Odolttogi Fantasy / HAN AH REUM
오돌또기 환상곡은 5음 음계로 이루어진 제주도의 민요 오돌또기를 세계적인 음악어법에 맞게 새롭게 재탄생 시킨 곡이다. 독특한 자연풍광을 가진 제주도의 아름다운 모습을 표현하기 위해 다양한 음악어법을 사용했다. 처음의 팡파르는 모진 바람과 거친 파도를 마주한 제주의 기상을 표현했으며, 곡의 중간부분에 등장하는 빠른 템포의 짧은 멜로디는 변화무쌍한 세계의 여러 모습들을 묘사한다.
이 선율은 나중에 오돌또기와 함께 나타나 세계 속의 제주를 표현한다. 오돌또기가 등장하는 부분은 누구나 공감 할 수 있도록 멜로디는 그대로 살리고 반음계의 베이스 라인과 다양한 화성을 사용하여 풍부한 분위기를 살렸으며, 후렴부는 서양의 중세시대에 사용된 교회선법을 사용하여 신비감을 더했다.
"Odolttogi Fantasy" is based on a Korean folk song, "Odolttogi" which consists of a pentatonic scale. This piece uses a variety of musical elements to express the beautiful scenery of Jeju, one of the Korean islands. The fanfare at the beginning of the piece represents the vigor of Jeju. The short melody figures in the middle of the piece describe a continually changing world. The melody is contrasted with the "Odolttogi" song, and they are presented alternately. The piece adds chromatic scales in the bass line and various harmonic processes to show mysteriousness. The world premiere was presented by the Jeju Wind Orchestra.
