- 4Runner Camping in a SNOW STORM (no heater). I spent a night solo winter camping in my 4runner during a snow storm. The temperature got down to 0F (or -17.7C) degrees windchill and the snow just kept falling. I forgot to fill my heater with fuel so I had to go without a heater. Wasn't too bad but it was a lot less comfortable that normal.
The gear I used:
The Sleeping Bag: amzn.to/3GxT7yo
The Heater: amzn.to/3onz2EA
The Axe: amzn.to/3ujq9jc
The Power: amzn.to/3L4wo0l
The Tent: gofastcampers.com/

Love making these, hope you guys like them as well. Should I keep doing these through the summer?
Very much appreciated your channel is great, thx for bringing your new videos, I have recently retired from truck driving and I'll be out there somewhere doing what your doing brah, hope to cross paths someday 👍🤙👊
@@chriskenmotsu9 Yeah let me know if you're ever in the area. Also I've been wanting to ask a truck driver (or retired) do you guys actually also use the diesel heaters in the rigs or is that just something the heater companies try to sell you on them with?
@@OXFOOT it comes with the truck, it's called a wersbo heater, we use it alot in the winter
Yes keep doing them. Looks like Vedauwoo up here in Wyoming. All that granite makes for good camping!! Do be too hard on yourself about the fuel it happens to everyone haha. Thank you!
Oh and props for the Wyoming sticker on the liftgate 👍👍👍
Watching this makes me miss winter already. Felt like it went by so quickly this year.
Yeah I feel that. I got about half the snowboarding in this year than I did last year. It’s still cold in the mountains but it was like 65 today at my house.
@@OXFOOT I am currently in Albuquerque New Mexico and the first day of spring was dumped with snow. I was teased because immediately by noon, the snow had all melted and it temperatures went up to the high 60s 🥲
@@francisngo yeah it’s been pretty similar to that here. It’ll snow and then melt and then repeat that process for a few days. Denver gets like that right now but the mountains still have decent winter going right now.
I love this video. Super jealous of the snow camping. I hit up Wisconsin a few weeks ago and we got some freezing rain, but not quite the same. I had the opposite problem you did though. I went without a heater, expecting to use some hot hands and a wool blanket and then a buddy had an extra diesel heater and he literally changed my life. I ordered one as soon as I got back, haha. Now I'll make sure to bring fuel next time I use it!
Yeah it’s the easiest thing to do when I pack but just gotta remember to actually fill it up. I’ll have a few more trips where I’ll need a heater and soon enough it’ll be warm again.
Enjoyed the video! Esp when I’m all snuggled in bed for the nite. Your meal looked fantastic. Ya need a dog for those winter runs.🔥🔥🔥❄️🌨❄️🙋♀️🙏🏻
Well I have a dog but he doesn’t do well in the winter. Short fur. He’s actually my gfs dog but maybe I’ll have him join me and make him some steak. And thanks!
Y’all catch the clone in this one? I’m going to keep doing them in every episode.
I thought I was seeing things at first…lol.👀
@@renitabloyd7688 lol, I’m probably going to do one in every video as an Easter egg.
Great video. Thanks for taking us along
Thanks! Always appreciate feedback, especially when’s it’s positive!
Spectacular views but looks pretty cold there, keep warm and stay safe also safe travels brah 👍🤙👊
It’s slowly starting to warm up here. I love camping in the winter by myself but I think the summer camping with friends is a bit more fun. Thanks, state safe as well!
Wow, what a nice trip! Love the rooftop tent. It's a bummer you forgot the fuel, it must've been tough sleeping in a cold tent.
Yeah it was still pretty cold even with my bag but I think I’m starting to get used to camping in the freezing cold… right as soon as it starts getting warmer.
So nice. Thank you
No problem! Thanks for the feedback!
So beautiful! Good stuff buddy!
Thanks! Really appreciate it!
Love it brother !
Thanks! Appreciate it. I want to get back into doing more vlogs here soon.
Yes, you should keep doing them through the summer. That being said, I dig camping when it's snowing and solo on top of that. Bummer about the heater, bet that made it interesting. Sleeping inside my 4Runner, I never have to worry about that.
Yeah that is really an upside to the whole back of the 4Runner thing. Just pop the heat on. I guess I always have the option if I get too cold to run down there and turn it on but for the most part I didn’t feel too bad in my sleeping bag.
A little tossing and turning while getting warm but mostly got decent sleep.
Cool! I really enjoyed a Lot!
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback!
Beautiful relaxing video, i wish if it was little longer. And i think it would be great if you make a video about your car how you prepare what’s your gear…
You know… I considered stringing all my winter camping videos together and cutting out the talking and reuploading.
The foggy background is so aesthetic!
Yeah it made for a really cool experience. Ready for that warm weather camping soon though.
Great video ...
Thanks, the “…” part makes me think this is an ironic comment though
FYI for any newbie in Colorado's high country. If you get too high in the mountains and plan to cook something with boiling water, like noodles, be advised that your water may not get hot enough to boil your water using briquettes or certain soft wood. TIP: Bring a little white gas burner. Much easier. Ask me how I know. My noodles sank to the bottom of the pot and congealed into one globy noodle and yes I did try to eat it, after many beers didn't seem so bad and I got a big laugh to myself about it.
Yeah luckily this wasn’t super high elevation. I think a jetboil is in the works for me in the future. Possibly an offbrand if I can find a good one.
Let's Go!!!
Hell yeah!!
Awesome
Thanks!
Smooth
Thanks!
Great video! I traded my sr5 tacoma in for a 4runner recently, ive decided to start traveling and camping with my 4runner only. I currently live in florida and I was curious on how you combat rust when driving in the northern states. My 4runner came from Wisconsin and had 11k miles on it...however ive already found 3 screws in the engine bay that had surface rust...thankfully nowhere else. Thank you for any imput!
I haven’t had that issue as bad up here as I wash my underside religiously. But keeping an eye on it is really important in preventing it from getting worse. Surface rust is luckily easy to combat. You can just remove the rust and cover it with a new coating. I’d check to see how much that is nearby to do but you can probably do it yourself pretty easy.
Nice video!
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback!
Awesome content. Very jealous wish I could get into overlanding.
What’s stopping you? Time? Money? You could get into it with an old forester and a Coleman sleeping bag.
@@OXFOOT totally agree just have to take the plunge I guess. What started all this recent curiosity is I’ve always been a fan of 4RUNNERs and camping. Just found a sweet deal on a ‘22 although it’s just a 7passenger SR5. We’ll see where this goes I guess. In the meantime I’ll keep watching you LOL.
Enjoyed the video but I am ready for things to warm up. Tip I learned is if things are freezing up put water in your pot the night before. Allows you to melt it in the pot on the stove/fire.
I got a little taste of it warming up today. I think it’s supposed to go back to cold for a few more weeks. I love the winter camping and all that but I do miss the warmer weather and not having to bring my -30 bag with me just to stay warm.
Yeah that’s a good idea too. What I did a few trios ago was boiling water, putting it in my Nalgene to keep me warm at night and then by the morning it was a mild temp and ready to melt in the morning.
Ready to boil* not melt
Kiełbasa 😍
The potatoes were a bit undercooked but the sausage was so good out there.
@@OXFOOT I'm from Poland, I am the kiełbasa expert :)
Good
Thank you!
Are you in Northern Cali? Looks like the Sierra Mtns, I am in Reno..... Great vids!
I’m actually in Colorado. In the snow the mountains look pretty similar but I think each range has its advantages and share of great views. Some of northern Cali puts Colorado to shame.
You should do a walk around of the t4R
I have one coming right after one more big change coming in the next two weeks.!
🔥🔥🔥

beautiful 4Runner, I'm planning on buying one for overlanding but not sure if its too hardcore for an overlanding person lol
So I have been to some decent offroad rock crawling stuff in mine but I’m much more of the car camping guy who occasionally Offroads. I would say if you are just driving down forest service roads to camp then maybe it’s overkill. I think you can get a lot done in let’s say a forester or crosstrek if you don’t need something too hardcore.
Great vid!Really beautiful scenery! No knocking on you,but try a cutting board and don’t use a good knife you want to keep sharp to cut anything on steel.Fastest way to a ruined blade.
Yeah I just ordered a bunch of new knives so this one is my back up now. I have a cutting board/strainer that I use but at the time I just went with this method. Normally I would use my cutting board.
@@OXFOOT I figured this-it was more for the masses who would do this and think nothing of it-you don’t build a truck like you have and get out there and do these things without this knowledge.Be well!
@@irishdefense77 for sure. I think I might be including more cooking stuff because people seem to like that part. I’m not a top tier cook by any means but when I go more into that direction I’ll be using actual cutting boards and stuff to show how to do it correctly.
@@OXFOOT I would love that-love to see cooking in the backcountry! Many people will watch for that..
A man and his 4Runner
That’s all I really need camping. Me and my 4Runner ha.
Better than the last one
Thanks! I think so too. Had a lot more fun with this one.

Thanks! 🙌 🙌 🙌
What's the best way you've found to transport fuel (for the heater)? Outside (rotopax)? top off the heater and store inside the cab? Just curious and thanks in advance.
Rotopax would be a good way to do it. So far my way has been to keep the fuel level below 75% so it doesn’t spill out. The stand I made for the heater keeps it pretty level.
Why the boots outside in the snow ? That doesn’t make any sense..
They had mud and I forgot my boot bag. That’s really just out of pure laziness. They were surprisingly not full of snow in the morning though.
Doh!!!
Yeah it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’d still much rather have the diesel heater.
What kind of suspension do you have on you 4runner? Loving it
It’s kind of a mixed bag at the moment but I’m about to switch some stuff up. Started with a full Icon stage 3 I believe, traded out the rear shock for bilsteins, upper control arms are now SPC and then my Coilovers are just a pro lift with a spacer because the hiem joint on my icon Coilovers blew out. The Coilovers are something I’m going to replace soon.
Очень круто 👍 машина очень хорошая
Spot #11 been there a few times...
Damn you got me lol
I like that area for winter camping. Not real chance of getting stuck out there.
What axe is that?
It’s a Fiskars 3.8lb felling axe. It’s a fiberglass handle and it’s really light and easy to swing.
Well at least you have the car heater😄
Yeah worst case I could make my self warm but I think I’m starting to get used to the cold weather camping at this point. Heaters are just a bonus now.
@@OXFOOT thanks for the video
@@HotRod-wv4vm Thanks for watching!
Where was that ??
I can’t remember the exact name but it’s like headed south from pine Colorado. Not far from goose creek.
what model is your suv sir?.
It is a 5th generation Toyota 4Runner. Similarl to the Lexus GX aka the Toyota Prado but with a 4.0 V6 engine rather than a 4.7 V8 that the Prado/ Land Cruiser’s have.
@@OXFOOT cool…😍
15.07 There's alot of snow there to heat up and turn into water instead of using bottled water. Just saying 😂😁🤭 makes me wonder aye.
Makes you wonder what?
Yeah I could in theory do that but I’d rather use stuff I know that animals haven’t peed on and stuff like that. If I was more desperate I’d likely do that.
👍👍👍
