    If you use half warm water and half milk, and add in a tablespoon of dried milk powder you'll get a much softer loaf. Gotta love fresh bread!

    I have won chili cook offs so a hint or two. One half green bell pepper chopped and sauteed with onions. Also if you use ground turkey add one carrot grated and one half stalk of celery finely chopped to saute. I use fresh tomatoes here in Chile because they don't have canned veggies alot here. But i do use tomato sauce. My chili con carne is flavorful but not spicy, thats why its award winning. If Im going to serve it as a pot luck offering I also add one bag of frozen corn when I add the beans. I use kidneys and pintos. I hope these suggestions sound good.

    Looks like good chili. I make some that is a lot like it except it has 14 kinds of beans and mushrooms in it. The coco is a must. I enjoy your videos, except you can have the cold and snow. I spent the first 64 years of my life in Michigan. Moved to south Georgia a year and 1/2 ago. I don't miss the cold weather a bit. It has been cool here but gets up into the 60s and 70s most days. Thanks for sharing your videos.

    Well, Joe, you are missing a few things I add to my chili. To start I usually use venison and the following additions beside what you added:can of tomato soup,can of whole kernel corn, can of pork and beans, large can of mushrooms(8 oz size), diced green peppers,diced celery, parsley flakes, hot sauce, steak sauce, red pepper flakes and finally a doll-up of peanut butter instead of sugar. I empty the juice out of the can of corn but not the juice in the cans of kidney beans.Serve it as is or with corn bread, with oyster crackers,over rice or over mashed potatoes. Try it some day and I'm sure you will prefer it to that plain chili you made.

It's going to be around 8 degrees tonight, that's cold for east Tennessee. We had a little snow this evening but not much. I'm ready for a good one and then I'll be fine with spring making an early arrival. Cheers!

    • @karenchakey
      @karenchakey Před 6 lety

      Lol....I will not be canning the noodles again, it took like 4 or 5 quarts of them to do a casserole....I think zucchini is better fresh too, but I saw a video that a lady shredded them and canned them and said she used it for baking bread, so I might try that next time, I think you would get a lot more in the quart jar by shredding it.

    I'm a chili lover from the UK. Chocolate (or in your case cocoa powder) works. Don't know why, some kind of black magic. But try a good dose of Worcestershire sauce in place of it some time and I love putting some fresh chopped cilantro in at the end with the kidney beans.

    • @NorthernSeclusion
      @NorthernSeclusion  Před 6 lety

      I was wondering about cilantro to give it that savory taste. A person has to be careful though because too much of it would ruin the whole batch.

      @ruk2023-- Před 6 lety

      I just chuck a good handful (roughly chopped) in a 6 quart chili but start small and add more. It only needs a couple of mins for the flavour to seep in.
