The Duke of Wellington was nowhere near the level of Napoleon and he was fully aware of it. He didn't ''beat Napoleon at his own game'' he got saved by the Prussian army at the last moment even though he started the battle of Waterloo with every advantage imaginable. But once again, he knew that, he had a statue of Napoleon in his house and said that Napoleon on his worst day was still better than him on his best day. So Wellington absolutely would want Napoleon to be much more famous than him, he seemed to be his biggest fan.

He didn’t have every advantage at the start. He had a smaller army and not as well trained troops(for the most part) and also worse artillery. Main advantage was his defensive positions which he utilized well. He didn’t beat napoleon on his own game but he made napoleon fight another game
Still I agree that napoleon is better overall. That doesn’t make Wellington anywhere near bad though
@@thurbine2411 Not as well-trained troops really? The average age in the french army during the Battle of Waterloo was 16. That's all Napoleon could muster, an army of teenagers, he had some part of his old guard left with him but that's about it. All of Napoleon's best soldiers died in Russia. And by Wellington's own admission, they were minutes away from total defeat when the Prussians arrived.
I really don't know what's with the British insistence that Wellington himself was somehow wrong about his own skills or Napoleon's skills.

0:00 As a palaeo graduate, I gotta speak up here. Lasting millions of years isn't that crazy. And saying sharks and crocs are the same as they were way in the past is ridiculous. Colloquially, we may call things sharks and crocodiles that are far from being the actual thing, yet. Especially the crocodile line changed A LOT, well after first looking like a crocodile. In fact, there were crocodile looking creatures well before the dino/croc-split. So that meme is wrong in more than one way.

@@nikoloso they most certainly are(im talkinga about large sharks, like great whites, tiger sharks etc.), without taking account humans, they have basically no real enemies except the occasional orca. I wont deny that orcas sometimes hunt sharks, but having one natural enemy doesnt mean they are not apex predators, i would still call spotted hyenas apex predators even though they get bodied by male lions, both the amazon and the african sahara (and some other places) represent ecosystems where there are multiple apex predators, even though some get more bullied then others.
