I tried this. For those wanting more specifications, I used 17" (43 cm) of 16 gauge wire. To join the wire into a circle I overlapped 2" and twisted. This left me with a circle roughly 5" in diameter. Follow the video to make the twists on the sides. 16 ga. is stiff. You could probably go 18 ga. and make it work too.

I really like how easy your method was. I'm making wedding reception centerpieces with the wire hangers so my daughter can use them later. She's getting married at the beach so I'm using sand and shells at filler with LED candles.
