    I'm from Cebu, and everything are limited from water, electricity, food, fuel, network, even if you going to withdraw money it's limited. But everything happens for a reason. We will rise again Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Negros and Siargao and many places hit by this super typhoon. God is always with us.

    Went from a Tropical depression to a cat 5 typhoon in a blink of an eye.. It was a Tropical depression then the power was out, didn't know it was a typhoon cat 5 until the next day. It caught everyone off guard.

      Here in Bacolod it was at first cat 2 then an hour or two later it was cat 4, our electricity is back but still a lot of damage, but the city manage to clean up the mess the typhoon made, our neighbor cities, provinces in himamaylan and kabankalan homes have been flooded and destroyed, and I heard it will take months for power to go back and they badly needed water and supplies

    I can talk until I'm blue in the face about how strong storms are, but that is nothing compared to actual video showing damage and emotion like this. These videos help more than you think, first to get the word out to a broader international audience and second to help show people who may be staring down a typhoon in the future what they might expect.

      The funny thing is, as an island in the Pacific, the Philippines is used to typhoons. We get 20-30 in a year, and November-March is the worst. But nothing ever prepares you for it. Typhoons like Odette come maybe every six years or so, and people get complacent.

    • @LootGoblin4510
      @LootGoblin4510 Před 2 lety +3

      @@beadenise , I am surprised that a lot of the homes don't have storm shutters on the windows, so if anything gnarly approaches they just close and latch them, windows etc are pretty well protected then, but I suppose the cost is a major factor, but if you look at the cost to replace windows and damage to property and the clean up inside it has to be factored in.. even if they made them out of ply and on cabinet hinges, the protection afforded could be a major difference to the damage done..

    Your video documentation from few days before the landfall down to the actual ravaging of Odette on the island up to the hour the eye of the typhoon was finally gone , made us digitally experience also the wrath of Odette.
    It was scary seeing it in video but i think it was doubly frightening on the ground in actual. Appreciate your efforts to record it (even risking your safety) for everyone to see ... thanks.
    The next episodes would be the clean up and picking up the pieces and the start of rebuilding .

      People from remote areas are mostly in the poverty level, they can't afford to follow building code regulations and definitely modern construction materials. The only solution IMO is the government providing housing for the poor, particularly in the remote areas with no job opportunities unless they can relocate in the big islands they have no means of income, completely relying on fishing and farming to survive.

    Glad to see that you're all ok. Super typhoons are scary especially when you're in the middle of the storm.
    Please do an update on the guy who owned the bubble tea shop. I hope he is doing well. It's so sad that this happened during the Christmas time but knowing pinoys, they always have smiles despite all the devastation. We've raised funding to be sent to devastated areas to help families and animals rescue groups.
    Buildings can be rebuilt and businesses can start up again but lives are the most important. Typhoons, hurricanes and monsoons are no joke. I've had my fair share when we lived in Asia and the Caribbean when I was a child. Then when Sandy hit NYC. I'm surprised pinoys don't board up their windows to prevent glass from breaking and injuring occupants. Anyway, never underestimate a storm especially when you're on an island. They're unpredictable and even storm surges are not to be underestimated. Foreigners wanting to live in the Philippines have to keep in mind that the country sits on the typhoon belt and typically gets 20 a year. Then add the ring of fire and being an archipelago. It'll only get worse because of global warming. Extreme weather events and other climate impacts are getting more severe. We can't prevent natural disasters but we can certainly be better prepared.

    My Story. We have a Booking which is paid. Reservations and Trips are paid also, Hotel and Resort plus foods are paid also. We have a paid booking flight to siargao via Philippine Airlines. We gone shopping for items and outfits also. All are prepared. Until i get admitted to hospital due to blood infection which is gladly i recover faster than i thought. Same date and time of our flight i got admitted. During my admittion, I've watched the news how devastating it is, also on social media, I've seen raw footages and photos. I cried. That's why even we can refund the money that time, we didn't and we donated. What i read to the bible that give what you can, it can make a huge change. Praying for this Beautiful place to recover soon. It might not fast, but slowly and surely. Thanks for Everything who donated. Thanks man, you did a great job, becareful and keep safe.

    It reminds me here in Hk I told my employer looks like there are people on the bridge in the beach and then it shows in the news after. when these 2 or 3 ladys went to the beach to see how the storm numbers 9 hits the sea shore then it happened they stock up in there at the bridge, and need help to get out because the water getting higher and stronger waves. Luckily their saved.

    I am so sorry to have met you under such adverse conditions. I don’t even know your name, as this is the first video I have seen of yours. I am so sorry that your beautiful island paradise was so horrendously ravaged by this super typhoon. I learned of your island just this week, as another creators video came up while they were prepping for the storm. It is such an incredibly beautiful island, I can see why you have settled there. I do not know if you are a native Filipino, or a transplant from somewhere else. Regardless, I will be following your story and sharing your story with anyone who will listen. I will try to donate, if at all possible. In the past few days prior to the storm, I feel that I have met so many interesting people who have settled on your island that I have never even heard of. I will say a prayer for your future, and another one for the immediate future which will be most certainly difficult. I wish that your recovery will be swift and that you may return to the beautiful life you created for yourselves on that most incredible island. 🙏🏻☮️❤️🌈🌦⛅️☀️
