Gambler is the final Madonna reissue from Rhino/Warner in 22.
This is really cool to hear. I always assumed she didn’t like this song, which is why it was hard to get. It’s one of her all time best, in my opinion.

My favorite Madonna song ever. So different, so energertic and with pretentious and outrageous lyrics, so Madonna, ahah. Only her could sing that, all the other singers of her generation wouldn't dare (You're just jealous 'cos you can't be me). I loved it then and I still love it today. This song is unique and so underrated. I wish it would get the place it truly deserved but it's not on any Madonna album or compilation. So unfair. But it's like a secret gem, that only we, real Madonna fans, know about. I love it. But that's part of what makes it special too in a way. :)
I found the CD soundtrack to the movie years ago at a thrift store. I was so thrilled to get this track!
I was entering teenage when this came out and she became famous. My generation would remember this track which had quite a bit of success even in Europe. But it's true that Madonna released a few songs that have disappeared and become underrated or ignored, when in fact they are excellent and deserve more attention. This one is one of them.

I never understood why this song wasn't a massive hit at its time. Maybe because of the movie it was related with, but above all, I admit the clip doesn't bring justice to Madonna. As for me, this song is a jewel and nobody will ever dare say it was made by an untalented artist.

The 80s are here in Europe more alive than ever. The songs, no matter if the popular ones or rare ones, are played more than in 80s as they were new. Plenty of radio stations and music channels (MTV 80s Europe, MTV 80s UK, Stars TV Poland)

It's remarkable that even Madonna's relatively underrated song of the early 80s is this good. GOOSEBUMPS.
This one always struck me as one of her very few pop-to-rock tracks. She didn't often approach the radio/mainstream rock barrier, but Gambler has at least one foot over the pop/light rock threshold. Good tune tho, always liked it and C4U from VisionQuest. It reminds me a touch of The Metro by Berlin.
