One take, reading the lyrics off her phone and killing it. Angelina at her best and nobody matches her for the emotion she brings to music. Even Ivan struggles to concentrate on his playing.
Her cute little "bye" with a big smile and wave at the end of songs is almost a deliberate "ok guys, the sad song is done, C'mon back to our pleasant reality now! I don't want to leave you in a black depression!"
Here is what I have decided: Angelina, has, no, age. She is eternal.
Angelina is a Siren calling us all onto the shores of emotion.
Schnell in my opinion Angelina's voice is the most emotional, soulful voice of my lifetime. While soul singers touch your soul, Angelina's voice envelops your soul in a warm loving embrace. Angelina was 12 here and that was a difficult year, losing her grandpa, her friend Avicii and one of her idols Aretha Franklin and she did a tribute to each. But I don't believe the tremendous emotion in her voice came from her present life experience but rather she was born with it. I need to be a poet to have any chance to properly describe how special Angelina is. We are lucky to be alive at the same time as Angelina Jordan.

Schnell you really need to checkout her cover of “Always on my mind” but your going to need tissues. Very emotional performance she did for her late grandfather.
Yeah that one brings me tears every time. It's certainly not technically perfect but it's as emotionally powerful as can be.
Angelina is the only young voice out there (among the many talented) that has the heart, and soul, plus enormous range, and talent to bring back Jazz and oldies. Such as: "I'm Sorry" by Brenda Lee "It's only make believe" by Conway Twitty "Love is a many Splendored thing" by Andy Williams,etc. Angelina is also the only young singer age 10/14 who has a fantastic fan base of older adults age 30 thru late 80's. She is the only one who could pull this off. Angelina. if you are watching these comments, please do not let Republic Records lead you down the path to strictly pop garbage. You are too good for that. We love you just the way you sing now. You are unique,never forget that.
the combination of her vocal texture and her timing, just draws out the emotion. Just think......she was just 11 years old when she made that video. That is almost beyond belief for a girl that young to have such a level of musical intelligence and quality

One of the remarkable things about Angelina is how with each and every song (cover or original) she manages to reach in and move hearts. POINT ON BEAUTIFUL SCHNELL. As one of the NGT's judges said, when she sings, she doesn't think she feels. That's so true and she just pulls you in when you're listening and you feel her soul coming through to you and you are HOOKED. She does a few other Adelle covers and they're all beautiful. I've listened to this one more times than I could count and it still blows me a away that it's a 12 year old singing this. She is able to convey so much emotion when she sings that it just pulls you in and holds you there for a couple minutes. If your favorite setup is a guitar and singer, then Angelina has many that you are going to love. When you look at the videos on her cover channel, look for any video you see with this guitarist (Ivan) or the other guitarist (Egil) in the thumbnail. All of those are going to be good. I especially recommend "stay", "the first time ever I saw your face", "make you feel my love" (just to name a few).
Hello Rusty. I've listened to this song up and down a number of times and every time I start crying. I've already written that she should do a mini concert with a maximum of 150 people in a small hall, with a guitarist and a piano. Especially these small concerts, of which I have already participated in quite a few, including the "big ones", are the best there are. There is always a great atmosphere. And with Angelina right now.

@@zulax001 well, I don’t know why you would want to limit it to a small venue. The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles is a perfect venue for Angelina and a guitar and or a piano. It could be the sight of her first live performance in the US!
Thank you, Schnell, for another great Angelina reaction. Wasn't that breathtaking (no pun intended)? She has a few masterpieces and, IMHO, this is one of them. The C#3 she hits gets me every time. In "Unchained Melody", she hits a G5. A 2-1/2 octave range for a girl her age is pretty impressive. May I request that you react to Angelina singing "Every Time We Say Goodbye", the Cole Porter classic that Ella Fitzgerald recorded in 1956? The purity of Angelina's voice with very little ornamentation is astounding. She was 11. Breathy head voice. That's another of her unique skills. Can't remember if I've ever heard that from anyone else.
You're right. You have a lot to discover and you'll continue to be amazed by her. IMO you still haven't heard many of her best performances which you probably find hard to believe. The guitarist is Ivan Mendez and she has him playing on several of her covers. If you are interested in hearing more of him, for example he plays guitar for her on ALWAYS ON MY MIND which is another heart wrenching performance from her. I think you have officially fallen into the Angelina rabbit hole. Enjoy.

The songs that Angelina sings during these guitar sessions with Ivan Mendez (when she is in LA) and Egil Clausen (when she is in Norway) are not planned in advance- they get together and decide what song to sing, sometimes without Ivan or Egil even familiar with the song! And it is usually done in one take (interviews with Ivan and Egil)!

Her breathiness is one technique out of many that she can use to add emotion to these songs. I'm sure you will continue to react (or just listen) to Angelina. For time travel worthy vocal fry, check out the Etta James cover, I'd Rather Go Blind . For smooth Ella Fitzgerald jazz, check out Every Time We Say Goodbye. Always on My Mind will hit the tear glands. Summertime (on NGT at 8) is Dinah Washington good. Her tribute to Aretha in Natural Woman is subtle and sweet. Her arrangement of California Dreamin is more poignant and full of regret than the original....and on and on. Keep them coming.
My favorite instruments are baritone sax, mandolin, banjo and fiddle/violin. I mostly go to bluegrass shows (when the world was saner), but Angelina is above all my other likes. Her voice is my favorite instrument of all

The emotion angelina puts into this left me speechless. I am just in awe of her ability to portray such conviction in every word she sings. You can't help but feel the emotion of the song with her. I hope she has as much success as she can possibly get.
A great review of this, one of my favourite Angelina performances. The guitarist is Ivan Mendez who Angelina performs with when she is in L.A.. I think Ivan toured with Angelina in South America too. Some of Angelina's best performances are with Ivan and her Norwegian guitarist Egil Clausen. Angelina really shines when performing with a simple backing, guitar or piano. Ivan has his own YT channel and can sing very well himself.

Angelina is now almost 15, she has grown to be 6 ft tall, and has signed a major recording contract with Republic Records.
I don’t know what it is about her voice. Just about any song she sings makes me cry a good cry. Not many things in life does this to me . My heart is somehow in line with the tone of her voice. The sound of her voice is so soothing and hypnotic that my mind goes to places in my past. Some memories are sorrowful and painful and just by listening to her angelic voice some how makes everything better and replaces them with joy and happiness. The REAL Jan Akkerman? If so; your drummer Pierre Van Der Linden has still remained one of my top 10 drummers, ALL TIME! Those first 3 Albums, and some of the 1971/1973 live recordings i've heard, showed me he was ahead of his time, and to this day i haven't quite figured out some of the drum solo stuff he did on that 46 minute "live" Eruption and Anonymous II You also are in my top 10 all time guitar players. The solo record and "Eli" with Kaz Lux were fantastic!

Is it just me, or does anyone else's brain crash at the end. I almost always am quite teary eyed by the time the song ends and then Angelina pops up with that big smile and waves, "Bye."
I come from the UK, I have never heard a child singer sing with so much emotion, it is such a refreshing and beautiful sound that Angelina produces, I am told that she sings barefoot, when she was younger she saw a young girl without any shoes and she offered this young girl hers, her heart is in the right place, I always love to hear and see the reactions as now I am a fan

When you've heard each of Angelinas videos several thousand times you can actually get emotional just thinking about them. Sometimes at work I tear up playing this song and video back in my memory...luckily I run the machine in the corner of the factory and can pretend I've got crap in my eye..!
