I can't really pick a favorite. I love DW4's dramatic tone, but DW6 sounds more angry and avenging, almost a musical manifestation of Liu Bei's emotion at the time.
I could make a ranking, but they're all good in their own way (although I don't like DW2/3). DW5 and DW6 are in rage mode, as if to say, "You killed Guan Yu, now you're gonna get it" with no remorse. DW4 and DW8 are sad and angry at the same time (rightful retribution). This feels like a sin saying this, but DW6 is my favorite. The emotion is strong enough in this track.
It is never a sin to say that something from DW6 is your favorite. DW6 gets bashed on wayy too much. Don't think that you're worthy of condemnation just because the public doesn't agree.

They tried something and it wasn't as good, but everything else surrounding that mistake is pretty good. They changed some weapons around. Some stuck (Zhang Liao) and some didn't (Zhang He, Ma Chao and Taishi Ci). It's probably still one of my least favourites personally but if it was the only warriors game I had access to I'd definitely still play it.
Avenging Battle is and always will be making me break in tears. DW4 was my very first game, I still remember how I was crying from Joy when I ended the game for the first Time. Avenging Battle sounds So dramatical, but at the same Time calm and motivational. DW4 has Best OST in my opinion.
Back in the Day I used to LOVE Avenging Battle. But there's just something about With Vengeance, I think it might be the Drums in the beginning. They just sound like War approaching. I don't what it truly is but With Vengeance just does it for me now. Every time.
knowing some of the history or even the romanticized, Guan Yu's death, Zhang Fei's death, Liu bei wanted Wu to pay. Avenging battle - captures this for me, and not in the obvious way, its not Liu Bei's perspective but rather, history's perspective. as much as it is a sick sounding and immersive piece, it is twinged with melancholy, Liu Bei is marching his dream to its death as well as his own. Everything he sacrificed and worked towards, with his brother's was burned in his desire for vengeance. The nobility which brought him to establish Shu-Han was put aside. He marches to war, because he must, come what may, he marches to his death, to put his soul at rest.
dw6 wasn't good stop it, the idea was good but they didn't produce , only like 20 characters had their original fighting style and others were clones & thru maybe had 20 battles it was horrible
I really did prefer 2's Killing Time. It sounds off in 3... 4's was a new listen for me at least. Yeah. It's pretty damn good. But I'll always love With Vengeance, because I'm a fanboy.
@Sima Yi nahhh, for DW6 ,the historical reference is not right and the story is too dull from my perspective. As far as i know, DW8 is the most historically accurate DW series ,followed by DW7... that's my opinion tho

DW6 obviously has the best soundtracks of all DW. Most people would agree. Gameplay-wise may not be that good but the music is so god-tier.
Dynasty Warriors 5 version is a dark and gritty theme , you can feel Liu Bei's downfall.

The Shu theme doesn't last long anyway if you don't avoid the fire attack. Just reminds me of Lu Meng, Gan Ning and Lu Xun absolutely destroying me

Klavier Vollstandig DW6 also has the best cloth design in my opinion. Look at Zhao Yun, Gan Ning and Zhang Liao. Lu Bu looks like a demon.
