I'm a christian but realized through studying witch craft I've been doing witchy things my whole life. I'm Irish and Scottish, (I only mention this because of the strange Celtic witchy stuff I would do without even knowing it! ) We live in Canada. My parents have pretty intense heritage on both sides....my mothers side once fought in the war involving jacobites and the clearances. Her side stayed in PEI with other scottish descendants until my mother was born and they moved close to Toronto. My great aunt through marriage actually wrote the Anne of Green Gables books! I was made fun of for hugging and talking to trees growing up. I started collecting acorns and named the trees outside my home. I only named the acorn trees, the one was huge...his name was Mr. Oakly. I can't help but be a bit creeped out as this was all intuitive!? I used to collect the acorns and gift them to friends and boys I liked.....when I was ten the month of my first period I collected a bunch of Mr.Oakly's acorns and layed them beside me in my bed.....I woke up with MEAL WORMS CRAWLING AROUND ME AND SCREAMED SO LOUD! My Dad looked sick to his stomach and yelled at me to throw them out. He couldn't understand why I decided to do it and neither could I....I also made a fairy home out of a shoe box when I was ten and he threw it across the room I can still see how red his face was and how disturbed he was, my mother cried too because she said there was nothing wrong with a little girl using her imagination. His background is SUPER Irish Catholic, and he told me not to mess with things I don't understand. I cried for hours that night. I pray to God and Jesus....but I can't denounce that my celtic origins played out on their own through my blood without my even knowing what I was doing. I made my only closest friend who I'm still VERY close with today hug my two best friend Oak trees who I would call my tree parents, whenever she'd come over. Mr Oakly guarded me when I'd sneak out to sit under him at 3am during summer rain storms, and the other was at the side of my home who was the mother tree and I had a swing attached to her and I'd listen to music and cry while I swung watching cars go by. I remember crawling up into her limbs and reading my favourite Harry Potter books lol! I did this as young as 10...my parents were "Somewhat" Christian....they did not expose me to witch craft AT ALL! Just Discovery Channel lol! Christian or not, you can not yell at a child for mirroring your own roots just because you fear the connection they have with something you've cut off in yourself long ago.

I am an italian witch from Southitaly, Bari. Nowadays I live in Germany, were paganism is flourishing. I can say, that even in Rome they have relighten the fire of Vesta, there is a special group who has done this with its priestesses. In my hometown the Goddess is well present and witchcraft and wicca is a big thing and even the Italians were not all christians anymore, they didnt go to church either, it is all a clichee that italians were all christians, it is not true. The "Virgin" Mary is just a male fantasy of what they want women to be like: meek, subservient, de-sexed, virginal but still a mother somehow, covered up (no showing secondary or tertiary sexual characteristics), etc. She is not a holy anything, she is a hollowed-out replacement for the truly powerful goddesses we used to know. She is meant to drag us down and distract us, appease us, while the patriarchy ruins our lives by limiting our potential (to be no more than mothers, and if not mothers, we are useless terrifying hags, or sinfully alluring young women). Read the rosters of the victims of witch burnings, ~70% were female, many were girls aged 8-25, and then there's a gulf where it's rare to see women who are child-bearing age be burned, and then it picks up again as we become useless to men. Mary is a symbol of this oppression, she is not someone to revere; rather she is someone to pity.

Spiritually speaking (gender aside), matriarchal wisdom can begin with a fundamental understanding of the cyclical nature of reality (God).
Represented by the snake in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth).The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle.
As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8).
