19:14 There is also an additional difference between the LX705 and LX706: the first has the PHA-50 keyboard action, while the second has the improved and more responsive Grand Hybrid action. That is a very important difference that buyers should be aware of.... and regarding differences between LX706 and LX708, the 708 does not only have more powerful speakers, but more of them as well. So 8 speakers for LX708 compared to 6 for LX706, which allows more nuances in how the sound is delivered.

Thank you for the review! I bought the LX-706 this weekend, after testing various Rolands (for 6 hours straight). I chose this one over the LX705 and HP704. The amazing keyboard action AND the looks of it (beautiful!) sealed the deal 🎉. It was just so much fun to play this. On the HP704 which did have a nice sound, I got more tired playing...the keys didn't feel as enjoyable. The LX-708 was almost 1000 euros more expensive ans out of my price range. And to me it also looks a bit more formal than the 706.

In my opinion the LX-708 is the one to have.

Wow…just realized you posted this a day ago! (On the basis of your accent, you’re posting from the UK, I’m assuming….) Coincidentally, I just purchased an LX706 today. I have a few days before it will be delivered, so I’m biding my time watching CZcams videos on the model, which is how I happened upon your excellent video. Thanks so much for the detailed presentation!
I live in Honolulu and purchased a Roland FP30 about three years ago during COVID when piano tuners weren’t making house calls. I had tried to teach myself how to tune my 1990s Yamaha acoustic upright but messed everything up completely and broke a string. Knowing that tuners wouldn’t be making house calls soon, I immediately drove to the only piano dealer on Oahu and picked up the FP30 with stand and pedals for $1000. Over the next few months I fell in love with digital pianos, even though I’m a classical pianist who doesn’t care about all of the non-piano sounds. When I finally had my Yamaha tuned this past summer, I realized that I had become a digital piano player and that acoustic uprights just weren’t as satisfying anymore since the advent of high-performing digital pianos.
Fast forward to this past week, when I decided to upgrade from the FP30. I watched numerous videos comparing different brands and models, then decided on the FP90x as the most affordable upgrade. But then I went back to the original piano seller’s website and saw that they had a pre-owned LX706 selling for about half the retail price…so about the same price as the FP90x. I made a beeline for the store and claimed it before anyone else could. Now I have to endure the next few days of waiting for the delivery!
Thanks again for your excellent, highly informative video, which has vindicated my purchase and choice of digital piano upgrade!
    Aloha,
    Andy Jones (aka Gilchrist Haas)

I stumbled across the Roland S1 six years ago. It’s basically an LX for cheaper. I never regretted this purchase. It looks just like an acoustic piano

Thanks for the great vid, I wanted to ask if you're still happy with the piano after this time, I've tried it out and could feel any love for the sounds through the speakers (especially compared to other brands in the same price bracket), not sure about the key action though, thanks

    Nice review, thanks!
Last year I spent a lot of time researching and testing digital pianos about 3k € to 4k € but as I'm used to acoustic, I felt all of them had that artificial sound.
I would like to test this one in a local store, to see how close it is to an acoustic piano.

How is the touch/action? I am considering the costlier Yamaha CLP-775, for example. Thoughts? I know Roland is well-regarded in sound quality.

nice review. but sorry to disapoint you, except for the looks (subjective I know), the Kawai CA701 or CA901 feel better : keyboard mecanism is way better, sound itself is better, sound system is better... I played both and all Roland models seemed a bit "plastic" compared to the Kawai. that being said, it's still a solid choice for a home piano!

  • @gilchristhaas9865

P.S. Not sure why, but the vast majority of decent digital piano reviews are coming from the UK and not the States. Don’t know if that indicates a general decline in the musical interests of my fellow Americans…

But what about the key action and keys in more detailed? Is it a lighter action than acoustic pianos? Is it more difficult to play advanced classical music diploma répertoires on acoustic grand pianos if studied mainly on this Roland?

    • @LauriPesur
      @LauriPesur  Před 5 měsíci

the keys weight and action is very similar to acoustic pianos, in fact most beginners, intermediate players probably wouldn't notice the difference... :)
