Imo elf senshi in the way he speaks and his personality isn't too different it's just the body language and having the extra charisma of an elf instead of a dwarf, but like if you take those lines and try imagine sungwo reading it in senshi's casual voice it like sounds like something he'd just say but elves are pretty and elegant

While she has longer fur in this form, there's no way some of her body hair doesn't get mixed in when she's in her regular form too. And minor spoiler: When they leave the cold area, she's starting to wear way less clothing too. This doesn't seem that important, but when you think about it, it makes sense for a person who is covered in fur to wear very little clothing. After all, she is basically always wearing one layer of clothing, so putting sutff on top of that is just going to be uncomfortable. But her previous "owners" still made her wear stuff that covers her entire disgusting beast body. And when they were cooking for Shuro, Maizuru didn't want Izutsumi to help because she didn't want "something weird" (likely fur) mixed in. But her new friends, they don't mind and they don't judge her. At least that's my theory.
So... ProZD tweeted last week that he was excitedto voice whatever happens this episode. I totally went into it thinking it was gonna be some great character moment in the backstory. I was ABSOLUTELY NOT expecting it to be elf Senshi lmao. The minor callback to their horse being named Anne, which is the same name Senshi gave the Kelpie back in the show earlier and he also had to eat gave me the feels too. Man, I'm gonna miss this show after next week.
It's not just the horse. A lot of the things Gillan said, like the bit about Senshi being a growing kid that needs all the nutriment he needs, are direct callback, if not outright quotes, that Senshi has said at various points.
The manga also featured a table of “what ifs” for how each character who change for each race. But gnome replaces kobald in the context of the chart alone, meaning Itsudzumi gets 4 unseen designs as opposed to 3. Also with Itsudzumi, she still keeps the a cat chimera part as well, but the ears still change for the hypotheticals.
I love how much the general proportions of the party members stay the same, even with the swapped races. Izutsumi keeps her cat features, even as a kobold, Laios is strong as a tallman so hes crazy strong as a dwarf, Senshi has ... what must be one hell of a beard for an elf, and Chilchuck is super tall and skinny. Really neat concept, wish more pseudo body-swap stuff played around with this sort of thing

I always thought Senshi was one big mystery, just waiting to reveal its dark secret, but I never expected it to be *this* dark… Shout out to Gillin, that Man suffered a fatal head wound and through sheer-freaking-force of will stayed alive just long enough to cook for Senshi, then got up, walked out the door and died outside, what an absolute legend. “I’ve always dreamed of drinking the soup again” jeez Senshi, I know what you mean by that, but that still sounds so wrong 😅 Changelings are a gift for a character designer, so many new cool designs to play with!! dog Izutsumi (dog Izutsumi) Did Kensuke really grow? Or did that not count as ringing it? The Ancient Elf-Dwarf arms race is a fascinating concept. Seemingly, it was Elven magic vs Dwarven technology. We haven’t seen any complex machinery in this world so far, just what types of weapons had ancient dwarves developed? It has to be powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with ancient magic, I’m very curious to see it.
This episode had a decent amount of manga cuts and was SO dialogue heavy. I get the feeling that theyre REALLY crunching for time right now, theres too much story to try and get out in these next few episodes and... oh we only have one left for this season.
There was one panel in a side chapter that showed a little bit of the war, it was probably a mix of black magic and advanced weapons, the Gnomes also took part but used Golems to fight
