    What makes mgm esc and motor combo for a dbxl-e worth $1400+ ($300 more than the rc actually cost) over the competition at about 1/3 the cost?

    • @HighVoltageRC3080
      @HighVoltageRC3080  Před 3 lety +2

      The power and features. Its a very powerful system and very well made. Very high quality components. You can do a 12s setup with a flier esc and TP motor for much less and will still do quite well but it wont be as powerful as the Lehner/MGM combo.
      I run the Flier esc in some of my basher rigs. They lack some features but still do good on power. My friend runs a Lehner motor with his Flier esc and it makes good power for the money. The motors are around $750 alone so you end up around 1k for a very powerful setup. Mgm 40063/Lehner 3080 combo will cost you around 1900 shipped.

    Just ordered this esc motor combo for my losi dbxle 2.0. Replacing xlx2 that just went up in flames. What were your battery specs on this vid? What kind of mechanical brakes would you recommend for my setup? Thx

    • @HighVoltageRC3080
      @HighVoltageRC3080  Před 3 lety

      Losi makes a mechanical brake set for the dbxl-e. It fits the 2.0 but you have to dremel the brake discs to fit the larger diff outdrives on the 2.0 dbxl-e.
      Batteries on this one were turnigy HD 7s 5000mah 60c

    Hi mate. I'm converting my 5iveT with the same MGM/Lehner system, and plan to run on 14S also. I see in the comments below you were using the Turnigy HD 7S 5000mah, how do they perform?
    I'm actually thinking I might drop the motor kv down to 750kv, and run 18/56 gearing on 14S. I too have the BRP 190's, and all RCMAX gearboxes/diffs as it was originally built for a big bore engine. My diff fluids are 300/1mil/500. What are your thoughts on that? any suggeststions would be really appreciated

    • @HighVoltageRC3080
      @HighVoltageRC3080  Před 2 lety +1

      This is David from Facebook btw...
      The batteries do ok just not very high mah so runtime isnt too long.
      840-875kv is fine for 14s. Just gear down if needed. 750kv is ok also, I ran a 750kv 3080 in my 5ive-b and it was good but the higher kv does feel a little more snappy.
      I run 200k front, 1mil center, 60k or 100k rear generally. What you have should be fine though.

      @@HighVoltageRC3080 Thank you again for the quick reply. I'll probably go with standard 40063-X2. I've been speaking with CS the last few days. they seem to be quite helpful at MGM! I found a nice Triton X2LS-E5T Brushless conversion kit from RovanRC that was designed for the Five-T, which includes some really nice parts for the money, billet Rx box, all CNC motor mount & diff standoff, battery trays, etc. I actually have a couple Tekno trays on hand as well. My main concern was hopefully using the Motor mount from this kit & Diff Standoff for my Five-B build, I'll experiment with trays as needed. Check out the Triton kit on Rovan, pretty sweet!
