Baby Romper Cutting and Stitching | DIY Baby Ruffled Romper/Dungree Dress Cutting and Stitching
Hello, DIY enthusiasts! Welcome back to our channel. Today, I’m going to guide you through the process of cutting and stitching a beautiful ruffled romper for your adorable little one. So, grab your materials and let’s get started!
[Step 1: Materials]
Before we dive into the fun part, let’s make sure we have all the materials we need:
• Fabric of your choice
• Scissors
• Sewing machine (or needle and thread)
• Elastic
• Pins
• Measuring tape
[Step 2: Taking Measurements]
First things first, let’s take some measurements to ensure a perfect fit for your baby. Measure their chest, waist, hip, and the desired length for the romper.
[Step 3: Cutting the Fabric]
Once you have your measurements, it’s time to cut the fabric. Use your measuring tape and mark the measurements onto the fabric, leaving some extra allowance for seams. Cut out the pieces for the front, back, and ruffles according to the measurements.
[Step 4: Sewing the Main Pieces]
Now, let’s start sewing the main pieces together. Place the front and back pieces right sides together and sew along the sides. Then, finish the edges with a zigzag stitch to prevent fraying.
[Step 5: Adding the Ruffles]
Time to add some flair with ruffles! Cut out strips of fabric for the ruffles and hem one edge. Then, gather the other edge by sewing a basting stitch and pulling the thread to create ruffles. Pin and sew the ruffles onto the front piece of the romper, starting from the top and working your way down.
[Step 6: Creating the Leg Openings]
To make the leg openings, fold and sew along the bottom edge of the romper legs. Then, fold and sew a small hem to create a clean finish.
[Step 7: Inserting Elastic]
Next, it’s time to insert elastic into the waist and leg openings. Measure and cut the elastic according to your baby’s measurements, then use a safety pin to guide the elastic through the casing you created earlier. Sew the ends of the elastic together securely.
[Step 8: Finishing Touches]
Lastly, give your romper a final once-over, trimming any loose threads and making sure all seams are secure. And voila! Your DIY baby ruffled romper is ready to make a fashion statement.
