Briefly dated a handsome man in his early 50s and he told me he didn’t want to take a pay raise because it would bump up his tax bracket. I immediately knew he didn’t know how taxes work. Who in their right mind would turn down more money or a higher salary? Then he tried to deflect by saying “life isn’t about money”.
