Keep this interview visible. I've never seen Tom more relaxed and open in any other interview. Damn this man is dear to my heart...now more than ever.
Officer Tatum's interview was good. It was my introduction to Tom as well as an emotional rollercoaster but I didnt want it to end.
.. my "everyday playlist" is chillin collecting cob webs since I found the "all Tom MacDonald soo
Whether it's his music, his spoken word, his scary stories, or interviews like this, I am always very intrigued by everything Tom says. He is a great story teller and paints a very vivid picture of what's happening, almost like you're in the room next to him when it happens. I've never even met him before and never been one to gloat over celebrities, but I genuinely feel like I love Tom like a brother and would do anything for him to make sure he's alright. H.O.G.â€ïžđ€
I always tell people Tom is his own genre
Agreed brother
Agreed! Bar the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard court case, thereâs nothing/no-one else on CZcams Iâd listen to for two and a half hours straight đ

I hear you! đŠ đ„đŠ đ„đŠ
Thank you for letting Tom speak and not talking over him. So many potentially great interviews are ruined by the interviewer testing the guest like a chance to draw attention to themselves and not the guest. Toms way of putting things about his past in this that I have people who need to get this that I'll pay it for because he makes it all relatable to an everyday person
THANK YOU so much for posting the entire podcast. This was such a fantastic interview! You have made the #hangovergang VERY happy! âș
Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to watch later. đ

This is one of my favorite Tom interview to date! #hangovergang

Itâs funny now⊠but I was in that same spot about 11-12 years ago. I went to the dr saw a therapist. Picked up a paintbrush and that is what got me through. Once the artist came out I was finally ok. If Iâm not creating something, the anxiety creeps back in. Watching this reminds of me⊠and now I understand why Iâm drawn to Tom. I see some of myself in him. No Iâm not some super kool artist. Iâm just creating something Daily so I donât slip back down the rabbit hole again. Art is 100% the best therapy. Doesnât matter what kind of art you make.. helps keep you grounded and whole. Thanks for sharing the interview.
Tom speaks to people because he comes from the heart. He doesn't put on airs so that he can get ahead. Tom is Tom. Take it or leave it. #HOG for life
I really admired this humble artist.
Well, Iâve cried three times!! Thank you Dopey Podcast for this interview. Thank you Tom for doing this interview and for being so open and honest about your life and feelings and what youâve been through. I just have to say that I am very thankful and grateful that you are still here with us. Love and appreciate you Tom.â€ïž

What a fabulous interview! I am a huge Tom fan and now a dopey fan. Loved the way you just had a conversation with him, no spin, no narrative, and you just allowed him to get his whole story/thoughts out. No cuts/no edits... Tom is one of a kind and is someone very special. I think that's possibly why he struggles so much with his anxiety.. it was like the universe pushing him to be his real self and go where he was meant to go and to realize he COULD do anything. I'm so glad Tom is...well...Tom! He's right no one can replicate or replace him. The work he does is important for this country, the world, and I believe humanity in general. He's making real changes where real changes start...in the hearts and minds of an individual...bridging gaps. Thanks so much!! 1M đ„đ„!

Tom has helps out people in ways that Tom wouldn't understand! #hangovergang
First cocaine, weed, alcohol panic attack I experienced, ended with a gun to my head in a real seedy hotel. Quit absolutely everything that day. Cocaine, weed, alcohol, fastfood, even aspirin. Doctor prescribed me anti depression pills. Took one, went to work. Got completely lost at work, and had no idea where I was. Never touched anything since.
My absolute favorite interview Tom has done hands down!!! Most authentic. #Hangovergang4life#bestrapperofalltimes #legend #Tommacdonaldisalegend
Thank you for this interview. Tom is a class act. Tom and Nova deserve all of the happiness in the world!
I can't add anything more than what has already been written by the other commentators (HogFam) because it is exactly how I feel so I will just say THANK YOU. #HOG4EVER
This guy...tells his whole story with an unmade bed and dog stairs behind him. Just livin' it real!

This was such a good interview. I'm a recovering addict and I'm so greatful for youtube. When I first found myself watching youtube a few years back I was introduced to Blue October's and Justin Furstenfelds music and Their stories and their experience strength and hope. Then a couple yrs later I had seen Tom and Nova's song Im Not Well (gfbf) then Tom's Music and story and his willingness to be vulnerable. So here I am almost 50, not had any alcohol since November 2016 and finally out of a toxic relationship realizing that my biggest fear of being alone is one of the best feelings ever. Anyway I'm so glad I found this podcast and Ill be going back and catching up as much as I can at your content as I live almost an hour away from any town with over 1000 people I welcome content like yours. I've already caught up on a few of your DAILY REFLECTIONS earlier. So thanks for sharing đ¶âźâŻïžđ” #hangovergang4life
Amazing! That was awesome for sure, I was emotionally connected when Tom talked about "His Code" for feeling suicidal saying that something was going to happen, I got that because "My Code" for feeling that way was "I need to go home" whilst I was sitting in my actual home. I'm a huge fan of Tom before this interview but after this its gone up 100 fold. Thank you Dopey Podcast for doing this one, and Thank you Tom for being your Open and Honest self as I've come to expect I wish all good things for you. Much Love!!
Can't help but love Tom. He's a genuinely nice guy as well as a great artist.
I held my breath, I was so engaged. Thank you.
Thanks Tom for being a force,,,you gained all you needed ,,,to BE SUCCESSFUL TODAY,,u earned your wayđ

He's so inspiring and so 100% himself and what he's accomplished with Nova independently and fearlessly is a testament to the freedom we all have to work hard, be courageous and true to ourselves and to the world. Ya"ll help keep the true American dream a reality and something to keep fighting for.
I've never seen your podcast before. I'm a huge Tom Macdonald fan though! I'm also in recovery. Tom said on his FB story thay this was the best interview that he has ever done and I have to agree! I'll be checking out your other podcasts. Thanks for going deep with someone that I love learning more about!

That was The Best Interview Ever!!! Thank You To Tom and To You Dopey!
Life at the bottom makes the top so much sweeter. Have never been that low in my life, fortunately, but I do count my blessings every day! Tom is just a man, but he inspires so many. I hope the ones he inspire go on to make our world a better place, because he has made our world a little better with each song.
Im a pro black male from Brooklyn, NYC...and Tom is the truth
Every time I hear this man I love him more and more. Such a bown to earth young man. He gets it. We would all benefit to be more like him. His albums are the only music I have purchased in many years.
Yeah me too! The only music I listen to is K Love Christian music and Tom Macdonald, I love his music, his lyrics, and how humble he is, he's like the Johnny Depp of Hip Hop, he's so humble and so real and he appreciates his followers, he drops the F bomb as if he's just talking to his best friend in his living room. He has changed my mind toward Hip Hop, but only his rap the rest is just crap rap,
As a man with a Severe TBI,I understand exactly how he feels with depression and anxiety. All my friends have left me because of my quirkiness. I just pray that I can crawl out of this dark hole and start to heal. Tom's journey gives me some hope ...not much, but at least some.
Best Tom interview Iâve ever listened toâŠ..thanks boys!!!! Awesome!!!!
I've been listening to Dopey for years, as far back as when Chris was still with us. I have over 6 1/2 years sober. I just wanted to say thanks, Dave, for introducing me to this artist. I'm a punk rocker in my late 40s, so Tom's music isn't what I traditionally listen to, but his messages/lyrical content and his DIY ethics definitely is punk. This planet needs more artists like Tom.
Peace be with you and Dopey Nation.
This was an incredible interview! The best one I've seen with Tom, thank you for doing this and allowing him to speak without interruption, a nice change from other interviewers. #HOG
This is by far the best interview Iâve seen with Tom, you can see the emotion and passion in his expressions. To understand how someone came through all their demons and came out shining on the other side. Tom is a perfect example that we can all overcome our vices, our deepest fears. There is a lot of people who deal with mental illness and substance abuse, the two of you are great examples that you can get through anything if you focus on your self.
Fantastic interview! One of the best I've heard! Thank you for posting this - it's so great to watch when people just let Tom tell his stories and his life.

Tom is considered conservative because the left has moved so far left that centrist tend to end up lining with the right. I'm a independent, I believe in both arguments like Tom and I tend to align more with the R's instead of the D's.
I think the left has moved right actually, to the authoritarian "centre"
Literally just found this dude like 2 days ago while I'm going through withdrawal from Paxil (part purposely and partly cus I'm tired of the doctors and them not helping me at all really) and listened to his channel all day...haven't even finished yet. He smacks you in the face with the truth and I love it!
The anxiety he's described here is literally the last 16 years of my life. I feel for you Tom. Unlike me it's great that you were able to somehow pull yourself out of it and succeed as you have. I started smoking weed when I was 13 and up until around 17 that was all I did. Then I started messing with acid and shrooms along with the weed. One day when I was about 18 a friend had gotten some generic percocets for a dental procedure he had gone through and offered me one. I liked it a little too much. After he ran out we started tracking them down through our various weed dealers who either also sold pills or knew where to get them. That became a every weekend thing for almost a year before for whatever reason the person we had been buying percs from ran out... but had this new thing called oxycontons. He described them as being like percs but stronger and although they were 20 dollars a pill (80 mg this was like 2000 or 2001) we decided to give it a go. I immediately fell in love with the feeling (I even kinda enjoyed the sporadic throwing up) and so oxies replaced percs as my weekend fun. Had I known what oxies truly were I like to think I wouldn't have tried them. So for a while it was only a Friday night and sometimes Saturday thing but eventually it became a fri-sun thing. Then, of course, it started becoming a problem. I eventually did them too many days straight and caught a habit. That lasted about 5 or 6 months until my job finally fired me for being high on the job and having no savings to burn through i had no money. Around that last month before running out of cash my cousin had been sleeping on my floor from like 12 at night until a little before the sun came up because he got kicked out for his heroine addiction (that i didn't find out about until that last week of that time) and it was the first time I couldn't get hold of any oxies so I finally got sick or "ill". My cousin came in to sleep and saw me in the throws of sickness (which i honestly thought was the flu or something) and I asked him since he was using dope and various pills like percs and Xanax if he knew where to get oxies. He then explained what oxies actually were (they were the same reason he got on heroine) and so in fear asked what I should do. Basically after some begging he gave me a small bump of his scramble (heroine thats been heavily cut with something) and I felt better. I thought that was it. Nope! Next day I was sick again so I started giving him money (money i got from pawning my belongings) to get me a pill of dope every day. I only snorted it for about a month then started shooting it. I eventually became homeless and lived on the streets for almost 2 years all the while having a heroine addiction and eventually smoking crack. I went to multiple rehabs and finally, on my own, I got "clean". So once I was finally clean all my mental health issues flooded back ten fold (I have always had a serious anxiety disorder among other issues). The last 15 or 16 years have been a severe depression filled storm of extreme anxiety. I've been to multiple counseling centers and TheRapists and have been on loads of different medications for it but so far nothing has really helped so far. They did a DNA test on me to figure out which meds work best and told me that I'm medication resistant. Something about the way I metabolize the medication. Its absolute Hell. I'm still trying though. I hope that one day I'll be able to live my life again.
Thank you for sharing your story. May you be deeply held in what sounds like a living hell. You are being held, even if it doesn't feel like it. Know that above anything else! You have come along way, even though you're still in a tough spot. Don't give up! Keep searching for answers however strange or out of the box they may be. This stranger wishes you well and hopes you find some reprieve.
@@ashleeneufeld2262 thank you. I really appreciate that.
Excellent!!! Could not stop watching.
This was inspirational. I don't comment very often, well not in a personal or serious way. But i wanted to say that this gives me hope and hearing how he fought to regain his life makes me want to do the same. Thanks for sharing this podcast and letting us hear Tom's story from his own perspective. seems like a good dude and his music is awesome.

This was the best interview I have ever seen!! You and Tom really knocked this out of the park. I love the questions you asked, especially the last hour or so. I also appreciated you listening to the answers, not talking over Tom, you related to him, and you really cared about the answers he was giving. You were genuinely interested. I appreciate Tom being completely open, honest, transparent, and not letting anyone pigeonhole him into anything. Labels suck and I love Tom not allowing himself to be put into a box! And a side note: I really liked your game at the end. Lol. You have a great radio voice. Thank you for sharing this with us!! Peace!!
Great interview, Dopey. I have more in common with Tom than I ever imagined, except fame and fortune. He is so real and raw that we can all relate. Love this, dude...

I just have to say, about 90 mins in Tom talks about being envious of artists he saw on MTV having found what they were meant to be doing and all I could think was "but now you've joined those ranks, Thomas. This is defiantly what you were put on this earth for. You've made it." And I think that constantly when listening to his music, like he is 100% doing what he was meant to do and changing lives. He's the reason I'm a year sober and as other commentors have said, I feel a great pride and protectiveness over Tom, like he's my brother. Thanks so much for this interview. While I know most of the stories already, this is the most in depth interview I've seen and its greatly appreciated
Born and raised in Alberta i can tell you that what Tom says about bullies is the truth. I was on both sides of the fence in my youth. Tom is keeping it real and it was some tough times. My dad also worked in the oil industry as a pilot engineer. He would fly the rig workers all over the place and in the summer fight forest fires. Never was around. Thanks for the great interview!
This was dope! Great questions, great interviewđđ
Absolutely loved this podcast both of you were so good at feeding off each other and keeping it very interesting and moving along so great like you guys have know each other for years. You definitely had your research done about tom and it was amazing to see such a long interview that didn't feel dry. I've been a tom macdonald hog fan for a little over a year now. I've watched and take everything in even watch multiple reviewer of his music so I can understand a bit more about some bars I might have missed. Cause like tom says it's like he writes a da vinci code in it... by far one of the most complete start to present life story of Tom. I can't thank you both enough for the 2 and half hr grind you guys put into this without looking like it was work. I was in a bad place before watching this it took my mind off of everything and now I'm more motivated to finish the work on my house to have it ready for sale and live a more peaceful life again can't thank you both enough cheers
I am so excited to watch this. I can relate to Tom. I never listened to rap music until I saw the video Brainwashed. And the more I listened, the more intrigued I was about Tom and Nova. I love his honesty, how smart and articulate he is, and what a genuine person he is. God Bless you, Tom

Holy shit! That was the most real interview I've ever seen.
Thank you for the wonderful interview. Your question was excellent, great job.

Tom is amazing. But the HOG FAMILY is his greatest achievement.
You are so very right Pam!
I agree with this Pam!!! Love ya Fam!!
Great respect for Tom! Love his music and raw honesty! â€
Similar things are happening to my 8 yr old with bullying. He's such an awesome kid too and i already got him into good music like classic rock, punk, metal, some hardcore. Kids can be so fucking mean and for some reason it gives me such intense pain when he tells me things...it actually makes me hate humanity, which isnt healthy i know. Idk why im sharing this, maybe hearing Tom share his bullying story made me relate in some way....i absolutely hate bullies and i know they are young and probably going thru shit themselves. Thank you Tom and Dopey for sharing this. Peace!
His mental unraveling phase is so familiar to what Iâve been through over the last year Iâm literally on the edge of my seat listening to see where it goes...
because Iâm currently at the stage where he got a few days of relief from the adavan finally after months of just watching the wheels fall off my life...
except the only thing that didnât make my shit worse was Xanax which Iâm not excited about bc my ex was on that shit and it fkd our relationship up & left a bad taste in my mouth, but whatever I guess.
I wish I could talk to him for just 5 minutes. But if nothing else itâs a relief and inspiration to know heâs been through this same darkness and came out on top. Maybe somehow I can do the same.
My come to sobriety moment was a mix of coffee, weed and booze as well. I was drinking and smoking constantly for like a year or two. All day every day. Also drinking coffee whenever I wanted to. Always having minor panic attacks. Maybe five or six a day where my heart would go crazy. Getting hot flashes like crazy.
After a while I got a pain in what I think was my heart. Kept smoking and drinking. And after about a year of the pain in my chest just broke down. Obviously was crying, just fed up with life and myself. And one night just asked God if he would help me out.
Hereâs the crazy part. When I starting trying to ask God for help. I could faintly see who I can only say is Jesus. And as Iâm telling him Iâll give it all up if he would just take the pain in my chest away. Itâs like he already knew what I was trying to communicate. And bro. In a split second. All of the sudden. Dead sober. No pain in my chest, at all. Not even a tingeâŠ. I can only say it was a miracle honestly. Nothing helped the pain. Nothing helped the anxiety. CBD kept me calm through most of it I guess.
I mean. I wasnât willing to quit even despite all of that. And literally the moment I sincerely just asked God to help. BoomâŠ
Been clean off everything but the occasional glass of red wine or cigar for just over a year now. You can call it some level of self deception or fantasy or whatever but. Iâm not that pessimistic on the matter. Jesus saved my life. And I think he would save anyone elseâs too.
Absolutely loved this interview⊠So very honest and it was great to see the real Tom MacDonald. What a lovely guy.

Okay, 1:58 , I am going to be praying for him, this is important, but it's not the first time I felt called to pray for him, not because he is someone special but because God is calling some of us to pray for him. I will pray for you is not some weak statement if the person who says it knows God is very powerful, very real, you don't only speak to him you listen and really hear what he has to say about a persons life and needs. Those who know how to pray the will of God over your life are a blessing, I am not saying I am a blessing, I am saying if you know how to intercede for others, do it. But make sure your not messing with the wrong spirits, not all spirits are the Holy Spirit. This stuff is real, but God is ONLY good. God didn't mess up this world, we did. The only good God will never ask you to compromise and he doesn't need you to, he just needs you to draw near to him and he will draw near to you. That's a promise out of James 4. And it's not about celebrities or talking about myself, my point is myself and others are praying for strangers we saw on the street and never even talked to from over a decade ago because we felt God asked us to pray for them when they are not in a place of people able to fully know or pray God's will over themself. You never know who has your back and is warring for you while your actually under literal spiritual attacks. Ephesians 6:10-22 is instructions on the battle we are all in.
God has a good plan for us, but we have to seek it, like Tom prophetically spoke, God is calling people to listen, be still. MacDonald is brilliant and brave. I respect him fully as a human even if he never was able to sing another song or drop another beat, I would also not stop praying, same if he majorly messes up. My dad was a rapist and I forgave him, that's the stuff that makes people made but I just pray my dad repents and finds God. God loves us no matter what and no matter where we are, yet we all know there is still consequences for our actions. Jesus agreed with Tom on this, the religious culture can become a godless cult once they follow the rules, even create rules around rules, but miss the point. I am not trying to be preachy but spirituality got brought up. This is just audio scripture from John if you want it, if you humbly listen and ask God to speak through it to you, he will - czcams.com/video/iLgOTErq2rM/video.html
I loved this interview! Tom is a storyteller and reminds me of the rawness of Ryan Leone. When your daughter walks in, Tomâs legitimate laugh was everything.
Why donât more people know this interview happened ? Amazing, love that Tom gave his time to this though not surprising as he is one of the most authentic people. Respect
Finally took the time to sit down and watch this whole video. Best 2 1/2 hrs I have spent in a long time. Makes me respect Tom even more. Also made me a subscriber to your podcast. I think you did a great job with the interview, man.
Thank you for having Tom on your pud cast! Loved the interview!
Tom is THE ICON of this century. Period.
Hella props to Tom to allow his truth too show, cause he could have easily seen that the interviewer was looking to get truly personal stuff. He took it on faith that he could put him self out and be cool with it. Tom is just really cool!
