- My experience with catch cans and instructions on routing hoses for the setup for E70 X5M (S63).
I vape, so I vaped into the intake boot! LOL

YES PLS THANK YOU
What’s the sizes of the inside diameter of the hoses?
How did you figure out you had a valve issue? Great content BTW.
Its' idle hasn't been very smooth (I wouldn't call it rough) for a while and blue smoke after idling 30 seconds to a minute, however, no smoke at cold start or under load - so I could only point to or narrow it down to the CCV system and I replaced the entire system but it still had the same symptoms, so I smoke tester for leaks and found a minor leak anyway to cut it short I blew into each of the check valves and one of them was bad, replaced it and it was good for a week and symptoms came back Lol so I'm now replacing check valves with quality aftermarket check valves, OEM check valves are total garbage - will make a video on it. Thank you for the appreciation!
I did full -6an catch cans and if we miss the check that runs to the intake manifold it'll put the catch cans under vacuum and suck out every bit of oil lol however I'm now trying a block off plate for the intake manifold line I've read since we have map sensors it shouldn't disturb the ideal in any way but more is yet to be seen
I have read/seen several ways but this made the most sense to me - don't want to mess with the german engineering. 😉
@@E70MGarage yeah since I'm trying for a full -6an setup I'm kinda having to pioneer it lol and on top of that I think im have valve stem failure, it's really to bad this car is so much fun I could have had something else with the amount of money I've put into it
@@billybadass7722 good luck! Valve stems aren't very common on E70 S63 though, it's always or at least in most cases the CCV system or vacuum leaks that cause the blue smoke.
With the current market, I'd rather throw money into this and keep it until it dies!
@@E70MGarage yeah thats what I've been thinking I just ordered one of the cc breathers well see if it's possible getting overloaded with back pressure
There is discusisons about why the passnager side is not getting anything. The design of this year was that the crank case vacuum is connected both to the driver side valve cover and intake, whereas the passenger side is only to the valve cover to the intake. I am working on a split design, where its balanced like the F10 S63 and later models, so that the vacuum is balanced in the block, and also using aftermarket check vales. I messaged you on IG, let me know if you want to discuss..
Hey, I'd be interested to discuss. Will hit you back on IG.
Do this again in more detail please
Anything in particular that you are looking for?
It's "P"CV...Positive crankcase ventilation
Yep, you are correct. My apologies.
Are u in NYC. You are very detailed and know your bmw engine.
Thank you! I'm in DC.
@@E70MGarage Do you work on other people's vehicles than yours
how is this set up performing so far? Is there a way to delete all the check valve nonsense?? Can we route the hoses to each intake on its own with out the crossover pipe?
It's performed great but routing hoses to each bank works better (detailed video on that coming soon). Unfortunately, you can't remove the check valves - removing check valves will either create excessive pressure (on boost) and vacuum (on idle) which will cause gaskets to leak/fail prematurely.
Hi Could I have my catch cans are to high. They are higher then yours.also one on each side of the engine. Thanks again Mark
No, height does not have much to do with smoke. It's the checkvalves that cause PCV related smoke. There are 8 check valves in the system, 4 in the lines, and 4 on the oil separators that sit inside the valve covers. If you want to check the check valves, you can blow into them for each direction to see if they are working or not, and also, the orientation of the larger check valves (triangular shaped) matters, as gravity also plays a role in them functioning as intended.
Hi
I followed your instr uctions and still no shit in the catch can.
Do you think valves as you said
Thanks

Hey, it should only catch most of it in bank 2, bank 1 won't catch much. You'll see some after couple of 100 miles. If it doesn't smoke then your valves are good.
Hi
Can you buy the check valves by them selves.
Thanks mark
Hey - for the E70 S63, you cannot buy them separately. They come as part of the Intake Duct and are pretty pricey. I've been through 3 sets for various curiosity projects lol
I just clicked this and it you’ll probably explain this in the video, but why did you go to a catch can in the first place unless you’re running a serious stage setup?
BMW S63 is a direct injection motor. I went the catch can route to avoid further carbon build up on the valves. With the tight access, walnut blasting would require the motor to be out. I'm running stage 2+ making about 700 ponies.
What oil cap is that?
VTT Oil Cap - helps release pressure in the crankcase.
@@E70MGarage ok, I'm gonna buy the alliexpress version and compare it to the Vargas one. I'm sure they're the exact same part per usual.
@imSchwaggy I'm sure the VTT one is made in China too 😂 what did you end up buying?
@@E70MGarage directly from china lol. I looked at the pics same part. I almost paid $120 instead of $40.
Hi
Can i have your email address so i can send you pictures up my setup
Thanks again Mark
