- No, I cannot believe I am actually here... I was so nervous for this trip, but also incredibly excited. I have dreamed of visiting Massachusetts in the autumn for about a decade and I just can't believe it's actually now happening! I hope you enjoyed watching this first video of my trip :)
Also, you can probably tell, but I didn't film everything I did this trip, just snippets and days here and there.

đ How old are you? 22
đ What are you studying? I just finished studying English Literature at the University of Exeter. But we are students for life, and I hope that I will continue learning even though I am out of structured education.
đWhat are your favourite books? âą 200 book recommendatio...
đ Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!

I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. Ruby is so different to all the other youtubers on here. It's a breath of fresh air.
Ah thatâs very sweet of you to say! I do love that every single person on this app has a slightly different story and different perspective to share đ€

Indeed, Ruby is the type of role model that young people need today. Education and a future should be the first priority.
I totally (!!) agree. Iâm ten years older but can relate so so much. I love her content.
Ruby just brought the "doing stuff alone to show you it can be nice so you won't feel bad and anxious to do it alone too" genre to the next level.
Ruby, I am so glad that you had such a good time in and around Boston! You did choose a wonderful season to come to New England. I know that you are keen on Dickinson, Poe, and other American writers, so you chose an appropriate destination for a first visit.
I am also glad that you have begun your travels at a young age. How brave and exciting! I am an American, and it took me until my sixties (last month, in fact) to visit England (also on my own), where I've wanted to travel most of my life, and where I very much hope to visit again.
I spent time in London, Oxford, and Bath and enjoyed every minute of it. Climbing to the top of Primrose hill on a quiet morning; visiting the Vale of the White Horse in Uffington; pilgrimages to The Kilns and to Tolkien's grave; strolling the silent quadrangles of Magdelene College on a Sunday morning; getting a borrower's card at the British Library; touring the Roman baths at Aqua Sulis; catching a play with David Tennant on the spur of the moment; Much Ado at the Globe -- oh and visiting Daunt Books on your recommendation -- were some of the many highlights.
Come back to the States any time,
Steve Delchamps
Ohhh such a nice comment to seeâšïž
Sir,i love the way that you described your feelings clearly.
Stay safe.
I am so glad that you visited Bath as I live in Bath đ
As a Brit it makes me so happy to hear that you enjoyed visiting England †do come again, Iâm sure youâll enjoy it! I really want to go to Oxford for a few days with my family at some point
I must say I adore these longer travelling videos that give the âvagabond readerâ vibes. Iâve been watching ruby since my fourth form and am almost over with a levels. The format of the videos after your uni journey have such a ârubyâ essence to them which makes me really happy because theyâre true to how u are. The Scotland vlog is one of my favourite videos of rubyâs of all time and this is a quick favourite now too!!
I admire your courage to travel alone. I donât think I could ever do that, I get so anxious by myself in an unfamiliar environment. This vlog is lovely, the scenery is beautiful đ€©
I've learned the hard way that if you're going to wait for other people every time you want to do something/go somewhere, you'll often miss out.
Iâm a woman who has traveled solo a lot. Itâs great when you get used to it!
I feel like that too and I suffer with anxiety as well, but I hope one day I do so, because I want to get out of my comfort zone and try to face these fears! I hope we get to do that one day mate.
It can be part of the exhiliration of going alone - that thrill of "here I am on my own two feet, alone". It will be very rewarding if you take that step. Being nervous doesn't mean it's the wrong choice, or that you're not necessarily ready, because we're often nervous the first time we do something.
Iâve done it a few times for work and didnât like it. I like being alone but not for ex eating alone. And i think itâs nice when i have someone with me to share things with.
RUBY ALWAYS KNOWS HOW TO MAKE OUR DAY!!!!

ITS A PARK. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE. đ
By not reading or acknowledging the comments of her followers you mean? But for you guys she wouldnât have a CZcams channel. She has the means and support to live the dreamy very privileged comfortable protective bubble she lives in far far away from the every day person in the street she and you label her as different for a good reason.
I found myself in Boston for just a couple of days this August. It was incredibly misty, and it was the first time I found myself enjoying rain. I loved watching tall buildings disappear into a cloud above them. It was almost the most English of cities, in a way. There was just a great comfort to be felt as I was walking around. Glad you got to visit.
Yes! I love how the tops of buildings faded into invisibility! And I agree that itâs a very European city x
I loved the fact that you shared with us that you were scared the night before leaving but still went on the trip. I go through the same feeling when travelling alone â€
Hi, Ruby! I'm an English literature and composition teacher in the southeastern U.S. I just found your channel and really enjoy it! I'm from Boston, and I miss it every day. I can't wait to watch the entire video once my school day is over!
Fellow English lit teacher and former Boston resident! *tinks teacup*
I've never commented on a video before, but have watched your channel for years now. And as someone who lives in the Boston area, I can't begin to describe how wonderful it was to watch this video. I'm glad you're as much in love with Boston as I am, and appreciating all the wonderful things the city and surrounding areas have to offer. This just renewed my appreciation for where I live. Thank you for your beautiful content. â€
It's cool to see you're in America and travelling alone and enjoying yourself! From another female who travels the U.S. alone for a living, just always be aware of your surroundings, which it looks like you are. Having that whole beach to yourself looked amazing! And your room looked so nice too. I'm so glad you enjoyed Boston. Safe travels!
Dear Ruby I had a panic attack yesterday and got quite scared to go to sleep, I put on this video and it instantly calmed my nervous system down. I had vivid dreams of those places you visited throughout the night and it was the best kind of sleep I had in a long time - thank you for creating video art that is gentle, attentive and calming !đ
There is nothing more comforting than drinking a cup of tea, eating a fresh pastry and watching ruby frolic about Boston đ
Nice video! I think solo travel is always a nice way to grow more confident, no matter where you go. If it makes you nervous, it's probably a sign you should do it.
Ruby is my everyday inspiration. I literally wish to be her now and when I grow.. such a role model.
This video is what pure joy looks like. Thanks Rubyđ€
What an adventure! How nice of them to have rain for your first couple of days so youâd feel at home. Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you so much, Ruby! The last few vlogs have been incredible, can't wait to see more!
Can't wait to hear more Ruby ! Good luck
power to you, Ruby, for going on your own and having the kind of trip you want to have.
I live and work in the Boston area, and youâve captured our city so beautifully! This truly is the best time of year to visit New England. We actually have been in a pretty serious drought since spring, so it was ironic that you visited during the rainiest week weâd had in months. Thereâs so much more to see! If you really like the city, there are SO many colleges and universities where you could do graduate work. Best of luck in your next adventures solo traveling in the US!
Hopefully she can visit with more time next time, and maybe venture a bit further out from the immediate Boston area.
The rain was such a nice bonus for her!
I love grey, rainy daysâŠ!
Yeah have fun paying all those taxes up there too.
Your videos make my heart happy. Thank you Ruby!â€
Iâm so here for this !!!! Thank you Ruby !đ
Really loved this !!! So excited for the next part of your journey đ
I love the smell of nature when it rains and the colours that pop. The fog can give off an eerie vibe which I enjoy. Boston mustâve been an amazing place to visit.
Absolutely beautiful video! I love hearing you read your poetry and journal entries and talk about literature. You have so much joy in this video, and it's wonderful to see!
This is so therapeutic, after feeling immense burnout at school, this video comforted me. Thank you, Ruby!
Words canât describe how much I love your videosâ€
I loved hearing you read your poem! Safe travels and I so enjoyed this travel video!
Ruby†Iâm really impressed how youâre trying different things in different places, pushing your limits!
Iâve recently started watching your videos and they not only inspired me, but also i was extremely glad to find somebody similar to međ
I hope youâre doing well!
Love the adventures, love the scenery, the walks, the reads, everything is just so refreshing and having the vibes of what a travel tour should be! đ
Iâve watched you Ruby since you were sharing your exams at school. You gave me great advice for my daughter and Iâve been a fan since. Itâs so nice to see you come into your own but kept your core values. Iâm so excited for you x
It sounds like you had such a lovely trip Ruby! Little Women is my favorite book of all time, and ever since the 2019 film came out Iâve wanted to visit Boston, so it was amazing to see you visiting some of the locations. The beach looked so ethereal, peaceful, and special, and the Crane Estate was absolutely gorgeous. The leaves and nature are stunning! I hope you have a great rest of your trip and safe travels! Canât wait to see your work with the Emily Dickinson muesem. Thatâs so exciting! Thank you for the lovely content; youâre always so calming to watch! đđ
Wow I was truly breathless after this. Omw. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you, Ruby. đ„șđ€đ» Enjoy your stay in the states.
as someone whoâs lived in new england all their life, i always feel so lucky whenever fall comes around and the areaâs in its full glory⊠so glad you got to see it!
Ruby, thank you so much for such cozy vlog,I am myself fond of âliterary tripsâ and your videos are so comforting and inspiring for me đ€đ
Watching Ruby's vlog always gives me that kind of calmness
First off Ruby, welcome to America! we are most fortunate to have you. This video was exceptional. Your narrative and editing skills came through brilliantly! I have lived in America my whole life, yet it is you who pointed out the natural beauty of Massachusetts. I'm looking forward to seeing your next video. I do hope you get to see Orchard House. Louisa May Alcott has always been one of my favorite authors as a kid. Have fun and safe travels!
Overwhelmed by the beauty - indeed. Thank you so much for this perspective on America. Never saw it in these colours. May you have a guardian angel everywhere you go.
i watched your video to start off my morning and it genuinely set the precedent for the rest of my day. i felt so calm, refreshed, and inspired. i live in cambridge and work and study in boston and this was a much needed reminder of how beautiful this place is, especially from the perspective of an outsider. thank you so much for sharing your trip, this video really moved and inspired me â€ïž you really are a breath of fresh air!
Seeing you in Boston is so nice †Iâve never been but it truly looks incredible. So happy you can make memories like this
One of my favorite all-time Ruby videos!!! Can't wait to see the Amherst video :)
You are just so endearing. Thank you for wholesome, inspiring content
What is beautiful, cozy little video! Boston in the Fall looks like a dream, I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing your other adventures in America!
I love your videos, they're so cozy and comforting!
I understand Ruby's enthusiasm in going to the iconic places where her favorite writers lived and wrote...but I also worry about her going on walks all by herself. Stay safe and be careful young Ruby, we enjoy your vlogs and live vicariously thru them, but being so young, it would be so much better, I dare say to have your dad or mum with you. God Bless, you are such a sweet girl.
Iâm so happy for you having made this experience.
Oh wow, Boston looks stunning! What an amazing trip. Canât wait to see what you make of Amherst đ
Aw, I love how you captured my home state. I grew up near Ipswich and went to college in Amherst, so this is all lovely to watch through someone elseâs eyes. When you come back to Boston, consider timing it with the Boston Book Festival. Itâs a great day of author panels and intellectual energy. Cheers
Ruby what a wonderful adventure! Iâm so loving seeing the U.S. through the lens of your camera! Stay safe & enjoy every second....â€ïžđŠđșđŠđŠđș
This was lovely! Looking forward to more vlogs.
I've been waiting for you to come to America for so long and I'm happy you got the opportunity to come! I really want to visit Boston someday, so this was a lovely video! Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year because of the colorful leaves. I hope you enjoy your time in the states :)
Hello Ruby! I am following you for quite some time and I really, really love your videoâs! Thanks for all those lovely moments because it is very important for me!
ruby!!! i've been following you since 2017, and you've finally made it to my home state! YAY! so so happy that you loved boston; we were incredibly lucky to have you here :)
I watched a lot of videos in this channel, but this last one is the best for me, there is something different about it, it is charming.
Ruby, I am so so proud of you. I know I don't know you but I feel emotional watching this. This is my dream trip to go on after university, especially for my writing degree. I think this is my favourite video you have ever uploaded.đ„șâ€
your videos never fail to comfort me

Omgg I've been waiting all day today for a video from you to come out your video makes me chill uhhh can't describe how much I love themđŠđđwish you a very beautiful safe trip rubyy!!đ„ș
Enjoy your time there, Ruby! It sounds all so interesting!
It just made me so happy to see you having the time of your life!! Especially at Crane Beach and the Estate. What a lovely time you must have had đ
Thanks for making these videos btw. I suffer a lot from chronic stress, and your videos are really calming to watch. I helps me breath. So, thanksâ€
Oh my.. such a beautiful vlog. Thank you for posting your experience. It is a breath of fresh air both for you and us, your viewers.
Ahh Iâm so pleased you liked it đ€
Well done, Ruby! Travelling by yourself can be a scary thing - especially when you are visiting another country. It looks like a lovely trip. I hope you enjoyed our country!
It's not unusual to spend $20 on a new book, that's why used bookstores are soooo needed here in the US!
I am a bit confused, though, because it sort of feels like the prices aren't that different once the exchange rate is taken into account? 17 USD is really not that much more than 12 GBP, whereas Ruby seemed shocked that a book that she said would be ÂŁ12 at home was $17 there.
I have to agree with what someone already said here - I admire you, Ruby, for your courage to travel alone so for away from your homeland. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Based solely on the excerpts of your writing shared here, and the way you describe where you're at, I cannot wait to read your book. You put things so beautifully.
love love love this video, Ruby!
So glad you got here before all the leaves fell. Sadly you missed the peak of leaf season when the colors were even more incredible, but glad you caught the tail end!
This was so lovely to watch!! I just got back yesterday from a 5 day trip to Boston and it was so fun to see that you went to some of the same places!!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful adventure,so helpful!
Hello Ruby. Iâve been watching your channel for a while now. I really do love your content. Your videos are long and relaxing to see. Thank you for inspiring me to start my own. I even have your notifications on đ
So exciting that you're in the States for a few weeks! I've never been. I think it's great that you're doing it. Your videos are always wonderfully curated, I don't think people realise how much effort it takes, and I'm not sure why some commenters feel the need to be mean x
I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip to Boston, Ruby and it was lovely to watch your appreciation. of the autumnal weather and scenery in the park. But I wouldn't want your young and impressionable fan base who are interested in visiting Boston to see literary sites to be mislead by the suggestion that there isn't much to see beyond the statue of Poe and a few bookshops. Boston has one of the richest literary heritages in the USA - the public library is both a stunning (and aesthetic!) building and an historical treasure trove for anyone seriously interested in literary history; there are many possible walking tours around districts such as Beacon Hill which visit homes of many famous writers and poets such as Thoreau, Hawthorne, Henry James, Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath and, of course, Louisa May Alcott. [ironically, as you know, Poe was born in Boston but left as a toddler and his writing barely influenced by the city]. As in London, Charles Dickens got around and stayed at several addresses in Boston during his American tours, but you can see his chair and the mirror in front of which he rehearsed his public readings at the Omni Parker Hotel. I'm sure there are many other literary sites I have missed.
PS Crane House looked very atmospheric in your footage.
Wish you a happy trip ruby đ€đ
The Harvard Art Museum is a real gem off the Boston tourist path. I am so glad you found it too!
Hey Ruby! Just wanted to let you know that you're succchhhh an inspiring person for literally all of us from unmotivated community (lol). Whenever I start procrastinating, i just come to your channel and binge watch your videos to feel motivated again! Your whole life seems so aesthetic and calming that it makes me wanna just move in countryside. Just keep going, good luckđ
Very charming vlog, well done - Iâm glad you enjoyed your first week. I was feeling bad for the rain but it did give you the fog, and added color as you said - looking forward to the next installment in Amherst, having seen glimpses on IG - take care and thanks for these charming videos
I love this video so much; thank you Ruby xx
Just loved this! Iâm here in Virginia- my heritage from Ireland and England and Scotland all arrived in Boston. It is one of my favorite coyotes. So enjoy following your travels.
Such a wonderful video! I work in Ipswich and grew up north of there, so itâs wonderful seeing you enjoy it! I hope you have a wonderful time during the rest of your trip!
No way! Ahh I loved it there so much! Everyone was so friendly!
Oh Ruby. So glad you visited my area and reminded me of the beauty I see every day when I commute to Cambridge. But you really must visit Concord. When I heard in your first video that you were in MA, I thought, "surely she is in Concord." You will love it. I still do after 25 years of living here. I long to see England and all its beauty, but I thank you again for making me lift my eyes to the sky on my morning commute.
What a brilliant adventure. Loved the video- your videos have inspired me to read so much more again, and this comes from an ex-bookseller and ex-bookshop owner! So, thank you and keep on being Ruby!
Ahh Emm! This is so so wonderful to hear đ„șđ„°

I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here in Boston. The Public Garden is also one of my most favorite spots. I visited there in October 2019 when I decided to move here. Fall is truly magical. You're going to love western Massachusetts next!
I started watching your Oxford video recently because I enjoy visiting all the libraries with you. But so nice to see you seeing my home!
Ruby, this is such a beautiful video and you seem so happy †going on your own is very brave but I imagine very fulfilling and you were able to get a more memorable and personal experience that way. I've never been to Boston (or Massachusetts for that matter) but I live on that side of the continent lol but in Canada so the colours look similar to what we're experiencing right now, so gorgeous and where you visited looks incredibly magical đđ
OMG, you really are in America! Have fun, Ruby!
This was so interesting to watch. I have watched you for a long time now, and am from MA. It is so cool seeing you explore a place I have always been inl
I'm from India, and it's almost 11pm, and your video is thehighlight of my day. Thank you so much for inspiring me!!
ahh you're so lovely! I'm so pleased you liked the video and I hope you had a good night's sleep (by the time you read this!)
you skipping any jumping about on the beach is something I would do too, itâs such a freeing feeling! That really put a smile on my face đ„°
Lovely vlog, as always! I hope you are enjoying your time here in the States.
Thank you! Iâm so pleased you liked it!
