The reason that the vast majority of bricklayers are male is that very few women would consider doing that job.

I'm 45 male when I was younger I did work for some masonry companies. i did very little bricklaying but i did do the labor work and I was mainly a lift operator I worked for a couple of commercial masonry companies where we built schools and other buildings. I helped build Butler County jail. It can be one of the toughest jobs out there. it's just so labor intensive. although if you work for a commercial company things are actually a bit easier because they have tools and equipment that are often better than some of the small mom and pop Masons might have. When I first started out I did work for my friend and his father and we did cookie cutter brick homes and that was actually more tough than doing a large project in a commercial business. If you work for a commercial company often times they don't want you hurting yourself so we do things to prevent that. I love seeing these ladies laying brick it's fascinating to me right now it is something very rarely seen in the US. It's a shame....these ladies should be inspirational to all women. not saying that all women can do that job because all men can't do that job either but still inspirational

    Absolutely embarrassing this programme,
Been on a price as a Brickie for over 35years .
None of these would last 5 min on a price or 6” concrete blocks
They were celebrating the other day after laying 400 4” and there were 6 of them with two labourers.
Me and my mate do this every other day without a labourer 😂
Just wait till you hit 50
Every part of your body will crumble .
Nothing against ladies on site btw .
But these are all obviously on day work .
