do!!!! So glad you found my channel!
@@Courtagonist I’m starting a little collection myself! These are such fun books to read! I posted a video of my thoughts on The Hidden Staircase, feel free to check it out!
Thank you for letting me know!!!
