Congrats on the camera, guys! I've had it for half a year and love it. Been eyeing those Rokinon lenses and am jealous! Be sure when using primes you turn on Steady Shot and set it to the right focal length. I'd also suggest you have no fear and do a deep dive into the menu - can take some getting used to - but once you're familiar with it it's not that bad. Customize all the buttons that can be customized (my biggest suggestion is to use something like C3 as record - the side record button is annoying), and put your next-most-used stuff in the Function (Fn) button menu for easy access. You'll notice you don't get much battery life compared to a Canon, but my secret weapon has been plugging it into a small Anker USB charger - still drains somewhat from the battery but extends the life by at least twice - harder to do when handheld but you can make it work. Last quirk is that it can be difficult making sure you're in focus, even with peaking turned on, but you guys are probably really good at finding focus with all the run and gun you do. Enjoy the camera, it's amazing!

Between Node / Corridor Digital / Sam and Niko - y'all are pretty much my top 3 for when I need to kick back, relax and watch some quality content. Thanks for being awesome. So many of my friends have went nuts over "the glitch" short, they were blown away because we're all 90's kids and seeing our favorite games meshed together like that - pure gold. To take advantage of the CZcams algorithm. If you increase someone's watch session time it benefits you, but at the same time, if it ends on someone else's channel, you don't get any penalties - the other channel does. It's hard to explain, but in a nutshell CZcams wants people to watch as many videos back-to-back as possible. They reward you if you start or continue a session, but if your video's the last in the session, then you get a penalty because it ended on your content. So like a game of hot potato, it's smart to pass the potato to someone else. Note that they don't link to specific videos, but to PLAYLISTS. That's the key. You're more likely to watch a string of videos that way. To make things even MORE interesting, creating a playlist is interpreted by the algorithm similarly to a new upload. Note that they've created a lot of playlists. It's a sign of a smart CZcamsr when they create strategic playlists in between their upload schedule. Look up Darrel Eves to understand the "science" a bit more.

Hi Corridor, I have a question.
You guys do a lot of complicated visual effects, and so have you ever tried or used a node based compositor, as that would probably speed up some things? I know you're all excellent at AE, but node based workflow does seem to be the way to go when working on large vfx shots.

Montylicious with a fast, sharp lens, likely yes. If your DSLR is okay, then step up your lens game and your quality will skyrocket. ⬆️⬆️⬆️
I do have the canon 24-70 f4 L, it might be sharp, but its not that fast. I cant imagine getting my footage looking as good as the a7sii. (I have the lens bundled with a 70D)

Wren, if you're reading this I finally had an idea for that tesla skate board thing. Ok so I asked my science teacher after class I she said the best way to have the board go at a good speed was to create your motor that goes on the board but, you need to keep the twenty tesla batteries to keep that reserve energy, I'm not sure if you'll find this a good idea or even possible but I'd like you try, as Nick's grandfather used to say, "do it".

As someone who doesn't know much about lenses - can someone explain that 50mm one Nick was talking about as his favorite? Does anyone know the specific one he's talking about, or is he just saying any 50mm f/1.8 lens?

I sort of figured it was a general type of lens, I have 2 on my Nikon, 18mm-50mm and 55mm-300mm. Like they said, I guess it kinda comes down to preference, but each lens serves its own purpose. But, I'm not a camera guru by any means..

Rokinon lenses are only REALLY soft when you open them up at max aperture. Should be stopped down to F/2.8, and no higher to keep sharp images / be without highlight artifacts.

I just finished part one last night(Prologue-ch 8). The book is so good! I love the powers and how there are still rules to follow (as mentioned in the video), the social difference between the skaa and nobles, and the presentation of the 2 main characters, brandon shows very well how deep their scars go. There are so many great things about the book, even down to how its written. I have been reading the book on my kindle every chance i get, in the car, school, academy, home. I should probably have done mor of my homework tho XD
haha then you're in for a TREAT!!! The book just gets better and better. And Sanderson has a way of escalating the story in the final 15% of his books that works amazingly well. Plus, books two and three are longer and expand the scope of the world in a really cool way. In the first book you're dealing with an emperor. In the third book you're dealing with Gods.
And that's not even to mention there's several other books that take place in the same universe like the Stormlight Archive, which, I dare say, is even better than Mistborn.
I'm so excited! I bought the whole trilogy when i bought mistborn. My brother actually recommended the stormlight archive series for me about 2 years ago. I didn't know they took place in the same universe. That's so cool, thanks for the crazy awesome book suggestion and rekindling my love for books! :D

To be honest I skipped through all the cliched "Ask Google" parts of the video.

And personally I find when night shots are too brightly exposed all the shadows look unnatural. It's like the gamma is too high and the image lacks contrast, shadows are meant to be dark.
