What does it cost here in Florida let’s see.
    $200.00 Remington 870 to start.
    100 Target shells for $20.00.
$15.00 for a case of 107 disk clays. And $10.00 for a cheap shotgun case.
Total $245.00 walking in and out of your favorite outdoor store the same day.
    God Bless America!

Good presentation. I kept within my budget and got the gun I wanted as well. I got my Browning B725 Sporter from Ling Shooting near Wellington Somerset Husband and wife team shooters of Olympic and Commonwealth medal winners. Excellent advice, guidance and a really friendly family feel to the school. My gun was fitted to me perfectly and am looking forward to many shooting days there. I will also have to pop down and see Clive at the North Devon Shoot to which I have visited on many occasion over the last few years to do some shooting. Again another place I would recommend for a day out for a shoot absolute first class people, the wife and I have had many a lovely afternoon in the sunshine with our dog. Rest assured taking up this sport is not that expensive I have done it on a budget of around £1600 and that includes licence fee etc all in and ready to enjoy. Good luck to all of those out there looking to start!

If you just want to get into shooting then there are cheaper ways.
BUT if you want to actually Get into some kind of Sporting Clays game, then I totally agree with David. Going to a shop that helps you train you and fit you to a Quality kit is going to be money better spent. Personally I don’t like buying things multiple times. I would rather save up and buy quality gear that could be used for years to come. Then later on as things are wearing they could be replaced with something of nicer quality if needed.
I also prefer shooting at gun clubs where I don’t have to unload, clean up and load up. Just shoot and enjoy.
My son’s starter kit is a browning silver 20ga with everything else cost around $1000. And it’s worth every penny to shoot with him and to see him so excited busting Clays!!!

The very first shotgun I bought for general purpose I picked up for about $200. Stevens 320 pump 12 gauge. Then moved on to a Tristar Setter for $400. Shooter's pouch for about $10 (No way am I wearing the vest. Other guys can pull it off. Not me). Sporting clay ammo for about $7 for 25 rounds. Annual club membership for about $150. 25 clays for about $5 at a time. It's something I wish I had taken up a long time ago.

Truly another great video from TSC on what's good to have BUT not really great on price advice unless you're going to commit to getting serious. just FYI, Shotgun Certificate, aside you can get everything else for around £200 including the gun in the UK. Ebay and peacocks auction house Bedford or similar place. Safety glasses from B&Q £4, ear defenders from army surplus store for a tenner plus a cartridge bag or if you prefer a dump pouch or respirator haversack. at auction I've seen a great over under with ejectors go for 95, a side by side walnut stock £45 and a .410 bolt action single shot for £10. Not really applicable here but just saying. Obviously you wont get someone fitting the gun for you but I don't have a tailored suit either and it works well for me. I'm thumbing up as although you can get cheaper the video is great example of what can be required perhaps "WHAT DOES IT COST TO TAKE UP SHOOTING IN A CLUB ENVIRONMENT" If there's a young gun out there dissapointed that it will cost you loads to start, Just take the pricing suggestions with a pinch of salt if you just fancy some rough shooting in a less formal BUT LEGAL environment.

Here in Australia, to buy a decent, new starter collection of mid-range guns:
    1. 22LR rifle
    2. Centrefire rifle in 308
    3. Over/Under 12G trap/clay shotgun
    4. 357 revolver
    5. 9mm pistol
You need to add licensing and course fees, decent scopes, cost of the safe, and ammo, you will be looking at 10k AUD (about 7k USD). Our firearms and ammo are incredibly expensive. These would be mid-range guns. Top of the line steel and glass would be triple the price. Obviously cheap or pre-owned will be about half the cost.

Said it elsewhere, but even if you spend 4000 quid, amortized over ten years, the kit will not be the most expensive post of this hobby. Travel costs and shells and fees will be, and it can be very expensive fast! Only shooting with high powered rifles are more expensive than clay and game shooting. Shooting on a real budget is either airguns or rimfires.

I am only 15 I have just brought a miroku 7000 for £295 and Put it on a friends licence I am applying for my licence tomorrow and have been meaning to do so for a while good job I know the FAO I already have the needed kit and the main costs I can see will be lessons and clays the main question is what cartridge would you recommend for me being fairly young ? I’d there a cartridge out there for all round use on pheasants ,crows ,pigeons and clays would a 6 shot 30 work I’m not sure ? What do you think

    • @philipsmedia5268
      @philipsmedia5268 Před 3 lety

Your prorably going to need two different cartridges. For clays at a shooting ground the max size shot is normally 7.5 in a 28 grm cartridge. You should check your clay grounds regulations before going or ask them about what cartridge spec to use these do tend to change, it is worth bearing in mind the wad type in the cartridges some grounds now only allow fibre. 6 shot load should be fine for game and vermin get a high pheasant or pigeon load.

Hi, that's correct, in fact there is no minimum age for a Shotgun Certificate. You can be granted a certificate at any age. Of course the law still restricts what you can do at different ages. Under 15 you must be supervised by someone 21 or over, for instance, and you can't buy a gun or ammo until you are 18. There's loads of info on the BASC website.

My licence ran out a while ago and I think it'll be a massive shame that if I can't get it back because of my mental health.
