- Hi Folks! I received my copy of the recently released mass market edition of the wonderful Squid Cake Marseille by Jess Rollar.
Here I give a comparison of the independent version and the mass market one. It also doubles as a walkthrough of the deck for those who are interested on this fresh, fun and modern take on the Tarot de Marseille system.
(I checked after I had filmed this and I don't think the indie version of the this deck is currently available/if it will be available in the future).

Hi Kelly, this is such an adorable deck. I wanted to mention César from @78puertas after I learned about him from a VR you did a while back. Because of you and that VR I have started to study open reading of TdM with him. He is a remarkable teacher in a one on one setting through email. I am now in my 8th week and plan to do his complete course. Do you ever do interviews? It would be a great way to expose more people to TdM and the open reading style. César's is so knowledgable about the tarot, you are in very good hands for learning.
I hope one day I will be even half as accomplished with the cards as he is.
I don't really do interviews on my channel (though I try never to say never about things for my channel these days) but it's definitely worth mentioning him to Simon (I'm pretty sure Simon knows about 78Puertas because he enjoys Marseille tarot too).

Just picked this up recently. :) It's my first Marseille deck!

@@lilpinkbear I'm really enjoying it. :) Pretty reliant on the guidebook so far, but that's okay.
I feel like I definitely notice the directionality of things (where characters are looking or pointing, etc.) in this deck more than I do in RWS decks. So I think learning this deck will give me more to look for in RWS decks too.
not my style. i know, but the point is; even though it's not my style i really enjoyed watching and listening to what you have to say. there are tidbits to be acquired even if the deck is not for one.

I'm waiting to get mine. It looks lovely although I don't know what got into them to translate the titles!
I think they were trying to make Marseille as accessible as possible for people to get into. Jess gives a brief explanation in the guidebook. I can see that French titles might put some people off but I think that's part of their charm.

I don't have the original version so was really hoping someone would give a comparison video, would love the linen cards, but still very happy with the MM and happy to have a copy of this lovely little Marseille !! Interesting. I saw this with Rockpool and truly would love to see someone read with this and how it reads
The pips read much the same as most classic TdM. The Majors and Courts do bring a bit more fun into the equation. The choices Jess made for some of the characters and creatures in the deck certainly make for a slightly different take on some of the cards/readings. The
