Had a little fun this last weekend with my brushless XR5. Was initially just testing the speed but then decided to push it a little bit to get in to triple digits! I may have been a little excited... Flier esc - radio signal settings configuration
zhlédnutí 809Před 2 lety
In this video I go over how to read your transmitter signal values using an castle esc, so you can set the flier signal values accurately. Sometimes the "automatic" values don't work well with some radios. By setting the signal values manually, the esc will be able to see 100% throttle and 100% braking/reverse so it can scale the output properly.

Finally got around to posting this. My friend Reggie used his 5ive-b as a "chase car" and I added a short clip of it that shows my 5ive-b flying past his. 5ive-b now has a 30100 Lehner 840kv motor in it with the 40063 MGM esc. I'm just running 12s for now but very impressed with the setup. Short clip at the end showing my vekta, wasn't able to speed run it this time but its setup for 14s now. #...

Finally got to test out the Vekta with the new MGM 80063/Lehner 30100 setup. This is the very first run of the truck so it was just a shake down but it surprised me with the speed! Only running on 12s and it's capable of 15s max, also could probably gear it up a little bit. This motor/ESC combo is amazing! MGM powered MCD XR5 Max test run

First run on my new car. I will probably upgrade to a 400a esc. This run I have the 25063 model esc from MGM installed and it did ok but I think this car might have too much "gear" since it has the overdrive diffs installed. ESC handled it pretty good but the difference between the 400a is definitely noticeable. If this car had regular diffs (instead of overdrive) or a bigger spur ect it probab...

Testing out the new motor in an xmaxx. Using the WFO mini mount and mod1 gears for this test. Motor ran great and topped out around 140°F when I was done driving so there is a little room to gear it up. Hi what tyres?
@sufyaankhan232 medium compound mcd asphalt tires, I got hard compound to try out but haven't run them yet.
What motor fan is that? brand and model? Have the same setup and want to get a fan for the motor but all i can find is the amazon cheap looking ones. Thanks
This is an old 3d printed mount that broke. The fans were some 40mm fans I got that ran off 7.4v so I didn't have to use a separate battery.
What kind of motor mount are you using? Liked and subbed
@teppanyakikingjboix8086 bowhouse mount. PNW rc makes one as well that will work and has more adjustments. I like it more in the xmaxx but xrt bowhouse works well.
You da man thank you!! Love the xmaxx and love the video have a good one!!
@@HighVoltageRC3080 you da man thanks!! Would you know which pnw motor mount would fit with my castle 1717 2060kv 25 mm or 30mm mount?
@@teppanyakikingjboix8086 25mm is what you want for the 17xx series motors. If you have a 1717 1260kv watch the temps, that motor is a little smaller and will get hot quicker than the 1721.
@@HighVoltageRC3080 mybad I meant 1260kv. Perfect I’ll be ordering the 25mm mount. Thank again!!!!
Just dropped this combo,I cant wait to run it tomorrow!
nice kit
that thing moves good video\\\\\\\\
Put some limiter straps on their
It got some before it left my shop.. all good now 👍
Thanks !!! I was searching for this
Did that ESC survive? I have the same one but I'm scared to install it.
I have this same combo in the xmaxx still and in my xrt as well. Esc does fine as long as gearing isn't too crazy.
?
HI THIS IS THE 30KW OR THE 40KW??
It's an MGM 40063 x2 esc and a lehner 3080/6 motor.
ok the bro very nice car@@HighVoltageRC3080
what a waste of money, but seems you did this for clicks and views, and you got mine. But to let you know you could have had a much faster and more stable car, but you wasted lots of money for attention, LOL!!!!!!
I've owned the car for a few years.. I built it to have fun and it puts a smile on my face everytime I run it. It will go faster I just don't have that much interest in being the fastest person on CZcams. I do this to have fun and that's it. Thanks for stopping by though 🤙
❤❤❤
She’s ripping, love the look black on black. I’ll be adding this rig to my fleet soon. 👍🏼
Hey Elvert Mack referred me to you. To see if I could get some carbon fiber battery trays for my FG modelsport?
For sure.. easier to chat on Facebook or Instagram if you have either of those?
Yea I have instagram
Hi! Thanks for the video! I have one question, I don't find an answer for: as the OTA adapter goes into the fan port, is it possible to run the car with the OTA attached...or is the fan than not working?
Yes, you just need a Y. The max4 comes with a small Y harness so you can use the fan and OTA module at the same time.
@@HighVoltageRC3080 thanks!!!
Love that Batman Sticker..
Man Baby Girl is Smooth & Fast !
What are your P-value settings on the MGM for acceleration? Mine won't let me accelerate that fast without cutting out. Most have experienced the same thing running this combo. I'm running the same MGM/Lehner combo on 12S also.
I'll have to read the esc, not exactly sure where I had this one at but I'm using P16 and P17 to change acceleration time once RPM hits a certain point. Still kinda tweaking it as I have time but it was running pretty good with the current settings. The protections on the esc definitely can cause it to cutout if the acceleration causes too many amps etc etc. If the car is overgeared then it will not accelerate fast, but if you ease in to throttle it can handle the load. Gearing/load plays a huge part but if you're using a MCD with stock gearing like mine the settings I have should help it perform similarly.
@@HighVoltageRC3080 Yes...i'm running stock gearing. Kinda wish it wouldn't have that protection so I could do burnouts lol. Nice paint job btw!
@@huckleberry8864 it took me a while to figure out these mgm. The protections are nice though because you're not as likely to burn up your esc. I'll try to read that esc today or this weekend and let you know what I have set for the p16/p17.
@@HighVoltageRC3080 That would be great thanks! I have a no audio short clip on my channel that I just uploaded of my MCD XR5. Not sure why there's no sound. I love our cars...it's so beastly sounding...turns heads every time I run it.
Mine always tells mee short and it dosent show up
Smooth n quite my fine design is a bit more noisy I think
Do you think the hobbywing 560kv motor will fit the stock motor mount
No Im pretty sure it wouldn'tfit... get one of the 56118 motors instead and you'll be good to go
@HighVoltageRC3080 dang thanks bro
@@GAPreviewsAtoZ ddm posted a customer build on their Instagram and the guy fit the 70125 motor, but it looks like he used the upgraded billet mount. Also looks like he made his own custom brace that connects the transmission to the chassis. Honestly though I wouldn't run that motor in the vesla. Better off with a higher kv motor for that rig.
@HighVoltageRC3080 yeah I probably do the 800kv hobbywing 12s
Awesome man👍
Very Nice vidéo 😊😊😊😊
Thanks for sharing David - very useful info!
Wow and I was just saying how hw data logging sucks compared to castle. Had no idea about this!! Thank you for being a hero.
Hobbywing has come a long way. I still have the very first Xerun they made when I was helping them with a car ESC. They only had aircraft back when I contacted them to see if they could make me a 12S+ version for vehicle. Actually I contacted just about all the ES manufacturers and only one made a 10S ESC for me. Imagine how far along this hobby would've been if this was done 14+ years ago.
If this works on the XR10/XR8 pro series ESC's the drag racing community will probably have a meltdown since Hobbywing supplies zero information about this. My main question is how many data points per second can we get?
From what I understand it will display whatever the esc supports for data logging. I don't use the xr esc so I can't speak on what they will display just what the max4 shows and once I run my new max5 G2 I'll see if it's any different. I believe it has some other programming options. It is frustrating that HW has not done any videos on this. Maybe we can give them feedback and they can do a "Charlie show" on data logging or something. Would be nice to know if there is something I missed haha
My goodness David. Such great information. Thank you so much for sharing 👊🤘
It's like Hobbywing doesn't want the average user to know about this hidden data. Good Share man
Im sure this will help people. I would guess ive been using this for a close to a year on my Maxx 4(s) and find the amp draw as traction data on my Sand dragster. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for showing this Video, it helps💯👍
Sick Buggy David! Thanks for sharing the footage. Making me want one bad 😂
What kv motor and gearing?
Stock gearing, Leopard 58113v2 870kv for now.

Awesome video my man killer runs on 10s good test runs great job thumbs up 👍
I have one of those and i love it. My motor gets scorching hot in minutes. What kv motor did you put in yours???
This one is 870kv but it's a bigger can, so there is more surface area to act as a heatsink. The stock motor is the shorter version of what I have in it now.
@High Voltage R/C OK so that's why it gets hot so fast, because the motor is short???

Glad your back !!
I just remembered you sold your old XMaxx to JMitch . Nothing like it not surprised you got another one.
@@runngunrc1991 I've actually had this one a long time.. the one I sold him was kind of extra and timing worked out that he wanted one and I was ready to let it go so we made a deal. Hopefully get some more videos soon, after I repair the rear diff 😆
Incredible build, so fast, but also reliable and beautiful. Amazing job!
Awesome video! I if I put this motor in my xmaxx would I need to relocate my ESC?
Yes pretty sure the space left between motor and rx box wasn't enough to fit the esc and that's why I used the wfo setup. RPM makes an esc mount that let's you retain the stock traxxas rx box, I might switch to that just to try it out.
