You're staying with it Ol' buddy! You tend to get really good at buffing along the way learning to paint! I do think thats really close to Petty blue. I would increase the air pressure somewhat to atomize the paint better but you hosed plenty on there! LOL! and didnt rub through. Thats good enough, time to build some power under that hood! Hang in there, Good job!

In the last video when you started clearing so soon I knew what was about to happen. Been there myself getting impatient lol. The biggest key to painting a car is patience.
I can’t blame you at all for sanding those runs out of the quarter and sail panel. With any car that doesn’t have a break from the roof to quarter it’s hard to get a good lasting blend without having to do the roof, both quarters, and filler panel between the rear window and trunk because eventually you will see a halo where it’s been blended.
Regardless it turned out sweet and I certainly would rock it every day!

i Was watching the last video and thinking the whole time 555 Mica ( The original wrx blue) would look awesome on this car, the new color is pretty dam close and i think it looks amazing, great video, great work and a great result. You make it look way easier than i know it is. You mention 100 different people would have a hundred different techniques. The geography and weather plays a part in the process as well. Im watching from Australia, i couldnt imagine sanding a car inside and then trying to paint it in the same place. id just wait for summer , when i know ill have weeks without rain and work outside.

I agree with not using wax & grease remover. It leaves a residue behind. I use a few drops of Dawn dish soap in my wet-sanding bucket for all my paint prep work so I'm constantly degreasing the car. Always works for me. Research how to back-tape lower rockers &n the whole lower portion of the car & tape the paper to the floor to avoid all underbody overspray. And back-tape wheel openings, that way there's no overspray in wheel wells and under the car. It keeps dust down a great deal as well.
For gun setup, reduce your fluid volume by 25%, increase air pressure to like 40psi, open the fan to at least 8-10 inches and you'll be amazed how smooth the paint will lay compared to your results. It's the little things that make the difference between an ok job and a beautiful finish.

If you go base/clear on your next paint job, it's going to be the best experience of your life! After shooting single stage, you'll be shocked at how much easier it is to go base/clear. You'll lay the base on and you won't believe how much easier it is to get totally perfect coverage without doing 3 or 4 layers. And you won't ever run the paint, because the base coat will flash super fast compared to the single stage, since there's no clear coat mixed in with it. Trust me, you'll level up your game 10X and you won't ever go back to single stage again!
